If you go back and read some of the interviews from the time, you can tell he never really wanted to talk at length about Bucktaylor and seemingly put them down every chance he could (the interview right before 5B when he alluded to relationship problems for them was very telling imo).

Plus, he posted a couple of insta stories right before a couple of really heavy-Bucktaylor episodes aired that were very cryptic and showed pretty clear displeasure over what was happening (see below):
