Modern College Au where the Gaang all goes to school in California

The three of them share an apartment in the city

Their freshman year of college they moved here from a different state to attend this university

Aang ,Kataras boyfriend has the white car (he named appa) that has a little bison hanging off his rear view mirror and a picture of his cat Momo on his dash

Being in a new town and well sokka being sokka he Didn’t want to ride with them to school he wanted to get a feel for the town and so he decided to take the subway to the university

It was his first day at a big college in a new city he’d never been in and so he put on his favorite playlist to calm his nerves

Sokka popped in his earbuds and walked to the edge of the platform and waited for the train

There was one one other person there yet because the next train wasn’t coming for another 10 minutes

Sokka was looking around and noticed him he had dark black kinda scruffy hair and the most beautiful golden eyes and he had an unusual scar over his left eye

The song beautiful stranger coming up in his que “how perfect” he thought

Wait? What was sokka thinking? Did he think this boy was cute? No way it couldn’t be

Zuko was nervous he had never been to a public school he’d been in private school his whole life because of his father and he was scared people weren’t going to like his or his scar

Zuko was feeling uneasy and looked around because people were starting to flood the station for the next train

It was then when he saw this tall brunette looking at him he could get lost in those beautiful blue eyes they were like the ocean and his hair just looked so soft and cute tied up in a little man bun

Their eyes met and they both quickly looked away and they both felt the heat rise in their faces

The train arrived and they both got on and don’t stop believing was playing it had just started they both thought to themselves “I’m never see this mystery man again “ but oh boy they were wrong

Sokka later told Aang and katara when they met up for their little study group that he likes the subway and will probably ride it everyday but he didn’t tell them why

The next day sokka didn’t see the man and he thought that it was just a day dream something figment if his imagination but than it happened

Sokka was walking around campus with his head down looking for a song to listen too he decided on a classic Elvis Presley’s cant help falling in love with you

He couldn’t help it he had been in a happy mood and then he felt a big thunk and he stumbled back and the other person fell “hey watch it!” He shouted and than looked down

Sokkas faced went bright read when he saw who exactly he had just run into it was the boy from the subway he thought to himself “no way this guy go to my school and there no way he looks that good after falling down, wait what”

He quickly apologised and helped him up and they both introduced themselves and both mentioned the subway with made them both flush

Over the years they grew to become inseparable and Aang and katara figured out why he liked taking the subway so much

Zuko became part of the study group

If was now their junior year of college and it was spring break

Aang and Katara were planning on going to see her dads Bato and Hakoda

Sokka KNOWING they already had plans asked if they all wanted to go on a road trip

Zuko obviously said yes he had been crushing on sokka for years and this was his chance to finally tell him the road trip would confirm if sokka has felt the same

Sang and Katara obviously said no but katara knew what her brother was up too

Sokka told zuko that the destination was a suprise

In the years that the two had been Bestfriends they really opened up to each other and told them everything they could think of

Zuko told sokka about his shitty family and how his dad had thrown hot oil at him once when he was making dinner and zuko had said something his father didn’t like

Sokka told zuko about his two dads and how he lost his mom to cancer when he was really young And that he doesn’t remember it all too well

Sokka had set this trip up as a suprise for zuko because he knew thag zukos never really been out of the city

Sokka had made a roads trip playlist cause why tf not

Zuko had no idea that this trip was a suprise he just thought it was a guys trip since no one else could go

A little ways into the drive uptown girl started playing and sokka chuckled causing zuko to look up from his phone

“What’s so funny” said zuko in which sokka replied “it you, your the uptown girl haha” “oh very funny sokka” he said looking away to hide the slight blush on his face

Hours go by and never stop believing played and they both rembered the day they had met when this played on the subway and zuko gasped and covered it up with a chuckle

“It’s you your the small town girl” zuko said which made sokka smirk and respond “so does that make you the city boy?” The way that sokka lokked at him made his heart flutter and he blushed a little smiled and nodded

They jammed out to the songs like the dorks they are

By the time they reached their destination the sun was starting to set sokka told zuko to wait in the car and he set up a little picnic area

Zuko was waiting when the song I see the light came on and his heart was swelling and his mind was wandering and he started to say dream about him and sokka

Sokka finished setting up and saw rhat zuko was spacing off and he knocked on the window to scare him and laughed at his reaction

He grabbed zukos hand and brought him out of the car and had him cover his eyes “no peeking it’s a suprise” Sokka said

Zuko was glad he was covering his eyes cause he was also hiding to blush thay was creeping up his neck and into his cheeks as he felt sokkas hands on his back guiding him

Sokka was glad zuko couldn’t see that he looked like an absolute tomato because holy cow he’s never held zuko this way

“Ok you can open your eyes now” sokka said in a gentle voice into zukos ear

Zuko had never seen anything quite this beautiful (well except for sokka) it was amazing

Then they had a little sunset picnic

(Guys I ran outta brain cells) they both confess to each other and then they stay with gran gran and pakku they live in Arizona cause I said so
