Mikey had a plan, a stupid one, some may argue, but a plan nonetheless.

With the ability to see the future, you’d think he’d use it to save himself, wouldn’t you? Well, you’d be wrong. He’d instead set himself up to die, because what choice does he have? If he wanted to keep living, he had to die first.

The portal to send Casey Jr. to the past wouldn’t have killed him, not that anyone but him knew that. If he didn’t do what he did, he would’ve lived.

But what he was doing, what they were all doing, wasn’t living, it was surviving.

Out of his brothers, Mikey knows he’s definitely not the smartest, that went to Donatello, and Donatello only.

Unfortunately for his family, they couldn’t preserve his “innocence” and “naivety” like they’d wanted. Mikey knew now of the pains of sacrifice and death. He matured, he learned, and he survived.

He’d decided to go down on his own terms.

And, even with the little time between opening the portal and his death, he’d done a lot.

Something that would go unrealized for quite some time.

But, we’re straying from the point here. Point is, that portal wouldn’t have killed him, that is, if he only made one portal.

Had he made only that one, he wouldn’t have died.

But he wanted to give the family he could reach, a chance to live again.

A chance to rest easy.

If you don't, please go check them out. But they're a huge inspiration for me. @/chiangyorange 's fic,

"we'll meet again, soon" is what I took the most inspiration from. The concept they came up with spoke to me so I came up with something original, stemming from that idea. (Which I hope is fine)

Not sure if it'll be a full fleshed out fic, or just a fic made up of different shorts having to do with the AU.

There probably won’t be a lot of content for me to give about it for a while other than a few smaller shorts, since I have to write more stuff out.

But either way, it's something I really want to do.

He would come back, he would. But, the weight of what he was doing finally settled onto his shoulders. It was, magnificent, amazing, but also terrifying. He had the power to change anything. Mikey was changing the rules of the game while the game was progressing.

He didn’t believe in fate, but he was sure messing with it. Tampering with the strings of fate and her projects, cutting ties and threading new ones.

She’d come back to strike him down eventually.

Hey hey! At some point soon (I hope) I’ll be reposting chapter one of Rest Easy, when that happens I’ll put an update here.

But basically, it’s undergoing major changes because when I posted it I was tired and excited. So I wasn’t thinking straight.

I promise you the re-read will be worth it.
