Hay personas que no pueden ni parar un segundo, ni pasar toda una tarde sentadas tranquilas en el sofá. Yo no formo parte de este grupo, pero mi madre sí. Ella ha trabajado muy duro durante toda su vida y cuando tuvo mucho más tiempo libre le resultó insoportable. Desde entonces, han ido surgiendo mil hobbys: empezando por un puzzle de 9000 piezas que tardó años en terminar, seguido de clases de guitarra, de lo que ahora ya es toda una experta, y terminando por uno de sus grandes amores; el crochet. Precisamente este último ha sido el que, poco a poco, se ha convertido en más que una afición hasta evolucionar en su pequeño negocio, 22 Cactus Knit . Primero, empezó haciendo cactus decorativos y de ahí fue explorando con distintos materiales hasta pasar a crear bolsos de raffia, todos únicos y espectaculares. Porque, si algo tiene mi madre, es que a ella le gusta hacer las cosas auténticamente y a su manera, siguiendo su inspiración, por eso nunca repetía ningún modelo. Hasta ahora. Ayer se estrenó su primera colección cápsula con Audrey Leighton Vintage , la marca en la que trabajo. Una serie muy limitada de bolsos, todos hechos a mano, uno a uno, en rafia natural y con el sello de Audrey, una preciosa asa de perlas. Durante los últimos dos meses, la hemos estado fotografiando por todo París y yo no pude evitar hacerme estas fotos. Tal vez os parecerá una exageración (a ella seguro), pero para mí esta colaboración representa el triunfo de nuestra manera de ser, vivir y sentir. Ambas somos muy tozudas, seguras de nosotras mismas y de lo que nos gusta (y de lo que no). De algún modo, esta colaboración con ella a nivel profesional es el triunfo de todo esto. De la individualidad, la tozudez de siempre tirar hacia delante, de la autenticidad, el ser fieles a las cosas que nos gustan, pese a quien le pese, y, en definitiva, a nuestras ideas.  No siempre nos sale bien, pero los bolsos de mi señora madre se están a punto de agotar en menos de 24h. No digo más.

There are people who cannot even stop for a second, or spend an entire afternoon sitting quietly on the sofa. I am not part of this group, but my mother is. She has worked very hard all her life and when she had a lot more free time she found it unbearable. Since then, a thousand hobbies have sprung up: starting with a 9,000-piece puzzle that took years to finish, followed by guitar lessons, in which she is now an expert, and ending with one of her great loves; crochet. It is precisely this last one that, little by little, has become more than a hobby until it has evolved into her small business, 22 Cactus Knit. First, she started making decorative cacti and from there she explored with different materials until she started creating raffia bags, all of them unique and spectacular. Because, if my mother has something, it is that she likes to do things authentically and in her own way, following her inspiration, which is why she never repeated any style. Until now. Yesterday her first capsule collection premiered with Audrey Leighton Vintage, the brand I worked for. A very limited series of bags, all handmade, one by one, in natural raffia and with Audrey's stamp, a beautiful pearl handle. For the last two months, we have been photographing her all over Paris and I couldn't help but take these photos. Perhaps it will seem like an exaggeration (to her for sure), but for me this collaboration represents the triumph of our way of being, living and feeling. We are both very stubborn, sure of ourselves and what we like (and what we don't). In a way, this collaboration with her on a professional level is the triumph of all this. Of individuality, the stubbornness of always pushing forward, of authenticity, being faithful to the things we like, despite whoever likes it, and, ultimately, to our ideas. It doesn't always work out for us, but my mother's bags are about to run out in less than 24 hours. No more needs to be said.
