Meet me at the BN studio at 5pm. Don’t be late.
Woojin had replied to the message you sent earlier in the day, asking why you would want to meet at the dance studio. Today was his birthday and he wanted to do anything but practice the latest dance for his impending comeback. He had hoped you wanted to meet up and go see a movie or just order in some Chinese takeaway and cuddle on the sofa.
It confused him of all the places to meet at as well. Whilst it made perfect sense for him to be there, you weren’t a performer. You had no need to go to the studio unless it was to find him, and his schedules had him out of the office all day.
For a moment he considered you had planned some kind of surprise party with his fellow members, but the location was different. He hadn’t noticed that at first, assuming you meant the studio he was usually at right now promoting with Wanna One. When you still hadn’t replied to him after lunch, he had reread the message, growing perplexed that you were at his home studio.
Sure, Youngmin and Donghyun were there, and you were close with them as well. But Daehwi had no idea about any secret party being held there. The MXM boys wouldn’t have been able to exclude Daehwi if they tried; Donghyun was too generous in information to leave him out of any plans. And even though Daehwi had a mean poker face, Woojin knew him too well and could tell when he was withholding information.
So if he had no idea and Donghyun had nothing to say, then a surprise party was off the cards. It left Woojin feeling uneasy. You weren’t alluding to anything either, reading every message he sent, but not replying.
He hadn’t expected to feel anxious on his birthday.
Arriving at the studios with time to spare, Woojin greeted the staff members he normally worked with, grateful for all the birthday wishes and support for his upcoming comeback he received. He slowly made his way to the studio he used when he was training within his own company and frowned when the lights were out. Checking his phone for the time, he still had five minutes. Where were you?
It only dawned on him then that you could be playing a prank on him.
Stepping inside the studio, he tried to find something that would prove him wrong. But you were nowhere to be seen. “Y/N?”
The lights suddenly turned on and he watched with the help of the mirrors as you approached him from behind. His eyes widened at your outfit choice, you had an oversized shirt and a pair of shorts on, the front of the top tucked in at the front on one side. And then you rounded him, nodding once to someone behind him. He couldn’t focus on anyone else; his eyes were glued to you.
The familiar tune to Light started up and you took a deep breath before you started dancing along to the song. He had bugged you for months to let him teach you how to dance but you had refused, saying you had two left feet from being clumsy.
It was a lie because you were pulling off most of the dance moves with ease, the professionalism in your movements being obvious. You had asked someone to help you learn this.
And whilst he was a little bitter, he was mostly amazed.
Because you had taken the time to learn a dance he had poured hours into learning himself. A dance that he had been doing for months now as he travelled the world. A dance that on you looked entirely different, entrancing him with every movement of your hips or your feminine touches to the steps.
It was the most captivating performance Woojin had ever witnessed.
He was disappointed when the song ended and your sensual gaze dropped from his. Without Light playing, you returned to his playful, blushing girlfriend and you clasped your hands together nervously.
“What did you think?” you asked breathlessly and Woojin merely shook his head with a smile tugging at his lips, unable to think of anything to say. You smiled at him and moved closer, hugging him gently. “Happy birthday, Woojin.”
“Where did you learn this?” he finally questioned and then flinched a little when another person hugged him. He used the mirrors to find his grinning hyung wrapped around you both.
“Where else would she turn?” Youngmin announced with a laugh and Woojin grinned at his friend. You all separated, though Woojin’s hands didn’t stray far from your sides.
“I know you wanted to teach me how to dance but I wanted to surprise you. I also wanted to learn just how hard it was to remember a dance like you would do every time. Youngmin’s a really good teacher, though it was the most exhausting task I’ve ever taken on before. I hope you like my present.”
“I’d like it even more if you did it again,” Woojin admitted slyly, and you playfully pushed him before giving a nod at Youngmin once more.
“I guess since it’s your birthday, I could give you another performance.”
