Was at work the other day and came to the startling realization that Alfonse really is a god killer, and I actively had to reboot at the thought because??? Omg yeah he is! The overall story of feh and plot/ certain pacings within the books make some deaths feel inconsequential or are so nonchalant about it that they can more or less be brushed off without a second glance and that leads to some of the funniest ‘oh shit WAIT-‘ moments when you really decide to buckle in and deep dive particular aspects!
Neways all of that is to say is that at first glance you would never suspect someone like Alfonse to have such an extensive and powerful list of felled enemies. I mean are you kidding me? Death, Time, and so many others are just? Gone now. Idk I’ve just been rotating this thought in my head and it is so so wild and fun to me, I feel like they should capitalize on what the progression of the plot is doing to Alfonse! Comparatively from book one to now, you can see shifts in Alfonse as a person, he’s much more to the point and ready to do what needs to be done (not to say that he wasn’t like that in earlier books, it just seems much more frequent and explicitly stated), he’s quick to steer situations in his favor regardless of the means (within reason), and is even willing to brag about killing his own father right in front of his little sister if that means gaining an inch of an advantage.
Alfonse is so interesting to me because it is always stated that he is gentle and kind, serious and eager to maintain peace, but then you see some of his methods/antics and the colorful kill list he’s been building over the years. He is repressed chaos incarnate and I fear for any of his enemies when that seal begins to crack.
