7 Expert Tips to Help You Arrange Wooden Sofa Set Furniture in Any Room
Wooden sofa set furniture is a great choice for adding warmth, elegance, and comfort to your living space. Whether you have a traditional or modern style, wooden sofa sets can complement any decor and create a cozy atmosphere. However, arranging wooden sofa set furniture can be tricky, especially if you have a small or irregularly shaped room. How do you make the most of your space and ensure that your wooden sofa set furniture looks good and functions well? Here are 10 expert tips to help you arrange wooden sofa set furniture in any room.
Tumblr media
1. Measure your space and furniture
Before you start moving your wooden l Shape sofa set furniture around, you need to measure your space and furniture. This will help you determine how much space you have to work with and what size and shape of furniture will fit best. You can use a tape measure, a ruler, or an online tool like Roomsketcher to measure your space and furniture. Make sure you also measure the height, width, and depth of your furniture, as well as the distance between the furniture and the walls, windows, doors, and other features.
2. Choose a focal point
A focal point is the element that draws attention and sets the tone for the room. It can be a fireplace, a TV, a window, a painting, or anything else that you want to highlight. Choosing a focal point will help you decide where to place your wooden sofa set furniture and how to arrange it around the focal point. For example, if your focal point is a fireplace, you can place your wooden sofa set furniture facing the fireplace or perpendicular to it, creating a cozy and inviting seating area.
Tumblr media
3. Balance the furniture
Balance is important for creating a harmonious and aesthetically pleasing arrangement of wooden sofa set furniture. Balance means that the furniture is distributed evenly and proportionally throughout the room, creating a sense of symmetry and stability. You can achieve balance by using different methods, such as:
Symmetrical balance: This means that the furniture is arranged in a mirror image on either side of a central axis, such as the focal point or the center of the room. For example, you can place two identical sofas facing each other, with a coffee table in between, and two matching chairs on either side of the fireplace.
Asymmetrical balance: This means that the furniture is arranged in a way that creates visual interest and contrast, without being exactly the same on both sides. For example, you can place a large sofa on one side of the room, and a smaller sofa and a chair on the other side, with a side table and a lamp to balance the weight and height of the furniture.
Radial balance: This means that the furniture is arranged in a circular or semi-circular pattern around a central point, such as a round coffee table or a rug. For example, you can place four chairs around a round coffee table, creating a cozy and intimate conversation area.
4. Consider the traffic flow
Traffic flow is the way that people move around the room and access the furniture and other features. You want to make sure that your wooden sofa set furniture does not block or hinder the traffic flow, but rather facilitates it. You can consider the traffic flow by following these tips:
Leave enough space: You need to leave enough space between the furniture and the walls, doors, windows, and other furniture, so that people can walk around and through the room comfortably and safely. A general rule of thumb is to leave at least 30 inches (76 cm) of space for major traffic paths, and at least 15 inches (38 cm) of space for minor traffic paths.
Create zones: You can create zones in your room by grouping your wooden sofa set furniture according to their function and purpose. For example, you can create a seating zone, a dining zone, a reading zone, or a work zone. This will help you define the space and create a clear traffic flow between the zones.
Use rugs: Rugs are a great way to visually separate and connect the zones in your room. They can also add color, texture, and warmth to your wooden sofa set furniture. You can use rugs to anchor your furniture and create a cohesive look. Make sure that the rugs are large enough to accommodate the furniture, and that they do not extend beyond the furniture or the walls.
5. Mix and match the furniture
Mixing and matching your wooden sofa set furniture can add variety, personality, and charm to your room. You can mix and match your wooden sofa set furniture by using different styles, colors, patterns, and materials, as long as they complement each other and create a harmonious look. You can mix and match your wooden sofa set furniture by following these tips:
Use a common element: You can use a common element to tie your wooden sofa set furniture together, such as a color, a pattern, a material, or a theme. For example, you can use a blue color scheme, a floral pattern, a leather material, or a rustic theme to create a cohesive look for your wooden sofa set furniture.
Use contrast: You can use contrast to create visual interest and drama for your wooden sofa set furniture. Contrast means that you use opposite or different elements to create a striking effect, such as light and dark, smooth and rough, or simple and complex. For example, you can use a dark wooden sofa with a light cushion, a smooth wooden sofa with a textured rug, or a simple wooden sofa with a complex coffee table.
Use scale: You can use scale to create balance and proportion for your wooden sofa set furniture. Scale means that you use different sizes and shapes of furniture to create a sense of hierarchy and importance, such as large and small, tall and short, or wide and narrow. For example, you can use a large wooden sofa with a small side table, a tall wooden sofa with a short lamp, or a wide wooden sofa with a narrow coffee table.
6. Add accessories
Accessories are the finishing touches that add style, personality, and flair to your wooden sofa set furniture. Accessories can include pillows, throws, cushions, blankets, curtains, lamps, candles, plants, vases, books, art, and more. You can add accessories to your wooden sofa set furniture by following these tips:
Use the rule of three: You can use the rule of three to create a balanced and pleasing arrangement of accessories. The rule of three means that you use odd numbers of accessories, preferably three, to create a sense of harmony and interest. For example, you can use three pillows, three candles, or three plants to decorate your wooden sofa set furniture.
Use the 60-30-10 rule: You can use the 60-30-10 rule to create a balanced and pleasing color scheme for your accessories. The 60-30-10 rule means that you use three colors in your accessories, with 60% of the main color, 30% of the secondary color, and 10% of the accent color. For example, you can use blue as the main color, white as the secondary color, and yellow as the accent color for your accessories.
Use the golden ratio: You can use the golden ratio to create a balanced and pleasing proportion for your accessories. The golden ratio is a mathematical formula that creates a sense of harmony and beauty, and it is approximately 1.618. You can use the golden ratio to determine the size and shape of your accessories, such as the height and width of your pillows, the diameter and height of your candles, or the length and width of your rugs.
7. Consider the lighting
Lighting is an essential element that can enhance the mood, ambiance, and functionality of your wooden sofa set furniture. Lighting can also highlight the beauty and texture of your wooden sofa set furniture, creating a warm and cozy atmosphere. You can consider the lighting for your wooden sofa set furniture by following these tips:
Use natural light: You can use natural light to brighten up your room and make your wooden sofa set furniture look more spacious and inviting. You can use natural light by placing your wooden sofa set furniture near the windows, using sheer or light-colored curtains, or using mirrors to reflect the light.
Use artificial light: You can use artificial light to create different effects and moods for your wooden sofa set furniture, such as warm, cool, soft, or bright. You can use artificial light by using different types and sources of light, such as overhead, floor, table, wall, or accent lights. You can also use different colors and intensities of light, such as white, yellow, red, or blue, and dimmers, timers, or sensors to control the light.
Use layered light: You can use layered light to create a balanced and versatile lighting scheme for your wooden sofa set furniture. Layered light means that you use different levels and functions of light, such as ambient, task, and accent light. Ambient light is the general light that fills the room, such as overhead or floor lights. Task light is the specific light that helps you perform a certain activity, such as reading, writing, or working, such as table or wall lights. Accent light is the decorative light that highlights a certain feature or object, such as a fireplace, a painting, or a plant, such as candles, lamps, or spotlights.

"Try to bend forward" Tara told you as you now check the 3rd show room for the kitchen section.
"I don't know, it's a bit high for me, and I bet you can't reach me by then" you teased Tara with a laugh that made the other girl gasped.
"You just did not say that Y/N." Tara answered with a fake annoyance in her voice "Well I think we can lower it down right?" Tara said while finding a way if the both of you can just cut the excess wood so that it will both fit your height.
"Baby, let's find another island bench, we are just on the third room anyway." You said while patting Tara's head like a defeated puppy, "But I really like the color scheme of this one baby." Tara said.
"Come on now, if we can't find any, then we will buy this one." You said while kissing Tara's forehead which makes her pout but starts to follow you in the next showroom in which where a living room is set.
You sat down on the middle of the sofa and taps the empty seat on your right and said, "Babe, try to sit down." Tara looked at you with curiosity not knowing what you are planning not until you fakely tossed your phone into Tara's feet.
Tara almost went ahead and grab your phone not until you stopped her hand and you slowly bent your knees and spread Tara's thighs. Which surprised Tara, so now she is sitting on the sofa, her leg spread wide, and you between it, kneeling.
"Hmm..." you stated, "This is is a nice height and a perfect angle when I get to blow your strap." Your statement made Tara's blood rush to her face. You stand up and dusted your knees to look more for other things that you can buy. But that was shocking for Tara, because that was the first time you said that you'll gonna blow her with the strap-on ever since you have ever started dating.
"Come on tomato head we've got a lot of furniture to try on." you said while wearing a smile of victory knowing that you made Tara flustered.
But the only thing that was on Tara's head was "We should get home before we make a scene."
---
"FINALLY!" Tara exclaimed as the both of you finished to screw the last part of the side of the kitchen island that the both of you bought from IKEA four days ago. "I was waiting for this moment, finally." Tara then looked at you with a naughty smirk.
"Can we rest for tonight? My arms got so tired from lifting all these woods" you said while you try to find some mercy in Tara's eyes but your girlfriend was so determined on having you tonight.
Tara steps towards your directions slowly and reaches the side of your face with her hand. She caress it that made you sink into her palm and that relaxed your neck that gave her a lot of space for her face to nestle in.
Tara leaves small kisses into the side of your neck until she reaches your ear and bit your lobe, "Sweetheart, you won't be needing you hands for tonight I promise you."
Tara then anchors her free hand to your waist then started to pepper wet kisses into your neck that made you grab the back of Tara's head and slightly pulled her baby hairs when she is leaving a mark on your pulse point.
Slowly, Tara directed you to your new sofa, not getting off of each other. Tara was now standing in front of your sofa while she slowly pushes you down into your knees. You didn't notice your position as you were so drunk and drowned with Tara leaving marks on your neck.
"Did you think I forgot what you said when we bought this sofa?" Tara said with a sly smile on her face while sat down on the same place you told her when you were shopping for furniture.
Now, you were the one with a tomato head, your blood was now rushing to your cheeks which Tara held and said "Hey, relax baby" putting butterfly kisses throughout your face "We don't need to do this if you are not comfortable" and looked at you directly.
But you were Oh so ready for this day, you have been researching on how can you give the best head to your girlfriend with the dildo on but still giving her pleasure. You were just scared because you don't know if you'll give a good head, no, the BEST head that Tara will ever receive throughout her lifespan. That was your goal, to be the best.
You looked at Tara with determined eyes and kissed her lips passionately, "Thank you baby, but I want to do this." You said while Tara gives you an encouragingly nod.
You started to untie the sweat pants that she was wearing that made the strap swing, you were like a teenager who just saw a dick for the first time, which you are, because you have only been with women that do not explore when it comes to sex, so you were only used to fingers, tongues, and a couple of vibrators.
Tara then encouraged you to put the strap on your mouth when she started to gather your hair and made a pony with her hand "Come on, baby show me what that mouth can do."
You started to lick the head and stride your tongue down to the base. Tara looked at you with so much lust in her eyes that made you wet. Tara wants you to go on your own phase and trust her, if it was for her, her strap would be down your throat any second now with how dirty you lick her whole strap.
After quite some time, lubricating the strap, you then tried to fit the head of the strap in your mouth, slowingly lowering your head to almost fit the strap inside your watering mouth. And Tara then was pleased to see you try to swallow it as a whole.
You tried to really swallow Tara's strap bobbing your head up and down for a couple of minutes trying different angles which made Tara twitch from her seat and tighten her hold towards your hair.
You reached for the base with your right hand that made Tara tug your hair which made you let out a whimper "Nuh uh, baby, you'll only be using your lovely mouth. I remember you were using it pretty well snarking at me the other day." And with that you put both of your hands behind your back that made Tara buck her hips into your mouth that gagged you because holy shit, you being so helpless made her more even horny, she was now fucking your mouth and you were also surprised with you ability to just swallow Tara.
She then pulled the strap around your mouth and pulled you into the kitchen.
"Bend over." Tara said using her tone that you know you can't fight with, and that only made you more wet, imagining if Tara can fuck you like a sex toy and pound you hard while you were bent over pleading for a release.
Tara lowered your sleeping shorts and palmed you through your underwear, "Looks like I don't even need to tease you for tonight baby, you are soaking." and bunched your underwear to the side.
Tara snaked her right hand in front of you inserted her hand into your underwear and started to put pressure, starting with slow big circles from your clit to your drenched whole that made you grinding you ass to the strap. It just made you more wet and you started to release soft moans that encouraged Tara, "Beg."
One word, Tara dropped that one word you were wishing to not hear for tonight. You were so shy to beg for Tara when you two have sex, so you just wait until Tara gets soft to you and fuck you senseless, but tonight, you feel that it's gonna be different.
Tara then started to guide the strap with her left hand onto your slit, dragging it along your wet folds, while her right hand started its journey in groping your breast. Tara just made it harder for you.
You let out whimper after whimpers until Tara aligned the strap and started to slowly enter you. That just made you slump your body into the kitchen island and grabbed the edges until your palm hurt. "At last, Tara's gonna fuck me" You thought, but Tara left the entire length of the strap outside and the head was only inside of you.
"Beg, or I would leave you hanging like this and trust me you wouldn't like to sleep all wet and bothered aren't you." Tara whispered to your ear and started small slow circles with your clit and that made you moan.
"Tara..." You said, and Tara started to move her hips, inserting and taking out the head, "Come on, baby.." Tara said, soothing you back. A second pass and you feel Tara pulled the strap out and that made you panic, trapping Tara's hand with your thigh.
"Please" you almost screamed, you looked back at Tara with her eye brows raised, waiting for more words to come out of your mouth, "I need you, so bad... right now." and bit your bottom lip and Tara said "I know you can do more baby" and grasp your ass with her right hand and continuing the circles on your clit that was now going faster.
"Tara please, I can't take it anymore... I need you please baby" you said with and that was the last straw for Tara, "See, that's not hard isn't it" and slowly inserted the strap inside you that made the both of you moaned.
Tara started a slow rhythm, trying to build you up, you felt a sting on your ass and you realised that Tara just spanked you, and you should feel angry, but that just made you so wet that you even moaned.
"Look at you taking me so well, not so shy anymore huh?" Tara taunted you and you just moaned with how the head of the strap be hitting every right place that your own fingers can't.
The slapping of your skin echoed throughout the whole flat and it made you even hornier. Tara slowed down, and said "Be a good girl and fuck yourself" Tara snaked her left hand in front your body and lifted you up holding you up through your neck.
You started to bounce yourself from Tara's strap which Tara really enjoyed seeing you flex your back so much. "Harder, please" you silently whispered where Tara obliged.
Her left hand started to tighten around your throat and her right hand started to move fast around your clit "I know your close, come on baby." Tara encouraged you more.
"Fuck baby... Tara-" You said while you pinch your nipple to apply more pleasure "I'm close baby... please" You pleaded, that came out so smooth in your tongue.
"Fuck... Come Y/N, don't hold back, cum baby" With Tara still thrusting her hips into you, you moaned Tara's name loud enough to let your neighbors know that your girlfriend be fucking you really good. After a few second past, you feel Tara pushed the strap into you and she came with a moan, whispering your name again and again while she slump down your back.
---
"Shit, this apartment is amazing you guys" Sam told the both of you while she explore the cupboards in your kitchen and seeing the different appliances that you also bought.
You were leaning into the kitchen island bent as like your position last night, as you happily look at Sam appreciate your home.
"Yeah, we tried to really follow a color code so that we can have a theme for our home" Tara said entering the kitchen and placed herself behind you until Sam situated her eyes in the both of you.
Sam looked at the both of you disgustingly "Really, you two planned on fucking in the kitchen?" noticing that the kitchen island was so perfect for the both of you.
You and Tara burst out laughing, "What do you mean we plan, we already did" Tara said while sticking her tongue out to tease her sister.
"What the fuck" Sam quickly went out of the kitchen and into the living room, she was so grossed out on how freaky the both of you. Tara saw Sam was about to seat and said "Oh, I won't seat on that spot if you know what I mean."
Sam hurriedly gathered her things "You know what, I won't be coming to your house not until I see you both sanitize your own shit." Sam then went out the door and made Tara laugh.
"Stop teasing your sister babe" you exclaimed and Tara replied "I can't help it, it is true though" and just pulled you in for a kiss.

Only an Almost (IV)
Chapter 4: First Time
Hello!! Here is a new chapter! This is one includes sexual themes, even if no explicit descriptions, so no minors here, please!
I hope you’ll like this chapter! Please, tell me what you think!
*************************************
Pairing: Hozier x fem!reader, friends with benefits AU
Warning: No explicit smut or nsfw content, but there are sexual themes and heavy make-out sessions (it’s a friends with benefits AU, I can’t really escape it), so 18+ only!
Summary: Andrew has been in love with you for years, and yet he has never confessed his feelings. But a night out celebrating the engagement of his best friend changes everything. However, you don't seem ready to be with him just yet. You make him an offer that he can't refuse... but will certainly regret.
Word Count : 2435

Andrew and you didn’t see each other for a few days. You were both busy with work, and an impending fear seemed to hang above the two of you. You were both happy to pretend that you didn’t have time to see each other, it was easier to tiptoe around the line of friendship rather than to cross it for good.
But then Saturday arrived, and with it Andrew’s promise to help you move furniture around your house. You were buying a new bookshelf, and needed to move a couple of things to accommodate the larger shelves.
It was raining, for a change. When Andrew knocked on your door, his hair was curlier than ever, and on its way to get properly drenched. Luckily, you hurried to let him inside the warmth of your house.
“Alright, muscles! Let’s get you dry and warm, and then you can show all that manly strength of yours!” you joked, making Andrew laugh before you had even closed the door behind him.
“Yes, ma’am. I am but your humble servant today.”
It was your turn to laugh. You walked to your kitchen to start a kettle, while Andrew was ridding himself of his wet shoes and coat.
“So, how many muscles will be pulled today?” he asked, walking into your living room to assess the work to be done for the afternoon.
You appeared soon after, carrying two cups of tea; you handed him the one containing two teabags.
“We need to move the sofa, the coffee table, and all the furniture set against this wall,” you explained. “Once that is done, we need to pick up my bookshelf at the shop, and bring it home. We can set up everything now, it shouldn’t take too long.”
“Last time we’ve tried to build a piece of furniture together was at Jon’s, and it took us three hours… I expect to be free at nightfall,” Andrew pointed out, but you shook your head.
“No, don’t worry about that. I can assemble the bookshelf on my own.”
Andrew raised a surprised eyebrow.
“You don’t want any help?”
“I can do it.”
“I know you can… I’m asking if you want help.”
“I don’t want to bother you…”
But he merely let out a laugh.
“When did you decide to stop being insufferable?” he joked, making you roll your eyes. “Y/N… I’m here to help, so let me help.”
You grew a little shy, and Andrew tried to ignore the way it made his heart inflate, warmth spreading in his chest at the sight.
“You’re sure?”
“Of course!”
He drank a little bit of tea, before rolling up his sleeves.
“Alright, tell me where we’re putting all these.”
Tumblr media
“Wait, wait, wait, wait!”
“Pivot! Pivot!”
“I can’t believe you’ve made that joke… Andy!”
“Put it down. Y/N, just put it down, we’ll pick it up again.”
You heaved a relieved sigh as you put down the large cardboard box in your hallway. You took a couple of deep breaths, trying to slow down your heart.
You caught Andrew rubbing his back as you turned to him.
“Okay, next time I need help with something like this, I’ll ask someone my height. Are you okay, Andy?”
“I’m fine.”
“You’re sure?”
“Of course. You should close your door, and then we’ll lift this up again and get it safely to your living room.”
You managed to get the box in the right room on your second attempt, even if your arms and hands were sore by now.
Building the bookshelf was quicker than expected, thanks to Andrew’s help. He heaved a content sigh once you were finally done.
“Not too bad!” you nodded, an excited smile on your lips.
He leaned back on his hands, admiring your work. You were both sitting on the ground, in the mess of cardboard and spared screws that came with building furniture.
“So… that means…”
“I can buy so many more books…”
He let out a bright laugh, shaking his head at you with a fondness that made you look away.
“Why am I not surprised?”
“Hey! How many books did you buy last time we went to the bookstore together?” you asked back, making him roll his eyes.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’ll have you know my purchases were perfectly legitimate.”
“The first two, maybe. Not the six that came next…”
Andrew laughed again, he couldn’t help it. And it made you break your act, the most beautiful sound in the world…
“Alright, alright. I might have a bit of an addiction.”
“Want some tea before you go?”
“You don’t want help organizing your brand-new shelves?”
“I reckon I’ve bothered you enough for one day.”
“God, stop saying that,” he mumbled, a tinge of annoyance in his voice. “You’re never bothering me, Y/N.”
You gave him a smile, the kind that made his heart melt, that illuminated his entire world…
… Christ, he was such a desperate case.
“Even when I steal all your chips?”
It made him laugh again, of course, even if it was silly. Perhaps because it was silly. You were adorable like this, sitting on the ground with pieces of cardboard all around, your hair a mess and wearing your most comfortable clothes. Domestic. That’s how the scene looked. It could have been a moment held in a shared home…
He wanted to make a snarky remark, but his heart was too soft, too warm, a little too painful as well.
“Even when you steal my chips.”
Your smile grew more mischievous, and Andrew’s gaze lingered on your lips.
“Now that you’ve admitted that, you’ll never get the chance to eat chips ever again.”
You both chuckled at that, and Andrew leaned closer to you without noticing, sitting straighter again. He didn’t pay attention to the way you leaned closer as well.
“Alright, that is too much. I like you enough to concede… 1% of my chips. Not one more.”
“One?! And you say you like me?” you huffed. “I deserve at least 25% of your chips.”
“You’re never getting one-fourth of my chips. Have I never mentioned that chips are my passion in life? You’ll get 5%.”
“20%.”
“I won’t go above 7%.”
“Come on, 10%...”
You leaned even closer, so close your shoulder was brushing his arm. So close, he could feel the warmth of your breath on his chin as he bent down a little.
He struggled to swallow. The thought crossed his mind that you were barely a breath away, that all he had to do to kiss you was to slightly tilt his head and lean down some more…
When did the temperature of the room rise so much?
When did the playful atmosphere turn into this longing?
“Alright, 10%.”
“Deal.”
You offered him your hand, and he looked down at your open palm. He shook your hand, his so much larger than yours. When he looked up, you were blinking, lips slightly parted. He didn’t have the strength to pull away, decided to let you break your hold on him. But you didn’t. Instead, your gaze dropped to his lips, and you tightened you tightened your hold on his hand. Andrew’s heart skipped several beats, he glanced at your mouth as well. When your gazes met once more, you let go of him, and Andrew blushed furiously, ready to pull away, to pretend that nothing had happened.
But then your fingers were lifted to his cheek, your thumb softly stroking his beard. He blinked at you, holding his breath.
When you leaned up, he could barely believe it.
“Andy?” you whispered, your lips almost touching his.
“Yes?” he struggled to swallow, voice low and deepened by want.
“Are you still okay with… what we discussed the other day? About… our arrangement?”
Andrew tried to speak, but he merely nodded instead.
“Can I kiss you, then?”
But instead of answering, Andrew merely closed the gap between your mouths.
It was as wonderful as he remembered, just as overwhelming, as perfect… a feeling he never wanted to end. A sensation he knew he would never stop seeking if he lost you…
The kiss, this time, quickly got heated though. Andrew’s lips had soon found the sweet spot over your pulse, and he busied himself gently biting on the skin of your neck, before kissing it to sooth the tickling flesh. You were breathless in his arms, hands lost in his hair, gently pulling now and then.
When you started to unbutton his shirt, shivers ran through his entire frame.
“Can we take this to the bedroom?” he asked, voice raw and deeper than you had ever heard, deep enough to make your soul tremble, lust audible in his tone.
His pupils were as dilated as yours when you looked at each other.
You quickly nodded, staggering to your feet.
You offered him a hand, one he knew he couldn’t refuse.
“Just sex, though. We still agree on this?” you asked.
Andrew’s chest tightened, and yet as he looked up at you, your lips reddened with kisses, a mark left by his mouth over the curve of your neck, a lustful look in your eyes… he could never have said no. He would have accepted anything to have you, no matter the consequences for him.
“Yes. Yes, we agree.”
You helped him up, keeping your hand in his as you guided him to your bed.
Tumblr media
You were still holding his hand.
There was no sound in the room but your two breaths, heaving across silence, scattering over empty space and furniture and the perspiration across your brow.
Andrew couldn’t look at you yet. His mind was just coming down from its height, from reaching for the heavens and gently landing back into your bed, across the soft cotton sheets that smelled of lilac and you. His thoughts were still a little foggy, a little distant even, hanging above him just out of reach. The dizziness that came with utter pleasure and release was dissipating, leaving some room for the return of realisation and consciousness.
He had sex with you. Andrew had just had sex with you. You had slept with him. And God, what love-making that was…
Your hand tightened slightly around his, and he finally gathered his courage to turn his head on the pillow, blinking and then looking at you.
You were dishevelled, struggling for breath still, your eyes closed. Your bare chest was heaving; he couldn’t help but let his gaze trace your shape, the lines of your skin, the perfect curves of your body, for now still uncovered by the sheets. You looked messy and perfectly content. Glowing in some way only pleasure could bring.
He wished for this to be the only sight he would ever see from now on.
“Wow… that was amazing, Andy…”
His lips curved into a cocky grin.
“So… not as disappointing as expected?”
You chuckled at that, finally turning your head to look at him.
“Barely.”
You exchanged a tender smile, while he raised his hand to brush a strand of hair behind your ear. His hand lingered to cup your cheek, touch gentle, loving even.
“It was amazing for me too, by the way,” he whispered, moving closer, his tone as quiet as a confession.
You leaned closer to kiss him, and you tasted like heaven, something sweet and impossibly you, a taste he would never forget and always crave for…
“Hold me… please,” you asked in a whisper, and he didn’t hesitate as he wrapped his arms around you, holding you against him. You rested your ear right against his heart, listening to the steady beat of the organ.
You nuzzled into his chest, one of your hands still holding his, the other resting across his stomach where you drew mindless patterns that lulled him into a peaceful state, one he had not reached in years. He bent his head to kiss your hair.
This could work, he thought. None of what had just happened felt like a mere fling, like some meaningless sex. There had been a connection the second your lips met. It wasn’t fucking, it was making love. And now, you were craving for his embrace as much as he was longing for yours. This could work. For now, your life was complicated and stressful. It was okay, Andrew would wait for you to be available again, for you to be ready to give him a proper chance. It would be alright, all he had to do was to be patient. You couldn’t properly date him at the moment, but nothing that had occurred in this bedroom was mere physical attraction. It was more than just sex. You pretending that it was nothing more than a friends with benefits situation… it was temporary. Andrew was not fooled. You were still holding his hand. It would be fine, it was more than just sex… so much more…
He pressed his lips to your hairline.
“God, you’re so beautiful, Y/N,” he whispered, and he felt your smile against his skin.
His hold on your waist tightened slightly, before he would move his hand across your back, long fingers splayed across the base of your spine. Feeling your bare skin against his was driving him absolutely insane…
“Let’s take ten minutes like this, and then I’ll clean the mess we’ve made in the living room.”
“An hour.”
You chuckled, pinching playfully his side.
“Quit having such a terrible influence on me, would you? I’ll give us fifteen…”
“Why the rush?” he argued, his eyes closing while his lips were still resting against your skin and he breathed in the blooming scent of your shampoo. “This is nice… let’s enjoy the moment, okay?”
You didn’t say anything, remained quiet, went back to tracing patterns against his skin.
It lasted a few blissful minutes, before you were sitting up.
You let go of his hand.
“I’m gonna go clean up everything in the living room, and reorder my bookshelves. Do you want some tea?”
You weren’t looking at him, as if you were avoiding his stare. Andrew wondered why.
“No, thanks. I’m fine.”
“You’re sure?”
“Yeah, I’m fine. Thanks, though.”
You hurried back into your clothes, and Andrew grew self-conscious, now that he was the only one still naked. He reached for his underwear as well, then his undershirt.
“You’re alright, baby?”
You finally turned to him.
“Let’s make a new rule. No pet names. Okay?”
He blinked up at you from the bed, taken aback, too much so to stop you from leaving the room.

I want sugar daddy submas but a date with emmet. I feel like after a fancy lunch. They went to buy luxury furniture. And emmet asks the reader to decorate their house or room in ways that she wants it to be. And when the reader is choosing what sofa goes best in the living room (or her room) Emmett is just imaging all the kinds of things he can do with you on that sofa (and whether that sofa is good for sexy time.) when looking at all the mirror he just thinks about how he can f you in front of the mirror and see all the angle
Anon, I am so unbelievably sorry that this took so long to answer, but it has been eating at my brain for the entire time it's been sitting in my inbox and I really wanted to get it right. I hope what I finally came up was worth the wait!
Luxuries
Summery: Emmet takes you furniture shopping for the twin's summer house. Certain unspoken presumptions and misunderstandings in your relationship with the twins come to light. A little angst with a happy ending 💕
Pairings: Sugar Daddy!Emmet x Reader (GN), Implied Sugar Daddy!Ingo x Reader
Warnings: 18+ content (Minors Begone!), Sugar Daddy-esque relationship (and the consequences and implications of such), smut, dirty fantasies, personal and financial insecurities.
After a wonderful morning of trying on clothes and being spoiled to death by Ingo, Emmet meets both of you at a small diner. You’ve never even heard of this place but the atmosphere here is incredibly cozy.
The whole interior is a beautiful, solid hardwood, and each covered table is set up against a curtained window that lets in the light. The booths, far from the cheap vinyl you're used to in diners, are instead actual loveseats made with real leather. The tile floor below you is a lovely dark green, which makes the isle in between tables look like an emerald sea.
“I didn’t think you’d like a place like this. It’s very vintage.” And fancy. You think. This is like no diner you've ever been to.
“That’s because it’s been in business for nearly a century.” Ingo says as he takes the seat across from you, “We’ve been coming here since we first started at Gear Station.”
He sets a small bag under the table. It contains a wonderfully soft cardigan you'd found on a sale rack on your way out of the tailor's. Its price tag could have fed you for two weeks, but Ingo insisted on buying it for you anyway.
It's absurd to feel weird over a cardigan, you tell yourself, especially when it was the cheapest thing bought for you today. You put on a brave face at the tailor’s, mostly because there was someone else already there, but you’re really not used to having so much money to use on whatever you want.
Maybe that was it. The rest of the beautiful, beautiful clothes could be excused as a business expense, like a uniform for a job. But the cardigan, that was for you only. There was no getting around that.
Emmet's voice startles you out of your thoughts, and all of a sudden you're back in the diner.
“Yup yup! This building used to be the dining carriage on the luxury cross-regional line.” Emmet explains, sliding in next to you. His whole expression is aglow with happiness. You’ve come to understand that different smiles mean different things with him. This one shines with warmth. “They have done a lot of work to preserve and recreate as much as they can. These are even the same kind of chairs and tables they used back then!”
“I never even knew this was here…” You take a moment to marvel at the intricate wallpaper and polished wooden walls and try very hard not to think about how much has already been spent today.
“It’s a real gem, don’t you think?” Ingo’s eyes are sparkling. He looks so happy just to share this with you. “Everything here is wonderful as well. Please take a look at the menu and order whatever you’d like. It’s on us.”
~~~
If the twin’s choice of lunch surprised you, Emmet’s choice of where to take you on a date shocks you even more.
“Is this… a furniture store?”
“Mhmm!” Emmet watches your expression carefully. “I know it is unusual. But I want your help picking out some pieces for my and Ingo’s summer house. We have to host a bunch of parties this year. You’ll be spending a lot of time there with us and we want you to be comfortable.”
To his credit, Emmet doesn’t mention a thing about wanting to buy furniture for your place. He’s never been inside (truthfully, he doesn’t even know where you live), but judging from what Elesa’s told him about your lifestyle, it could probably use something nicer. And he would love to give it to you.
“But shouldn’t Ingo be here for that too?”
“Hmmmm, no. We have verrry similar tastes. And we both trust your sense of style, so he agreed to let us go together.”
“Oh. Okay then.” You still look unsure, but Emmet doesn’t seem to notice. He takes you by the hand and your heart flutters inside your chest.
“Full steam ahead!”
~~~
Calling the store massive is an understatement. Even in a city like Nimbasa, you've never seen anything like this.
It's like a labyrinth in here. Every way you turn is a new room full of a setup of furniture. Some of them are kitchens with huge sinks and granite countertops. Others are elaborate dining rooms with tables set for fifty. The ones Emmet most wants to explore are the living rooms.
Maybe this can be a good opportunity to get to know him after all. While browsing a whole wall full of chairs, you ask about his decorating style and preferences.
"Ingo and I like a modern look. It fits with our professional image, so it’s good for places we have to host in." His expression seems reserved, despite his smile.
You think back to how much they loved the old, vintage dining car, and wonder if sticking to a modern 'professional image' can be joined with what they actually like in practice.
Your eyes scan over the chairs, and you find a dark brown, almost black leather piece toward the center. It's traditional, in that the upholstery is very classic, but the lines are crisp and sharp, modern. You don't think it would look out of place in either scenario. You point it out.
"What about that one?"
Emmet brings a hand to his chin, considering, silent. You're worried you may have made a mistake until he quite suddenly turns around and marches across the room. He stops in front of a matched pair of very modern, round side tables, one black and one white, accented with marble tops and gold trim.
"A pair of those chairs with these tables could fill a nook by one of the windows." He says. "Verrry nice. An excellent combination!"
"That would be so cozy! It would be a nice place to sit and talk for a while." You say, excited that he's on board. "A rug under them all would help mark the space as its own little area.”
"Yes!" He puts a hand on your shoulder. “Let's mark these down and remember to look at rugs later. For now, couches."
~~~
There are almost as many couches in this place as there are chairs.
At one point, Emmet grabs your hand and pulls you down onto a loveseat with him to test it out. It's very comfy. Comfier still with you cuddled up under his arm.
Across from you both is a mirror on a large wall. It’s beautiful, with golden leaves and flowers surrounding the frame. In it, Emmet can see you curled into his side. He sees your reflection turn and gaze up at him. The look in your eyes is like he hung the stars. He wants you to always look at him like that.
How easy would it be, to turn his head and kiss you? His lips would fit against yours perfectly. He’s thought about it so many times already. In the dead of night. In the quiet morning. In the dull monotony of the work day. He wonders how you would react. Would you swoon against him, melt into him like he was made for you? His hand has already found its way to your waist. One quick tug, and you'd fall right into his lap - where you belong.
You'd sigh as his lips ghost their way down your neck. He'd trail kisses across your shoulders like rain. You’d gasp at the rough texture of his sideburns against your sweet, soft skin. He’d nip, maybe even bite. Ingo had gotten you those clothes in black… he’d have to mark you in other ways. In places only he could see.
Emmet thinks of his hand slipping across your neck to give a gentle squeeze. You’d shudder in his arms and your eyes would slip closed. His hand would slide down across your chest. Lower. Lower. He feels you breathe against him. The fluttering of your heartbeat. Lower. To the waist of your pants. He’d stop, rubbing his thumb against the line where clothing meets skin, until your hand wraps around his and shows him exactly what you want.
He’d look up from where he sucks dark bruises onto your shoulder. Silver eyes blown dark with lust would meet yours through the reflection. You’d watch yourself become the very image of desperation as he worked you. You would see how he took you apart piece by piece and built you back together with only his touch. The jerking of your hips against his hand. The friction driving you to a squirming mess against him. You’d be laid out before him in the mirror like a feast.
"Emmet..." Your voice is like honey to his ears. A voice on the breeze that whispers, begs for more. He’d give you anything. Everything. "Emmet..."
"Emmet, are you there?"
He snaps out of his trance. Just like that, the dream is gone. He's back in the furniture store with you sitting next to him.
"I am Emmet. I was lost on a train of thought. What were you saying?"
“This chair is nice, but I don’t know about the color. I wanted to know what you think.”
“I think we should get this mirror.”
“The mirror?” You look baffled, and turn to make a face at your reflection. It doesn’t really seem like his style, “Why?”
“I like the view I’m seeing in it.”
~~~
Emmet circles a huge sectional. It’s been presented with a luxurious, dark grey fabric. His hands sweep across the back and he notes that even the top is cushioned. There’s so much room, he could fuck you in a different position on it every day for a month and still have opportunities for more. The prospect has merit…
He shakes himself out of it. Any more daydreaming, and you’ll start to get worried about him. Besides, as much as he wants it to be, your relationship isn’t like that with them. Not yet.
“What about this couch?” He asks as you take a seat. You bounce as you plop down, and his fingers tighten indistinguishably on the upholstery.
Its humiliating for you to think about how this couch wouldn't even fit in your apartment. It’s lovely, really. And very nice to sit on. It's even softer than your bed! But it’s far too big for your little studio, (if you could even call a space so small a studio. You’re pretty sure Elesa's closet is bigger than your apartment).
“It’s really comfy! Will it work in your summer house?”
“It might be a little small…” He thinks aloud, coming around the side to drop next to you. Emmet leans back, putting his feet up onto the ottoman in front. “We could add a few more sections to it. It would look nice in the conversation pit. Or…”
He turns to you with a look on his face that’s clearly trying to be nonchalant.
“We could always get it for your place.”
You nearly choke. “My place?” You look away, trying to control your expression. There’s no way that would work. It couldn’t even fit it through the door. You try to keep your voice measured, throw in a small laugh, “I don’t know about that…”
“If you do not like it, there are lots of other things here. We could always find something else.”
Emmet says it like buying something like this for you is nothing. And for him, maybe it is. It occurs to you that you don’t really know much about their lives at all, or how well off they actually are. Maybe they really did go through life not even thinking about what it cost them.
Meanwhile, your funds have been so low that you haven’t even thought about replacing the ratty old futon you’ve had since college. There are a million other things that you’re more concerned about than your comfort - like fixing your car, or paying off your school debts, or how until recently, you struggled to afford just surviving from one month to another.
“Um.. maybe. Why don’t we take a look in the next room.”
Anything to get away from this couch.
~~~
Emmet’s warm smile has fallen. His lips are pursed and there’s a furrow in his brow, like how he looks when trying to come up with battle strategies. You pick at your cuticles. Silence stretches out in between you two like an impassible river. Emmet has always been quieter than his brother, but it’s never been like this before.
“You said you have a conversation pit in your summer home?” You ask, trying to kickstart the conversation again. He’d also said you’d be spending time there, so… “When will I get to visit?”
And you pray the answer is still soon.
Some tension seems to leave him as he answers, “We usually host two parties for the season. Ingo and I would love you to be there for both,”
“I’d like that!” You answer, a little too quickly. But he seems to take it well. He almost looks relieved, and that comforts you as well.
Once you’ve broken the ice, conversation flows easily between you two once more. In fact, you’re both doing really well together! Your chatter is lighthearted, sometimes even boldly teasing, and though you have to hustle to keep up with his long legs and purposeful stride, you find he keeps looking toward you, like he wants to make sure you’re still with him. It’s endearing.
Until he tries to buy you another couch. Another wave of shame crests over you – it’s so powerful that you can’t think of what to do or how to save this moment without losing it. And it was going so well, too!
“Emmet, please stop. I’m sorry, but I don’t think you should buy this.”
“What, why?” He seems baffled, like he can’t figure out what you mean, “Is the color wrong? You shouldn’t worry. We can get it redone to fit your tastes.”
“I- no. That’s not- I just wouldn’t be comfortable with it.”
“But… it’s very comfortable?” Emmet looks confused, “The cushions are plenty soft. You just said so.”
“No, no. I mean, I don’t feel comfortable with you buying something like this for me!”
"But that’s why we're here. You deserve to be comfortable."
He pauses for a moment, as if struck by something.
"Are you not comfortable? With Ingo and I buying you things?"
You pause. Today has been a lot, with Ingo taking you to such a fancy, expensive tailor and Emmet wanting to buy you all of this new furniture. It’s so much money. More than you’ve ever had to spend on your own. But truthfully, it’s nice too. To be able to look at something and not have to worry about what it cost. To just decide you can have it, no matter what it was.
And it was nice, SO nice, to have people who wanted to give it to you.
"It's been really nice. But…" You sit down on the nearest couch, eyes facing downward as you try to put together the words to express how you’re feeling without choking.
But at what cost? You’re not naive. You know that this relationship is transactional. Every debt will have to be paid eventually. Once it’s all wrung up, what will the price on your shoulders be?
You’re scared that soon the spell will be broken. The debt collector will come knocking and demand something you can’t give. What will you do then, stuck with a price you can’t bear to pay and no way to back out? It’s terrifying. Would Ingo and Emmet do that to you? You’ve known them long enough to think that they probably wouldn’t, but how can you really be sure? How can you be sure of anything?
Emmet carefully sits across from you, patiently waiting for your next words.
“I don’t know why you’re both… It’s all so much, and I don’t know what you’re expecting from me in exchange for all of this.” Your expression is worried, almost scared.
Emmet feels his veins turn to ice. He suddenly feels like how he did as a child, making a rookie mistake in a battle and finding out how quickly and badly things could backfire on him. This was the last impression he or Ingo ever wanted to give.
"We are not buying you things because we want something from you. We wanted to do this for you because we like seeing you happy. You should have nice things." Your eyes are watery. He pulls a handkerchief from his pocket and offers it to you. “We only want you to be happy. Is that hard to believe?”
Emmet knows now that the game is almost up. The three of you are going to have to sit down and talk about your relationship – it’s all too quickly growing out of the convenient agreement it started as and into something more. They want to give you more, but Emmet realizes that they shouldn’t have assumed you’d just accept without talking it through first. You were so much more than what you could give to them. Yet somewhere along the way he and Ingo had both failed to consider how you might make assumptions about their intentions.
And then there’s the matter of their attraction to you. Emmet likes you. Wants you. They both do. But they can’t stand the idea of you thinking they’re buying you. Love that is an obligation is not what they want. It is so much more than that for them.
“I am Emmet. And I am sorry. I should have known it was too much to offer.” He says as you wipe your eyes. “I am serious though. Neither Ingo or I would ever expect anything like that.”
“I-” You take a deep breath, “Thank you. I’m sorry too. I should have told you how I was feeling sooner.”
Emmet reaches out and takes your hand in his. This time, you don’t pull away.
“Do you think we could start our date over?” He asks. You look at him and know that if you said no right now, he would take you home and everything would still be okay. “What if we just did something fun together instead? The amusement park is still open.”
You laugh through the last of your tears. “I’d like that. Can we ride the ferris wheel?”
He rubs a thumb over your knuckles.
“That sounds perfect.”
What we should never do at the dining table?
To ensure a nice and respectful dining experience, avoid the following:
Talking with a Full Mouth: It is more polite to chew with your mouth closed and swallow before speaking. This makes interactions more enjoyable and less distracting.
Using Your Phone: Try not to check your phone or text during meals. It's preferable to concentrate on your company and enjoy the dinner without interruptions.
Reaching Across the Table: Instead of extending over the table, request that goods be passed. This prevents knocking stuff over and demonstrates proper table manners.
Interrupting Others: Let everyone finish their thoughts before leaping in. When everyone has an opportunity to speak, the conversation flows more naturally.
Eating Too Quickly: Take your time and enjoy your meal. Eating too quickly might cause discomfort and is less enjoyable.
Elbows on the Table: It is polite to keep your elbows off the table when eating. This makes the dining experience more enjoyable for all.
Overloading Your Plate: Serve yourself a modest amount and return for more if you're still hungry. This helps to prevent spills and keeps the table clean.
Royaloak online furniture store offers a dining experience that is both attractive and useful. They provide a diverse selection of attractive and efficient dining furniture to complement your meals and gatherings.
Prompt 31 - Age
@jegulus-microfic July 31, Word count 994
This is the final part of the Apple Core series
Previous part First part
James had been worried that Regulus would struggle to furnish his new flat and had offered to buy him what he needed, no strings attached. But Regulus had been smart. After he’d watched what happened to his brother, left penniless and with nothing but the clothes on his back, he made a contingency plan. Every pound he made went into a separate bank account to which only he had access and now had a healthy little nest egg, albeit a slightly smaller one after their shopping spree.
James had sweet-talked the assistant in the furniture shop into giving Regulus a nice discount on the pieces he’d picked out. Everything was loaded up onto the truck as Regulus paid and was being unloaded by the time they’d walked the short distance back to the flat.
“Did you buy the whole shop or something?” Sirius snorted as he waited on the street.
“Something like that,” Regulus grinned.
Sirius insisted on helping take the heavy items upstairs. So James suggested that Regulus wait on the street and keep an eye on his things.
It took an age to get everything upstairs. Sirius left them to unpack while he went to help Remus with the café.
“Wow, this sofa’s comfortable,” James said as he bounced up and down on it a few times, settling in.
“Hey, you can sit later, come and help me put the bed together,” Regulus ordered. James didn’t argue. He hopped up and followed Regulus into the bedroom. It was a bit of a squeeze putting it all together but eventually, there was a bed.
“Now for the best bit,” James waggled his eyebrows suggestively at Regulus. Regulus jumped up and put his hands over the wriggling brows. “I meant unrolling the mattress. Gees Regulus get your head out of the gutter.” That earned him a few huffs and light smacks to his chest. He hauled the heavy box in and upturned it, letting the compressed mattress slowly slide out. “Want to do the honours?” He asked, holding up the little bag opener that came with the mattress. Regulus took it, and with his tongue poking out between his lips as he concentrated, he drew a long straight line down the plastic and watched as the squashy mattress expanded out of its casing. They both flopped onto it side by side.
“I think I picked the right mattress. Regulus groaned as the memory foam cradled his body.
“I could get used to this,” James sighed, reaching his arms further up the bed until they brushed against the wooden headboard.
“Oi, you two, if you’re shagging, stop and get down here, it’s barbecue time!” Sirius shouted up the stairs to them. With big sighs, James and Regulus reluctantly left the bed and trudged down the stairs.
Sirius and Remus lived around the corner in a sweet little ground-floor flat that came with a garden. It was a lot bigger and a lot nicer than the one Regulus now lived in, but they’d put a lot of effort into making it that way.
James walked straight through and started getting the barbecue set up. Sirius and Remus were useless when it came to getting the thing going and James quite enjoyed watching the fire light. Regulus came up behind him and watched as he piled the coals just right and added the firelighters. He stuck the long lighter in and clicked the button until the flame lit and held it near the firelighters. It didn’t take much and then heat blasted out of the base.
“Want the tour?” He asked, waving at the flat.
“Yeah, okay,” Regulus gave a half smile, but followed James back into the flat. He started in the living room.
“They’ve got a very soft sofa as well,” James grinned, bouncing on it the same way he had on Regulus’s earlier.
“If you break it, Potter, you’re paying for another one. Remember last time?” Remus poked his head out of the kitchen and raised his brow. James flushed as he remembered their old sofa that had broken in half when he’d had one too many and tried to wrestle it.
“Er, yeah, sorry, Moony,”
“You broke a sofa?!” Regulus whispered unbelievably to him when Remus was out of sight.
“Yeah, but it was old and buggered before I tried to put it in a headlock.” He tried to explain. Regulus shook his head in disbelief.
“Right show me the rest of this flat then,”
James showed him the bathroom, and they poked their heads into the bedroom. Regulus didn’t linger once he saw what was on the bedside table. They finally went to look in the kitchen. It was tiny but Sirius and Remus had made good use of the small space. Every scrap of counter, however, was full of dishes for their meal.
“Right start taking this stuff out,” Sirius ordered as he finished mixing some sort of salad dressing.
James and Remus cooked while Sirius handed out beers, and they sat down in the warm sun to eat. James was stuffed but still had room for a few toasted marshmallows. He looked over at Regulus and Sirius scrolling through TicTok together, laughing at the videos. He felt incredibly happy and lucky and all over a dropped apple core. They might just be starting out, but he could already see the mending relationship between the two brothers, so even if they didn’t work out, he’d always be glad Regulus had that, he’d make sure of it.
“WHAT THE ACTUAL!!!” Sirius yelled at the phone in his hands. He began furiously scrolling through videos, getting redder and redder. James peeked over his shoulder and paled. Sirius had stumbled onto Wormtail’s account. James grabbed Regulus’s hand and whispered in his ear.
“Scarper?!” The other man nodded. James blew a kiss to Remus and then raced out of the place, Sirius’s ranting following them down the street as they headed back to Regulus's flat.
billy hargrove x gn!reader
word count: 2,764
warnings: swearing, innuendos/billy being a flirty asshole aka being himself, mentions of neil, fluffy/lovey shit
a/n: hii :)) happy holidays! i hope that you’re enjoying whatever you celebrate, and if you don’t celebrate anything, i hope you are enjoying life in general. i’d been tossing this idea around and around in my head for forever, and i finally wrote it! i really hope you enjoy it. billy and readers first christmas while living together? yes, yes i think so. i love you all! <333
————
“You know, there’s a whole ass couch that you could be spread out on in any way you please, Hargrove. I’m not entirely sure why you must splay yourself out on me.”
Billy shook the bag of Skittles in his hand around, presumably looking for the red ones. Those were his favorites, and he insisted they were better than all the rest, though you were adamant that a random handful of them was just as good—no need to be picky.
Billy crossed his legs at the ankles in response to your statement.
The both of you were sat on the sofa in your living room. It had started out with you curled up on one side, but the moment you stretched your legs out to settle on the coffee table, Billy had appeared. It was like he had a Spidey-sense.
And now he was on the other end, legs stretched out over top of your own. This is after he’d lifted the blanket from you to tuck his legs in with yours. Only he had shorts on, so now the warm skin of his calves was stuck to that of your thighs.
Billy was continually sinking further into the couch, and now snatching a pillow out from under your ass to put behind his back.
You rolled your eyes at his continued use of your space. He was surely making himself comfortable.
“You’re like a fucking house cat, you know that?”
Billy let out a breath of a laugh, eyes now on the television.
Maybe it wasn’t very “adult” of you to watch Full House during your free time, but Uncle Jessie had good hair (you seemingly had a type), and Stephanie had an excellent sense of humor.
It was more of a surprise that Billy put up with it at all, since he wasn’t keen on Growing Pains, and liked to stubbornly pretend he didn’t enjoy The Golden Girls. But he laughed at both Dorothy and Uncle Joey, no matter how many times he’d try to deny it.
He also requested you fill him in any time he missed an episode because he was home late from work.
You snuck your hand under the blanket to rub up and down Billy’s leg, fingers tracing from below his knee and across his thigh. He hummed his appreciation.
Eyes wandering from the tv, this being an episode you’d already seen, you realized how empty your living room looked.
Now maybe that was partially because the both of you did not have an abundance of furniture—a couch, a table, a stray oversized chair—but also because it was those slow few days before December began and you didn’t have a tree up.
This was the first Christmas that Billy and you would be spending in your shared little apartment, and you were rather excited about it.
Christmas hadn’t always been peaceful at home, for either of you, people being picky or whiny or just assholes in general.
But living with Billy made you feel whole. You felt safe with him, and he you.
It was just that this time, Christmas was up to you. You could do whatever you wanted and cook your favorites, or maybe not even at all. You could decorate however you pleased.
You turned to Billy, watched as he lifted his arm, pulling the chain on the floor lamp next to him, muscles shifting under the yellow light.
“When do you want to get a Christmas tree?”
He set his Skittles down, pulled his legs out from under your blanket. He propped his head up against the back of the couch with his arm, looking dreamily at you.
“You mean like buy one? I don’t imagine picking out a boxed tree is gonna be that hard.”
You sat up. “Ha! Oh no, baby, we are not getting a fake tree.”
You watched his brow furrow. “I’m pretty sure we dragged the same shit tree, box and all, from California to Indiana. Neil Hargrove was not keen on the idea of having to take care of a me, let alone a tree.”
You grimaced, and he continued. “You want to pick out a real one?” He tracked the movement of your head, your excited nod. “I’ve never done that before.”
You sat up on your knees. “It’s fun! We did it every year. Sometimes we’d pick one that was too tall and we could barely get the star on. I guess I thought we’d get to pick one out too. But if you’d rather an artificial one, that’s fine Billy.”
His hands found your face, callouses rubbing at your cheeks.
“No, sugar, a real one is fine. I assume you know where the hell we go?”
————
It took some driving around, but eventually you wound up at Merrill’s, wandering through the lanes of pines with all the other families and too loud children.
Billy walked behind you, hands stuffed in the pockets of your coat. Not only did you have little hand warmer packets, but Billy had yet to get a good pair of gloves.
He had finally relented and started wearing layers when it snowed, though that did not mean he’d done it without pouting.
So now, as the both of you sidestepped a stray toddler barreling through the thin layer of powder on the grass, the only bit of him that wasn’t actually warm were his hands.
You walked him to the shorter section of trees, thinking about how small your home actually was.
“What do you think about this one?”
You reached through the branches to grab hold of the the trunk, pulling it out and spinning it around to check all the sides.
“Stand next to it,” you told him.
“Sorry?” he questioned, obviously confused.
“You’re my size reference. Don’t,” you raised a hand, stopping him because he’d already opened his mouth, “make a dick joke. You can touch the ceilings when you raise your hands, so this is my measuring, okay?”
“Yes ma’am.”
Billy gave you a two finger salute and moved next to the tree, it being just about the same height as he was. “Good?” He raised his eyebrows in question.
“Yep.” You heaved the tree back into its place, glancing at the aisle number before meandering through to look at a couple more.
Most of them were too tall, and because of that, too expensive. Even some of the shorter ones would’ve cost a pretty penny because of how nice they were: perfect shape, a dark, rich green, branches thick with needles.
“I think I liked that first one best, baby.” Billy’s breath was warm against your neck where he’d leaned over your shoulder to speak, what with a family of six standing right next to you, chatting exuberantly.
“I was thinking the same thing, Mr. Hargrove.”
You grabbed hold of his belt loops, tugging him along with you in search of your first tree.
Luckily, it was still there, and you made sure to put your hands on it, because there was a frightening looking woman eyeing it from across the way.
You hugged the tree, which brought out that sweet sweet laugh of Billy’s. “Let’s get this one then, huh?”
You nodded before pulling away, realizing you now had tree sap in your hair, not to mention an abundance of needles that you’d probably still be brushing out later.
Billy retrieved a cart to set the tree on, and you watched him lift with ease, wishing that was you he’d thrown over his shoulder.
“You’re staring.”
You pushed the cart towards the tree-trimmer, ignoring his statement.
Billy’s hands snuck up to the back of your neck, and then he was tickling you, cold fingertips dancing across your skin.
“Ignoring me now?” His voice was gravelly from the chill in the air, throat gone dry.
“Never. But I think the staring is allowed when we live together. You’re much too pretty for me.”
“I am gorgeous, aren’t I?”
You rolled your eyes at him, knowing you’d set yourself up for that one, and he planted a chilly kiss to your temple.
————
The drive home was short, but slightly terrifying. The Camaro was not built for having a tree tied to the top of it, and you were fidgety the whole trip.
Billy glanced your way before he pulled into the driveway. “You doubt my rope-tying skills, Y/N? Frankly, I’m offended.”
You opened your door before he could, which only spurred him on.
Billy pulled a pocket knife out from the glove compartment, flicking the blade open and cutting the ropes on your side of the car.
“I think we both know I excel at tying things up.”
“Billy,” you groaned his name, holding onto the tree so it wouldn’t slip while he cut the other side.
You could hear him laughing to himself, clearly enjoying his ability to fluster you.
The both of you slid the tree off the roof of Billy’s car, and he tossed you the keys.
You ran up the few stairs, unlocking the door and propping it open before going back to help him bring it inside.
While you were halfway through the door and feeling brave, you spoke. “You better behave yourself or we’re gonna find out how good my rope-tying skills are, Hargrove.”
You set the tree down, flying back out the door to get the stand out of the car before he could say anything.
Upon your return, Billy grabbed you by the waist, pinning you against the freshly closed front door.
“That’s not really threatening when you know I’d let you do whatever you wanted.”
You could feel yourself burning, and you tried to bury your face in his chest, but he caught your chin, quickly pressing his lips to yours.
When he pulled away his lips were that devastating shade of pink, and he was looking at you like you were everything in the world and more.
“Don’t go all shy on me now,” he propped his arm against the wall above your head, “now that we live together and whatnot.”
You grinned at him, and he kissed you silly for it.
————
It took a few days, but the tree had been successfully watered and kept alive, though it was still bare of any ornaments.
The lights had been easy to choose at Melvald’s, and Joyce had helped you pick out some she liked to put outside too.
So, gradually, both Billy and you had been bringing home a menagerie of bulbs and things for the tree, determined to make it your own and not have some shop-window-looking thing in your home.
One afternoon Billy gets off work early, but comes home to find you out and about, having left a note on the counter for him.
When you do come home, he’s in pajama bottoms and an old shirt, staring into the fridge like something’s going to hop out and prepare itself for him.
His face lights up when you emerge into the kitchen, arms immediately reaching for you, but you stop him with a raised hand. He practically frowns.
“I got you a prize, Billy baby.”
He propped his head up, hand under chin. “A prize?”
You nodded, wrestling with the bag on your hip, finally pulling something free.
“Hold out your hands.”
You plopped a small ornament into his hands. Specially a square one that looked like a vinyl sleeve, the tip of the record itself sticking out the side.
The sleeve was black and red, tiny writing across the top that said Metallica. It looked like the Kill ‘Em All album.
Billy looked up at you, eyes glossy. “Where’d you find this?”
“At the record store. They had a big tree with assorted ornaments for popular bands on it, I thought you’d like it. Do you?”
You watched as Billy flipped the ornament over in his hands, ran his thumb over the edge of the little black record, the top of the sleeve.
“‘Course I fuckin’ like it, baby.” He was giving you that prize-winning and swoon-worthy smile. The one you tried to tell yourself didn’t work on you. But that would just be a lie.
He scooped you up in his arms, squeezing you tight, lifting you just enough that your feet left the floor.
“The guy at the counter gave me a discount since we come in so often. Got myself one too.”
Billy set you down, walking to the living room to find a spot on the tree for his prize.
“I don’t get to see that one too?”
“Well yeah, sure. I was just excited about yours.” He watched you reach down in your bag for the other ornament you were supposedly housing. Sometimes with the way you searched for things in there, Billy thought you might as well be Mary Poppins.
You pulled out a simple gold ball that had the Queen logo on it in a black glossy film.
“That’s cute. Can I put it on?”
You nodded your assurance, watched dreamily as he put in on the tree.
Part of you couldn’t help but picture a smaller, much younger version of Billy doing the very same thing. Maybe with his mother.
“What’re you thinkin’ about, hon?” Billy’s voice broke you out of your stupor.
“You. What Christmas might’ve been like for you when you were younger. I was gonna ask if you even like it at all or if you’re just doing this for me.”
Billy continued to decorate the tree, opening a pack of Scooby-Doo ornaments that he’d found the other day—all five of them and a small Mystery Machine.
“Hold out your hands.”
You did, and Billy placed the ornaments along your palms so he could slip hooks in them.
“I do like Christmas,” he started, put Velma on the tree. “It was just always an ordeal, you know? First with my mom and Neil and then Susan. What we were gonna eat, if we had the money for presents at all, if I deserved anything.”
Shaggy and Scooby went up. Then Fred.
“It was just miserable, I guess. Everything was always such a big fuckin’ deal. But I don’t know, I guess I liked the atmosphere, or some shit? I guess the world feels a little more calm this time of year, though I know it’s not.”
Daphne. The Mystery Machine.
“And when we were in California and had to go see the little bit of extended family that we had, it was always ‘Billy you better behave,’ or ‘Don’t be an disrespectful,’ or anything that made sure I wasn’t going to fuck things up.”
“So I don’t think I ever had a chance to enjoy it. Not until you.”
He was silent for a minute plugging the lights in on the tree. “I better not turn around to see you giving me those watery eyes.”
He spun around, locking eyes with you. “No dice, huh?”
You shook your head. “Can I have a hug?”
Billy didn’t respond, but scooped you up his arms anyways. “You can have a hug whenever you want, baby.” He pressed a warm kiss to your forehead.
Billy’s hugs were all-consuming, the kind where there isn’t anything else in the world except for him. He tucks his cheek against your temple, wraps one arm around your shoulders and the other your back, hands rubbing all over, running down places they shouldn’t.
“So you liked your ornament, really?” Your voice was muffled where you face nuzzled his neck, metal chain warm on your nose.
“Yes. I love it.” His hands found your face, pulling you up from the safety of his chest.
“I love you, you know. And I meant what I said about enjoying this with you. Because I am.”
You pushed your hands under his shirt, the fabric coming with it because of how your arms were raised, trying to leech the heat from him.
“Kiss?” Billy was using that sultry tone, the one that made his words all slow. The one he used to butter you up.
“You can have a kiss whenever you want, baby.” He rolled his eyes at your mimicking of his earlier words.
You planted your lips firmly against his, enough that he sighed into it, breath warm on your face. You kissed him once, twice, three times before you pulled away, looking up at him, his lashes kissing at the corners, frown lines forming because you’d let up.
“I love you too, you know,” you told him, and his mouth was back on yours within the second.
