I don't think I've ever talked about it but Jazz WOULD have a minor role in-game. As a shopkeeper. I actually decided on his job (which is weird on its own) before I realized it would fit nicely with the game lol.
He runs a tiny little combination garden center and architectural salvage shop called Petal To The Metal. This started as me going "hmm... what are things I enjoy doing..." and I couldn't decide between those two so I just combined them. But then I realized it works as a game mechanic also. Break enough stage items (crates, bricks, etc) and you can trade in "scrap" for temporary health upgrades (extra heartbeets Jazz grew in his shop).
