pedro pascal / 48 / cismale —have you noticed that THEO SILVA is back in town? the BARTENDER is apparently pretty LOYAL, but HE can also be a little JUDGEMENTAL. HE is always blasting IN THE AIR TONIGHT by PHIL COLLINS, as it makes them think of something from their past. i hope the VIRGO has a better time here than most.
tw: illness, death, homophobia
At the age of seven, nearly eight, the Silva family were the targets of a home robbery that left Theo without parents and sent to live with his Uncles at the other end of the continent. They always wanted kids, but not like this.
Uncle Evan was the brother of Theo's mom, but Theo developed a closer bond with his uncle's husband, Uncle Matthew, that he did with his blood relation. The man's quiet nature made him a better companion for the grieving child and together they cultivated a love for the outdoors.
Theo learned how to garden and grew an apple tree from a seed just like his kindergarten class taught him, he grew little herbs on the windowsill and watched Uncle Evan throw them in food and drinks and felt like he contributed. He also liked seeing that he could keep something alive, even if plants weren't the same as people.
He had a green thumb, but also bloody knuckles. Not all of his time was spent growing herbs and participating in 4H club. Not everyone was tolerant of Theo's family and when people tried to take it out on him, Theo pushed back. Uncle Matthew didn't approve of fighting, but Uncle Evan did, and that was the start of lessons at the gym in self defense and for the first time since moving, Theo found something besides blood to share with Evan - boxing.
As all kids do, he grew up, but he never moved far away from his family, attending college only an hour away. He wasn't a phenomenal student, never was, but Theo knew they were proud of him and supported him anyway, through thick and thin. Evan used to say that Theo needed to get a fancy diploma and go on to be a millionaire so he could support Evan and Matt once they were addled old men, and Theo always laughed and said he would, even though he knew he'd never be rich.
What happened next would have been easier if he was. Matt was diagnosed with cancer during Theo's second year of college and bills quickly piled up. Theo eventually dropped out and threw himself fully into work to try helping, but helping with the finances didn't help Matt, who lost his battle and seemed to take part of Evan with him.
There wasn't any returning to college after that, just working and trying to look out for Evan, who was never the same. The jokes about taking care of him in his old age no longer seemed like jokes, for all that Evan was only in his sixties. That still seemed like it was too young for Evan to fall apart, at least in Theo's mind.
It wasn't the life Theo planned, and he knew it wasn't the one Uncle Matt wanted for him, but Theo made do as the years past, time adding up until college was a half forgotten memory. He worked a variety of odd jobs, bouncing around between things that didn't requite any qualifications until one of Evan's friends mentioned needing a new bartender soon, and promising to hire Theo if he got certified. It would cost, but the pay raise would make up for it in a month or two.
That's where he met Lucy, and it felt like love at first sight. She became a light for him, a joy as things with Evan became worse. Theo knew his hours were difficult, that he was often preoccupied and stressed because of his family, and Lucy always seemed to handle it with grace. She handled it with grace for a few years and by the time Evan grew worse, they were engaged. Their apartment was small, and Theo was filled with ideas of moving into Evan and Matthew's old house with her one day, renovating it and having a small family with her.
Then Evan passed away from health complications and Lucy admitted to cheating on him, claiming she hadn't wanted to weigh him down with the knowledge when he was dealing with Evan in the hospital, and then the funeral. In Theo's mind, it wasn't any better finding out his fiancee was leaving him for the man she'd been having an affair with while he was grieving, and the split ended up acrimonious.
With his family dead or gone, Theo's life felt empty and he sold everything tying him to his old life before packing up and crossing the continent once again to restart his life.

Name: Ricardo Vivaldi
Age: Fifty-Three Years Old.
Pronouns: He/Him.
Gender: Cis Man
Sexuality: Heterosexual.
Occupation: Owner of Vivaldi Construction & Land Closer.
Hometown: Quebec, Canada.
Location: Hail, Ontario, Canada.
Positive Traits: Disciplined.
Negative Traits: Violent.
Favorite Song: Where Do We Go From Here by Charles Bradley.
Beneath the read more you’ll find a basic biography which will be updated as time goes on. For now this is the outline of Ricardo Vivaldi. Tw: Parental Death, Divorce, Affair, Violence & Crime.
BIOGRAPHY
Ricardo Vivaldi was born in Tijuana, Mexico in 1970 to his mother, Isabel and father, Carlos Vivaldi. For the first six years of his life he was a bright happy-go lucky lad who more often than he should sassed his mother with his wit and humor. Their lives were comfortable, and the boy had never had to want for anything but they were not outrageously wealthy. His relationship with his mother was solid, his father, however, had always been far more distant. Busy with work.
However, things would quickly change when his father moved them to Canada. With Vivaldi Construction beginning to take off, most of the business being located over the Canadian border, his father knew the move was necessary.
Growing up, Ricardo was a gifted young man, showing exceptional intelligence in multiple languages and a talent for mathematics and science. He'd pursued his education in college as soon as he graduated, eventually earning a Ph.D. in international business from the prestigious Wharton Business School.
Years passed, and the company grew and just like he was expected to, he married a well-to-do girl from a good family and kept moving forward. He was all about family, but things had changed over the years. Business came first, not that any of them cared about it. His mother was living comfortably, he had a great company that he'd one day take over and he had...her.
His wife who did very little for him. She was a wonderful person, and it made it all that much harder when he tried to love her but came up flat. He was planning to leave her, make it quiet so that it didn't affect business but when his father fell sick, the company shifted over to him immediately. While both Ricardo and his father knew it was time for him to step in, it was the worst time for Ricardo.
He was watching his dad die, and there was no way he could break it to his wife that he wanted a divorce while all of this was going on. If it leaked it'd be bad for business. So he played his part. Kept up the facade.
When his father passed that morning, he was heart broken. Ricardo assumed full control. Under his leadership, the company has become a multi-million dollar enterprise, known for its high-quality work and efficient project management. Despite his success in the business world, Ricardo is known for his harsh, cold, and condescending demeanor. He expects nothing but the best from his employees and is not afraid to criticize or even fire those who fail to meet his standards. He had a sharp tongue and a tendency to intimidate others with his intelligence and forceful personality. Some said a force to be reckoned with.
Others said he was the devil reincarnate. Ricardo had spent his entire career working for Vivaldi Construction, starting from the bottom and working his way up the ranks. He has a deep understanding of the construction industry and is known for his innovative solutions to complex problems.
However, things would once again change once the company became his. Business, itself, would grow and keep growing. Creating new parts, expanding and of course, taking under the table payments from those who required particular services.
Like the one that had landed him in Hail in the midst of his divorce.
When a potential buyer expressed interest in Hail, Canada, Ricardo was sent to survey and purchase the land in which they wanted. He negotiated a deal that was highly favorable to Vivaldi Construction, securing the company's future for years to come. However, it wasn't that easy and they wouldn't give up the land easily, especially for something as big and gaudy as his buyers wanted. So he was bringing out the big guns for the job.
Himself.
PERSONALITY.
Despite his academic accomplishments, Ricardo is known for being harsh, cold, and condescending. He is not one to mince words and has little patience for those he deems to be intellectually inferior. He can be blunt to the point of rudeness and is not afraid to speak his mind, even if it means offending others.
Ricardo is a private person and keeps his personal life separate from his professional one. He is not known to have any close friends prefers to spend his free time alone, working on research projects. In his free time, Ricardo enjoys reading books on business and economics, as well as playing chess and other strategy games. He is a true workaholic and rarely takes time off from his responsibilities at Vivaldi Construction.

adria arjona / 31 / cis woman —have you noticed that ALONDRA NARVAEZ is back in town? the HOCKEY COACH is apparently pretty DETERMINED, but SHE can also be a little INFLEXIBLE. SHE is always blasting NATURAL by IMAGINE DRAGONS, as it makes them think of something from their past. i hope the ARIES has a better time here than most. — (enci / 27 / she/her / gmt+1)
PAST
trigger warning: mentions of drugs, alcohol
Alondra was born and raised in Hail, her parents coming into the country a few years before she was born, wanting to live the American Dream and a better life for their family and Alondra's older sibling.
Alondra has always been the jock of the family, interested in every sport she could stumble into, but from a relatively early age she was drawn to skating and then consequently hockey. Her parents were worried for her first, but she insisted and kept insisting until she was let to try at least.
She turned out to be a pretty big talent from the get go and with the dedication and work she put into it, she became the best player in the town - to the point where she had a bright future ahead of her, very strong possibility to becoming professional and going the distance. The American Dream her parents hoped for, embodied by her, and they were so proud.
And then came the accident - it was the typical, boring story. Alondra got her driving license and thought she was on the top of the world until she swirled off of the road and right into a tree. Nobody was involved, she was the only person in the car and she was the only person who got her - hurt enough that her potential career was over before she could even begin it. And she had so much promise.
To say that she didn't take it well would be an understatement. Everything she's never experienced before - alcohol, parties, drugs, sex -, she burried herself into all of them to cope. There was nothing left to keep her from them anyway, why not just go all out. Nobody could really tame her or help her.
In the end her parents and her older sibling managed to do one thing: convince her to apply to college and get out of the town. It was what helped her get her shit together for the most part - the changed scenery, new people, new experiences. She was never really good at academics, she never actually finished college, but it was still enough to come back as a collected person.
Her old coach was getting old at that point, hired her to be an assisstant coach and she worked as one for several years alongside her coach, so close to what she could have had yet so far still. And when her coach retired, she took over and now coached all ages to hockey.
PRESENT
These days Alondra presents herself as somebody who has it all figured out. She went through hell and back and she came out better for it, dedicates herself to teaching the new generation, is personable and bubbling and smiling and tries to live her best life.
In reality, she is still very much thinking about the what ifs and has a self destructive streak about her - if she can make life hard for herself, she absolutely will, whether that means sleeping with a parent of one of her kids she coaches or picking a fight with her own parents about absolutely nothing. She is trying her best, but that isn't always the best tihng she can do.
Dyson Bergeron was one of those she trained and she still hasn't been able to wrap her head around what happened, how could a young life, a young star die so quickly, in such a horrible and sudden manner.
HEADCANONS
She is called Lolo by her family members
She started hiking and running after her accident and irregularly, but goes swimming sometimes too
She is bisexual
When she was 20, not too long into her spiraling, she went on a bender with a woman and merely after a few hours of knowing her, they eloped and got married - it got annuled relatively quickly but there was a time when she wondered what would have happened if it didn't
She ends up falling asleep on the couch more often than in her bed and sleeps better there
Her family owns a little restaurant where they sell traditional Puerta Rican food, most the family recipies the parents knew and cherrished
POTENTIAL CONNECTIONS
People she is training (younger characters potentially?) or the family members of kids she is training
People she grew up with, those who knew her before her accident and saw her after - everyone witnessed the toll it took, but they saw into it in a deeper level
Hiking buddy maybe?
Hook up / exes of any kind
People she maybe worked with in her family's restaurant over the years
Honestly anything and everything, I am down to clown

Introduction ;;
Name: Renée O'Connor
Age: Thirty Five Years Old.
Pronouns: She/Her
Gender: Cis Woman.
Sexuality: Heterosexual.
Occupation: Crime Novelist & Bookstore Owner.
Hometown: London, England.
Location: Hail, Ontario, Canada.
Positive Traits: Passionate
Negative Traits: Reserved
Favorite Song: Eleanor Rigby by The Beatles.
Beneath the read more you'll find a basic biography which will be updated as time goes on. Tw: Parental neglect.
BIOGRAPHY
Renée was the black sheep of the family, tough skinned, yet, weirdly reserved and shy on the outer layers of her personality. Her family were hailed one of the top twenty richest families in the United Kingdom, although, it'd seeped into who they were as people. They'd once been so loving, no they were cold creatures who hissed at the mere thought of affection.
Renée was the youngest of three, which included herself, her old brother and sister. And all of them she'd also been the most disappointing child to bear the O'Connor name. They were all lawyers. The family name had been carried through the generations and they were the best at it. Their firm had been one of the best. And while it'd provided all the luxuries she could have desired growing up, it'd been void of the one thing she craved the most. Her parents love.
They didn't know how to love, had never understood what it meant to be actual parents. Unless, of course, it was her older siblings. They were the families jewels, the kids that could do no wrong. And that was because they followed their parents words like letter to the law.
Renée had never been like them.
Her mind had been far too wild for them to handle. They'd never known how to spark their imaginations unless it was in a court room and when Renée tried to explain her dreams she was shunned. Nothing could take that pain away like feeling like an outcast in her own home. However, she'd dominated her school, a private education and the best there was.
She was one of those girls that always had her head in a book. She'd never been the most social of creatures and it'd aided towards her ability to focus on her studies. Exams and paperwork were her thing, and she knew she had it in her genes. The family business. But it made her skin crawl.
So when she hit sixteen she began writing. Anything and everything she could, and everywhere anyone would let her. Thankfully, she was able to use her family's name to get a meeting and before she knew it she was selling best sellers.
Although her parents didn't support it, they were somewhat pleased that Renée's found stardom shone light on the firm and brought in new clientele. So for that, as always, her father was happy with a business transaction than he was his own daughters success. Renée spent her years building up her reputation until it all came tumbling down around her.
A scandal the papers called it. Her name splashed across every major out let and a shame upon her family's name. A one night stand gone wrong when images were leaked; and her father finally put his foot down. He wanted her to move to a small town and start fresh, away from the spotlight or they'd disown her.
He found the place, a town called Hail. She had to stay for a couple of years and work in a book store that he'd brought for her. He wanted her to take the time to think about her actions, and the embarrassment she'd caused her family. She couldn't believe the proposal when she'd heard it, hurt beyond belief that they'd send her away. But she couldn't help but get the feeling she needed to start fresh.
So she moved. A fresh start. But she knew nothing stayed hidden forever. People talked, she would know. She'd been a part of the socialite-lifestyle for half of her life. She'd stay here and do what her family wanted because that was what was expected of her.
Or would she finally stand up for herself and split from her family.

julia dalavia / twenty - four / cis woman — have you noticed that YARA DIAZ is back in town? the FIREFIGHTER & WAITRESS AT MOONRISE DINER is apparently pretty SEDULOUS, but SHE can also be a little CLOSED-OFF. SHE is always blasting MARINADE by DOPE LEMON, as it makes them think of something from their past. i hope the ARIES has a better time here than most.
stats .
name : yara elliana diaz
age : twenty - four
date of birth : march 25, 1999
hometown : hail, ontario, canada
occupation : firefighter & waitress at moonrise diner
orientation : homosexual
status : single
parents : mateo diaz & fernanda blanco
siblings : n/a
history .
tw : substance abuse.
yara's parents were only seventeen when they found out they'd be having a baby. both were about to graduate and head off to college, leaving little time to learn the ropes of responsible parenting. income was tight as well, making it all the more challenging.
they dated on and off until their early twenties, never quite finding themselves on the same page. most nights led to arguments, either over money or problems in their relationship. over time, it became clear they would never be able to build a future together, much less offer a stable, loving home for their daughter.
their only saving grace was mateo's mother, alma. the woman worked tirelessly to put food on the table and provide a roof over her children's heads. once fernanda entered nursing school, yara's grandmother became her primary caregiver.
days as a housekeeper were long and strenuous, so it wasn't uncommon for mrs. diaz to bring yara and her two younger children with her when she worked nights or weekends. she'd often leave them at the diner for a few hours to do homework, where the owner was a trusted friend of hers and could keep an eye on them.
mateo began working in construction to help pay the bills, leaving less time to spend with his daughter. it also drove a deeper wedge between him and fernanda. she was close to finishing school and had come to the realization she'd never be content in their small town. the day she left would haunt her father for years to come, even if yara was too young to realize they'd been abandoned.
a few years later, mateo suffered a serious injury at work that kept him out of commission for months. during that time, he became reliant on prescription opioids, eventually leading to addiction.
yara continued to stay with her grandmother while her father bounced in and out of rehab. he'd return every so often to plead for money, claiming it was for rent or utilities, only to blow it on more drugs. when alma finally put her foot down and cut him off, he started turning to yara for help.
at only 16, she didn't fully grasp the seriousness of his condition. her first job waitressing, she gave what little she earned in tips to him. a part of her felt sorry about what had transpired and hoped he might turn his life around. he never did, of course. and each time, her belief in him waned, along with her trust.
as yara grew older, she became more privy to his lies, unable to decide who she was more disappointed with. her mother—for leaving—or him, for staying and manipulating her.
yara opted to attend trade school after graduation in search of greener pastures. she needed time away from hail, even if her absence was only temporary. while there, she pursued a degree in carpentry, always liking the idea of taking something broken and mending it. it was a passion spurred by her uncle, who grew up fixing dirt bikes in their garage.
when yara returned home, she began working part-time for a local contractor. the pay was nice but jobs weren't guaranteed, so she had no choice but to seek other forms of work. luckily, she found a job with the fire department and joined when she was 22. it wasn't something yara ever saw herself doing, yet the experience turned out to be a gratifying one. having spent most of her life feeling undervalued, she was grateful to be making a difference.
since the fire, she's gone back to waitressing at the diner to help out an old friend. a lot of people lost their belongings in the fire, including the establishment's owner. she was someone yara held a lot of generosity towards, thankful for the times she'd snuck her free blueberry pancakes as a kid.
yara does what she can to help out the community, oftentimes stretching herself too thin. her social life is pretty grim at the moment, but she's making a concerted effort to find time for her hobbies again.
personality .
yara's grandmother raised her to be strong and independent. she emphasized the importance of hard work, knowing that nothing in life came handed to you.
witnessing her parents' relationship up until the bitter end made her cynical about love. she's dated in the past, but the notion of finding someone to be your life partner sounds a bit naïve to her.
it's very difficult for her to let her guard down around people. she can come across as cold or distant but will show she cares through her actions.
beneath her tough exterior is really a girl who wants to feel acknowledged by the people in her life. her parents' neglect stems deeper beyond a need for validation. she wants to believe desperately that her life has purpose.

former hockey player, current lost boy
Benjamin Fraser || 21 || Cis Male
the moment benjamin could hold a hockey stick, the ice became his home.
he wasn’t the best, but he had potential and damn, did he wield that potential like a weapon. he was always getting better - always adapting. he was resilient. persistent. flexible. you couldn’t keep him down - no matter how many times you checked him. he’d spit up blood and get back up. in the locker room, he’d take off his gear and count the bruises on his body.
he wasn’t the best, but he was going somewhere. he was going to be professional. a college athlete - he earned his spot, he earned his scholarship. he was on top of the world.
and then he was down on the ice.
and he didn’t get back up.
a torn acl.
he watched his dreams go up in flames.
unsure of what else to do with his life, he moved back home to hail and sulked in his childhood bedroom. he tried to still be adaptable. still try to be resilient and flexible and all that shit. the when life gives you lemons, make lemonade type. he tried. but whenever he thought of all he lost and saw his former teammates succeeding, he wanted to cry.
but his parents and siblings pressured him to find a job - to move on, as if all the years of hard work were nothing and hockey was just a game.
but he eventually broke. he couldn’t stand being cooped up any longer anyway - too impatient and antsy to wait for something to happen. so he got a job as a waiter at moonrose diner and decided to go with the flow.
and then life got worse.
a fire ravaged the town. his entire childhood - up in smoke. not metaphorically this time. and his former teammate, dyson bergeon, found dead.
he hears the gossiping, he sees the pointing fingers, as if this was all a murder mystery game and not an actual, real life person ripped from the pages of life itself. and he wonders, if...hey, were some of those fingers pointing at him?
