I. PLOT

It’s been 100 years since the last class left Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters. The once thriving institute for people born with a unique genetic mutation giving them extraordinary powers, otherwise known as mutants, had to close it’s doors for good because of a shortage of mutant students following the events of House of M. Soon, the world all but forgot that mutants ever existed, and stories told by the older generations were often viewed as nothing more than tall tales. But there’s a little truth to every tale, isn’t there? Over the past couple years, a new crop of mutants have discovered their powers and after being cryogenically frozen for 100 years, Scott Sommers gathered some of them together to reopen Xavier’s for a new class of students. This is the new generation of mutants. Welcome to Xavier’s,  G E N E R A T I O N  X .

II. BASICS

Generation X is a group verse set in the Marvel’s X-MEN universe. Since all characters attend Xavier’s, they should all be mutants but if you have a storyline that makes sense and you really want a non-mutant, human character, we can discuss. When choosing your character’s super power, you should keep their canon in mind and choose a power that fits their personality. Get creative so we don’t have duplicate powers in the verse. No all powerful characters will be accepted. On a scale of 1-5, no character should be above a 3 controlling their power, and they should all still be learning how to control them. Older characters could have a better handle on their powers but younger characters will probably still be novices. Though this takes place 100+ years after X-MEN canon, no canon X-MEN or next gen X-MEN characters will be accepted unless you have a valid reason for their return, (ex. Scott Summers was cryogenically frozen for 100 years.

III. RULES

There’s bound to be mature content including but not limited to sex and violence in a group like this, so we ask that all muns and characters be 18+, no exceptions. 

While in characters drama is encouraged, OOC drama will not be tolerated.

Major plots should always be run by an admin. (ex. major injuries or NPC deaths) Pregnancy and in verse children plots will not be allowed because they don’t really have a place in an environment like this.

Activity will be required either on the group discord or on the dash, but preferably both. If we don’t feel like you’re contributing to the group, you will be asked to leave.

Characters from all fandoms will be accepted as well as original characters.

Each member is allowed up to THREE characters, but we might allow more in the future. If you have at least ONE teacher, you can have a FOURTH character.

Duplicate face claims will not be allowed so if a canon face claim has been taken you will have to use an alternate face.

Duplicate powers will not be allowed so get creative.

★ MUTATION:

MEMORY MANIPULATION: Rose has the gift of being able to control her own memories and that of others, a gift that allows her to modify, fabricate, suppress, influence, repair, restore, erase, detect, and view them. Or at least that has been what she has been told she can do. Mostly she’s able to erase memories and sometimes modify although she hasn’t always been successful. Nor is she practiced at only seeking out one memory and removing that one. However, slowly she is learning how to do the rest mostly by practicing on herself but even that has it’s consequences.

★ HISTORY

Born in Salem, Oregon - the town has always been known for it’s anti-mutant sentiment even as talk of mutants died down. Her father was the town Reverend and her mother was a well known socialite in the community. Rose grew up raised in the house of God, the perfect daughter, an active member of the community, a star student. In high school, she fell into the wrong crowd not by choice but by mistake. Her trust in a friend led her awry and led her to her father’s church one night, finding some of them vandalizing the place, and Rose fought to stop them. Rose doesn’t remember how the fire started but she does remember how quickly it spread, the screaming, and the fire licking at her skin before she was pulled out. Her and her friend made it out alive though spent a few days in the hospital, others weren’t so lucky. She woke up and fell asleep to her friend crying and all Rose had wanted to do was erase that night, her will for that was so strong that it just happened, her friend’s memory just flooded into her and then they just kept coming and she couldn’t make it stop. A few days later she’s discharged but her friend is sent to a pscyh unit as she could no longer remember anything that happened that night let alone the past few years and had a total breakdown. When she came home, her father questioned about it but she was quiet for days until finally she could no longer keep the secret buried and confessed. Next thing she knew she was out on the street and fleeing from Salem and the talk that had surfaced. She found refuge in the occasional shelter and out on the streets until finally Scott found her and took her to the institute. Compared to the most of the other mutants she feels rather useless sometimes but at least it’s where she now calls home, and for now that’s enough.

With the holidays right around the corner we at Xavier’s acknowledge that family means many things to different people.  Many of us find that these brick walls have become home, for one reason or another.  You are not alone.

We would like to extend an invitation to those who wish to stay on the Institute’s grounds on Thanksgiving.  Doors will be open as usual but classes will be cancelled for the day.  A festive meal will be provided at 6PM in the Dining Hall.

EMPATHY and AURA READING

Clary sees emotions in different colored auras surrounding a person, like yellow for happy, red for angry, blue for sad. She’s still learning what each of the colors on the spectrum mean, but everyone has their own shades of each color so it’s hard to explain, that’s part of the reason why she took to art and started painting. When she physically touches someone, Clary can actually feel what they feel, which she struggles with a lot. She only touches people she’s close to. Clary has yet to learn how to ‘turn it off’ or suppress the power, but seeing auras has become so normal to her that it doesn’t affect her every day life, but it does feel invasive. 

HISTORY

Clary always knew that she was different, but didn’t know how different she was. Like Clary, her mother Jocelyn Fray was a mutant but because the mutation felt like a death sentence, she didn’t tell her daughter what she was. Instead she convinced her to keep quiet about the thing that made her different, and the only person she could really talk to about it was her best friend Simon Lewis, another mutant.

As a creative outlet, Clary took to art and started painting what she saw. Jocelyn encouraged the art with one rule, Clary could never actually draw a person with their aura. Most of her artwork is based on what she sees. She finds inspiration in every person she meets and the unique color palette of their aura. If she meets a person with a lot of shades of purple in their aura, she might draw lilac flowers.

When Simon was recruited to go to Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, he refused to go unless Clary went to. They were partners in crime, her best friend for as long as Clary could remember. She didn’t want him to leave her behind either, especially when she had the chance to go meet others like them. She was shy at first, but started to come out of her shell as she learned more about her power.

Clary has seen first hand how a simple act of kindness can change someone’s aura for the better, so she tries to be nice to everyone. She makes friends with everyone she meets and takes it personally when others don’t like her... and she can’t help but take on a ‘project’ when she sees someone with a negative aura. Clary has a heart of gold, cares way too much and loves nothing more than making people smile.

Scott Summers. Thirty. Optic Blasts.

Had life ever been fair to the eldest Summers? No, it hadn’t. Even at a young age, life had ripped away two people that had meant everything to him. It was a plane crash. A failing engine and his mother placed the parachute upon his back, placed his brother, Alex, in his arms and shoved them from the downing machine for a chance of their survival. However, even that hadn’t gone the way it had been planned. Due to falling flames, the parachute caught fire, leaving the two free falling and for the first time, his optic blasts came. He broke their fall with his ability but suffered a brain injury upon landing, leaving him, later in life, with no control over his mutation.  As time moves, Alex and he are  placed in an Orphanage in Nebraska. Brothers, meant to be together, yet become separated as Alex is adopted out and Scott becomes the test subject of a man who only desires his abilities. Fate had never been nice to the eldest Summers. Time continues and he leaves the orphanage, befriending a man who teaches him a life of crime before Charles Xavier finds him, bringing him back to the institute, allowing Scott to become the first member of the X-Men and for a short time, life seems to be looking up as meets the girl he planned to marry, befriends so many like him and soon becomes a teacher, a leader, a lover and a friend, yet nothing has ever had a happy ending for the eldest Summers. Jean dies, Xavier dies, leaving Scott with instructions and despite the sadness, the pain he feels from the losses, he becomes frozen, only to re-start the Institute years later, following in he footsteps of the man he looked up to and wanted to make proud.

Bellamy Blake. Twenty-Six. Earth  Manipulation.

As a child, everything had been considered normal. Life hadn’t been terrible but it held it’s rough patches. He started off alone, just he and his mother and whatever man she would bring home for the night. He had learned quickly that what he had was what he needed and he didn’t need much else. However, all that changed when he was six. Life had thrown a curve ball that he nor his mother had even been expecting. A baby girl was born. A baby girl that Bellamy feel in love with the moment he held her. Octavia. He named her and he made a promise that day, a promise to always keep her safe and to never let anything bad happen to her. Life had never played fair. At the age of ten, Aurora started to abuse Octavia and Bellamy would try everything in his power to keep Octavia protected, that was when the world changed. That was when his abilities kicked in and he was able to move the earth, pulling it up and protecting his sister whenever he could. Aurora made sure he didn’t use this  new found power outside their home. When he was fifteen, fate had came again and Aurora had disappeared for the night, not a thing that wasn’t uncommon, just unexpected. That night, Bellamy followed her, trying to learn where she was venturing but instead of learning the  truth, he watched her death. She was murdered in front of him and he knew he could have saved her, he could have protected her with his ability, instead, he froze and she died. Guilt had never been so heavy until now. Years later, after all the struggles, Bellamy had found the institute, deciding in that moment that attending, training, learning would be best for him and his sister.

Anthony Parker. Twenty-Five. Emotional Negation.

Born in the south, he was one among three other brothers. A family of siblings that followed in their grandmother’s footsteps. A family of sibliings that never have and never would match that of any other. Since birth, each of them were born with their mutation. Each Parker was no stranger to how it felt to be different from the outside world. Life had been different. As a child, he discovered what he could do. It was on the soccer field of their school tucked away in the deep south of Louisiana just by the buyou, his friend broke his arm. The pain was an overwhelming feeling, drawing the young boy to his knees, causing him to cry out as if it were his own but his mind ticked and he forced the feeling of calmness through his body, little did he know, until later when  the phantom pain stayed with him,  that that feeling of calmness was also ushered  into his friend. The young boy had went straight to his grandma and asked every question in the book. He was a mutant. He wasn’t allowed to talk about it to others that weren’t like his family but he was meant to do good. Good with a downfall. Those emotions he negates, they stay with him for a lifetime, no matter what or who they are. As he grew older, he joined the airforce, knowing his ability could help soldiers on the battlefield but soon, he was discharged, serving three tours and when he returned, he was no longer sure how to be a civilian. That was when he discovered the institute.

SUPER POWER: METAL MANIPULATION - Izzy possesses the ability to shape and manipulate metal. It started one day when she was lost in reverie, blank stare fixed on the serpent cuff wound around her wrist. She was at a loss for words when the snake stretched, coiling completely up her arm. She’s learned to hone her abilities to allow her to reshape simple trinkets into weapons: that same snake cuff into a whip, a hair pin into a dagger. But she is still limited: Izzy can not create metal, nor draw from the metals made up in a human body. While she can manipulate it, she can not move it with her mind and anything she creates is affected by everything normal metals would be - they can be melted down, frozen or rusted - and there’s nothing she can do it stop it.

SUPER POWER: Memory Manipulation. She first learned of her power in high school after her and her friend had gone through a traumatic experience and Rose wished she could will the pain away from her friend. And the next thing she knew she wasn’t just taking away the pain but the memories from her friend, and not just one, but they all seemed to hit her like a cascade and she couldn’t control what she was doing which left her friend eventually having to be submitted to the psych ward. After that she only did it to survive, to keep what she was safe, consequences be damned. In the right conditions she has done her best forms of memory manipulation, but when under pressure she has a tendency to botch things as she hasn’t gained full control over her abilities yet.

In other words moving through objects at will like they aren’t even there. Nick came across his ability when he was running from the police due to being caught buying drugs. While running from them he turned into an impasse but thought if he had enough speed he could climb over the wall but when he ran full speed at it he just moved right through it. Since he’s still learning how to properly use it, it happens sometimes that he can’t pass an object even though he could do it because he doesn’t fully understand yet how his ability really works. So for the time being its a 50/50 chance he succeeds in moving through things.

SUPER POWER: (3-5 sentences please) teagan’s abilities have grown with her over the years. the first signs of mutation appeared during puberty, manifesting during times of ANXIETY. stage one was the ability to breathe a toxic fume, something she struggled to control for a very long time. growing into her powers, teagan was able to not only trigger her breathing when needed, but control the POTENCY of the fumes as well. in time stage two developed: venomous bite & scratch; thankfully, she hadn’t suddenly sprouted fangs, but a thin NEUROTOXIN coats her teeth and nails, giving similar properties to that of mambas or rattlesnakes. ( see: fasciculin. )

Also: If you’re accepting any more teachers, I’d be interested. There’s a third level to Teagan’s mutation but for the sake of having her be more novice for the verse, I left that off to perhaps be discovered later. Sorry if this is a lot!
