Gyanvapi case: Varanasi court rejects Hindu side’s plea for additional ASI survey

In a setback to petitioners representing the Hindu side, a court in Varanasi on Friday rejected a plea seeking additional survey by the Archaeological Survey of India at the Gyanvapi complex.

Civil Judge (senior division), of Fast Track Court, Varanasi, dismissed the petition filed by Vijay Shankar Rastogi.

यूपी में वाराणसी जिला न्यायाधीश की अदालत में एक महिला ने सोमवार को याचिका दाखिल कर ज्ञानवापी मस्जिद परिसर में बंद अन्य सभी तहखानों का भारतीय पुरातत्व सर्वेक्षण (एएसआई) से सर्वेक्षण कराने की मांग की है. जिला अदालत ने अर्जी पर सुनवाई के लिए 6 फरवरी की तारीख तय की है. विश्व वैदिक सनातन संघ की संस्थापक सदस्य और मां श्रृंगार गौरी मामले में एक पक्षकार राखी सिंह ने यह याचिका दाखिल की है, जिनकी पहले की एक याचिका पर एएसआई सर्वेक्षण हुआ था.

ASI Survey : भारतीय पुरातत्व सर्वेक्षण (एएसआई) ने पिछले तीन महीनों में वाराणसी में ज्ञानवापी परिसर का अपना सर्वेक्षण लगभग पूरा कर लिया है। हालाँकि जिला अदालत में सर्वेक्षण रिपोर्ट जमा करने में कथित देरी हुई है जो मूल रूप से आज यानी कि 17 नवंब�� के लिए निर्धारित थी। सूत्रों के मुताबिक एएसआई रिपोर्ट जमा करने के लिए अतिरिक्त समय की मांग कर सकता है। जिला न्यायाधीश डॉ. अजय कृष्ण विश्वेश ने 2 नवंबर को एक आदेश जारी कर एएसआई को अपनी रिपोर्ट सौंपने का निर्देश दिया था।

SC to hear on Tuesday Masjid Committee’s plea against ‘pooja’ in Gyanvapi cellar

The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear on Tuesday the plea filed by the Anjuman Intezamia Masjid Committee against the Varanasi court’s order allowing Hindu parties to offer prayers and pooja in the southern cellar or basement (tehkhana) of the Gyanvapi Mosque.

As per the causelist published on the website of the apex court, a bench presided over by CJI DY Chandrachud will take up the matter for hearing on July 23.

yesterday (31.01.24), authorities in delhi demolished the 600-year-old akhoonji masjid without any prior warning. the mosque was surveyed in 2022 but no report was ever published.

suhail shaikh, the father of one of the students, muhammad hafizul shaikh, who was studying in the madrasa (the school which was part of the mosque compound) says that he does not know where his son has been taken and isn’t allowed to meet with him. he describes how he was harassed by authorities when he inquired about his son.

imam hafiz nasruddin, on behalf of the waqf board, describes the cold and foggy conditions in which the children and imams were forced to stand outside and describes the extent of destruction the bulldozers caused. not only were the masjid and madrasa destroyed, so were the qurans, the childrens’ belongings, their food, the cemetery and a shrine. authorities also confiscated all phones so nobody could be notified of what was happening.
