TODAY IN GINNY! - June 3 - Harry Fischbeck
Tumblr media
Good morning!  I've been having to do multiple posts simultaneously this week because of all of my son's graduation festivities. Because of my basic laziness, I tend to skip the evening post as a result. I can only sit at the computer for so long.
I worked on one film with Virginia Weidler. It was TIMOTHY'S QUEST (1936)
I also worked with TIG!ers John Howard, John Barrymore, Gary Cooper, and Lew Ayres. I was a long time employee of Paramount Pictures, where they all worked in the 1930s.
Thanks for the memory. I worked on THE BIG BROADCAST OF 1938 but not on either BB featuring VW.
I, too, worked on a "girl raised by the circus" film. Mine was the silent SALLY OF THE SAWDUST, loosely based on the novel POPPY. W.C. Fields played the same role in SALLY as he did in the later sound version of POPPY.
I also worked with directors D.W. Griffith, Edward Dmytryk, Robert Florey, and Charles Barton. Griffith directed SALLY and the others worked with me at Paramount. Barton directed my Ginnyfilm.
Who am I?

German born cinematographer Harry Fischbeck, born June 3, 1879 and seen here with fellow TIG!er Olympe Bradna.
