It's done! The final piece of my Dinluke big bang collab with the most inspiring @coriesocks! The whole wonderful and heart warming fic is up already so go go read I know places (where we can hide)! (This piece is for chapter 7!)

Great big shoutout to my author for being so kind, patient and supportive throughout this whole journey. I could not have hoped for a better partner!

So I've participated in the Dinluke servers big bang 2023! Here is the first of three pieces I've made for this incredible fic by the very lovely @coriesocks! Bonus content: heres the super speed summary of how I struggled through the dinluke big bang piece I started over 80 days ago! More thoughts and details on my process below to cut

- Overall wanna post this with all the flaws galore for my future self, not at all because I've just left the record function on, forgot about it and now I have this!

- Good reminder that the worst thing is blank paper and just getting something down okay, rough simple lines convey ideas its all good!

- Drawing on an airplane produces questionable results (the first more refined lines, not NEARLY enough references in use)

- Speaking of, never regretted following a reference over trying to improvise. I feel like it always looks better (that smoke is one good example!)

- Redrawing and redrawing sometimes is so worth it, other times you should just let it be and move on (those first trees before the yellow dotting were kinda okay honestly!)

- Less all sorts of different brushes is better, for consistency :')

- Theres many parts I'd forgotten that in hindsight maybe look better than the end result (like overall composition being bigger and with better feeling of space) but choices were made and I gotta choose to be happy with and proud of the completed piece, afterall its better than all the dusty never finished wips.

- Definitely didn't quite follow the big bang deadlines, I'm sorry :') in general I'd consider that greyscale to be 20% sure (proof of idea and a layout figured out!) But hilariously after what I posted for even 80% I went and redid all that work. (Maybe its not actually totally redoing if you're making the same just improved! All the ground work took its own time and I wasn't starting from scratch at all.)

- At the very end it gets abruptly cut off, despite asking the program to leave on the last frame for a bit... Then I remembered the panic I had just yesterday, because the file for these screenshots took up too much disk space and caused Krita to crash, losing all the progress of like good bit of little adjustments and corrections. I guess I never turned the recording back on, so the very final few hours are missing, but thats okay! This is not professional! (Spot the absolutely tiny differences with the final image posted :p)

-Also realizing after many a rewatch, there's been some glitch with it not recording me recolouring the characters entirely!! How sad, but you can see the difference from when they pop up around the time I'm redoing the trees and at 02.53 and when they return all redone at 03.07

- Theres a lot I don't love, theres a lot that could be better if done differently, but I really have to start being okay with being done rather than perfect!

- Really proud of myself for dedicating to doing a more involved and detailed background/scene than i've ever done before digitally. I've pushed beyond my comfort zone of just characters with a hint of a background, it will get better from here!

- Did I need to post this with all sorts of bits missing? No, definitely not, but hopefully someone will find this interesting, and my future self feels that this was helpful!

Dear internet, how do i get over the fear of ruining a sketchbook by drawing in it when i literally just bought it because i really want to draw more with much lower stakes to hopefully help my perfectionism out and just enjoy drawing silly shit that itches my brain??

God that mood where you both need to do stuff and want to do stuff but both needs are vague and have too many options so you just. Do nothing you want or need to do and realize all the time you had is disappearing. A good time!!!

Good morning!! I just worked on these instead of sleeping... WIP of a vision I had a few months ago while struggling at finishing uni. Dinluke but make it roughly 80s or 90s high school :))

This isn't even THE idea, but I'm having a nice time first sort of fleshing out the character/outfit, so what do we think??

Took those self indulgent doodles and colored them in! They just beat up a bunch of bad guys together :))

Hello look! Its a WIP pt 2! Colouring remains the bane of my existence i dunno why, but i think the base colours are ok, now to figure out how i’ll actually refine them :) Also thinking that i should crop them in eventually, i’m probably not gonna really utilize all this background space more than as the suggestion of lockers i think.

Its actually kinda fun posting the progress, AND im having a good time drawing again too, so i hope yous dont mind! Maybe these’ll actually get finished during next week <3

5/31 for the @lukeskywalkerfanart Luke Skywalker inktober prompts!

1. Nature - I just know Luke has a little food garden at his Jedi Temple and encourages his lil’ padawans to help out and get in touch with nature… (Din would not be allowed near, I have a feeling he has the opposite of a green thumb)

2. Burn - I almost went with like a lightsaber burn, but a SUN burn is also a burn and more wholesome. Luke thinks growing up on a desert planet makes him immune… Din has space after-sun packed after the first time he turned red as a tomato post day in the sun.

3. Vision - Of course a little homage to one of the many cool scenes from ESB :)

4. “Who are you?” - I had to look up where the quote was from, but on re-watch of the scene I was reminded how much I LOVE Rey’s design!!

5. Loss - One of many tragedies and losses Luke is to face in his journey :(( RIP Aunt Beru and Uncle Owen.

IM ALSO MAKING A FIX IT bc whats hurt w out the comfort?? Anyway hehehoo to drawing again!! (Thoughts on the pencil brush? Rn its making me like my stuff better, but it does look v rough and not like clean lineart most people do? Should i try and line it cleanly or let it be soft??)

A veeery self indulgent drawing time to try and make myself just try again! :)) I'm v pleased with how the sketch/outline came out so I'm gonna stop second guessing and post it <3

(Woooah we’re half way there!! Yes these are little overdue, keeping up with mental health and all at the same time is the true challenge! I’ve also decided to postpone the 16-20 batch until after I’ve finished the rest, since I want to do all of those based on fanfics and I wanna do them well!!)

11. Prison - based entirely on an early scene from @purplesauris beautiful fic Taste Your Beating Heart (It is explicit! So be smart and don’t be underage/ do mind the tags!) The setting is that Luke the vampire and Din the father of a little vamp Grogu first meet in a tiny cell of beskar, but how will they get out?? Read and see ;)

12. Mercy - I almost went and did one of the alternatives here aka “I will not fight you” but as much as I love the scene I really struggled to pic a clear good screenshot so eh! Rather we get Luke showing mercy and showing the fact being good is a hard choice you have to keep making, not something you just are.

13. Casual - Fluff!! We need some!! Let them just be happy and domestic and enjoy being with each other and have matching Grogu themed socks!! It’s the life I crave too…

14. Out of control - Honestly? Same. A vent piece expressing I just really want someone to hold me tight while I cry out all the shitty bullshit!!! It’s okay to not be in control at all times, it’s wonderful to trust someone else to keep you safe when you’re not all together y’know?

15. Compassion - Luke my baby you’re compassionate to a fault!! You can’t keep risking your life and the universe running after your friends!! No ofc you can it is integral to your character and why we love you

6. A new hope - So this is more jokey than anything else I admit! I could’ve gone for any scene from the movie, (i.e. the iconic sunset one!) but nooo I went with exhausted father Din Djarin sick of his boyfriend/husband Lukes antics aka the fact that the -original- poster has such a ridiculous open front with ridiculousler abs. This particular picture refused to come together. I’m sorry but I’m TRYING

7. Connection - Based in the fact after this month I want to do a LOT more art based on fanfics, here’s one based on none in specific but  AU: what if they met on Tatooine in a random workshop before ANH ever happened? 

8. Enemy -  I was this close to dedicating this one to Jabba my mortal enemy. But I will never draw slave outfit Leia because I have too much love and respect for queen Carrie. So instead this ridiculous screencap of the fight with Boba Fett where Luke does in fact just cut Bobas gun in half!! FUN!

9. Friend´-  Probably absolutely most self explanatory. But I will tell you trying to get their faces even remotely right in this picture specifically nearly brought me to tears. Yes, thank you I am working on my perfectionist tendencies!

10. Hot Chocolate -  My undeniable favourite so far I think. Just you know between these 3 lovelies nightmares are gonna be pretty common. But what can’t be made a little better and easier to cope with than a mug of hot chocolate and cuddles from a little green alien??
