A Helicopter Application Introduced in Mumbai

A helicopter application for the wealthy population has been launched in India`s financial capital, Mumbai. Blade is an app that offers users to book a helicopter trip. It was first introduced in the USA, where rich users could travel between New York City and Hamptons for $795 or benefit from shorter flights in and around Manhattan and other American cities like Miami and Los Angeles. As CNN Business reports in an article, the application will also operate in Mumbai with hubs in Mumbai`s trendy neighborhoods Juhu and Mahalaxmi. The idea is to provide a ride between the heliports and to Pune that is the closest big city. But there will be a flight to Shirdi too. Shirdi is a popular religious site that is located relatively near. Blade`s CEO Rob Wiesenthal told CNN Business: “The growth that you're experiencing here in India is stratospheric.”, reportedly adding that the country`s strong economy is the reason behind launching the service in Mumbai. He explained that the transportation infrastructure hasn`t managed to keep up with the growth and there are heavy congestions cities in the country. The company hasn`t decided what prices it would offer in India yet, but it`s clear they will target the richest people in the country. The application`s cheapest service in the USA is a five-minute flight from Manhattan to JFK that costs between $195 and $295. “What Blade is providing is a high-end service that will provide a template, hopefully, and a roadmap as urban air mobility becomes less expensive and becomes more of a mass-market product.”, as the CEO commented as quoted by CNN`s article. Other companies are also trying to establish themselves on the market. One of them is JetSetGo that offers bookings of private jets and helicopters online.
