Hi!!! I don't know if you've answered this question before, but I was wondering what Snapdragon's official pronouns are/were intended to be?

Snapdragon is a trans girl so eventually her pronouns will be she/her. Ofc where we were in the story in season one they were he/him.

I normally don’t answer “spoiler”y questions but this one is important to me 💖 Her story is very much a trans story.

Is there any world where, either by buying them back or after a certain amount of time passes where CR does nothing with them, you get the rights to HGS back?

I probably won't be able to get the rights back, but there definitely is a universe where another company buys them from Crunchyroll, or CR decides to give HGS another chance, as a comic or a show.

I'm serious when I say I haven't given up on High Guardian Spice! It may take a while, but whenever I get the chance to revisit that world and those characters, I will do it 🔥

Hiya!

I saw your answer about High Guardian Spice being originally being planned as a comic made me hunt down the few pages and the animatics/storyboards which float around internet for comfort (because yes, despite all the flaws High Guardian Spice is one of my major comfort shows)!

Anyway! I was wondering if you can - want or even legally being able to - talk about how the comic was planned to be? From what I saw, it seems very different from the show and more slice of life vibes + adventures of the day.

Ignore if you can't or don't want to talk about it, but if you can and want then thanks in advance!

The comic was going to start at the same place, with Rosemary and Sage leaving Pebble to go to Lyngarth, but, they hadn't actually gotten in to High Guardian Academy yet. The first book was going to be about them going through entrance exams for the school, building their friendships with Parsley & Thyme and making rivals with Amaryllis & Snapdragon.

It was going to be a slower build and focus more on the girls being novice adventurers, with them leveling up by going on small quests in and around Lyngarth. Over time they would start adventuring farther out into the world and eventually going to different countries, like Witch Country & The Fairy Woods. It's super inspired by jrpgs in that way.

When HGS got picked up as a show, we decided to cut the entrance exams part out because we knew we only had 12 episodes to get the story going, and we couldn't count on having a second season. I still think that was a valid decision, but we didn't have enough time to properly chart out & script those 12 episodes, so they didn't play out quite the way I would've liked… 😅

Hallo! This is a common misconception about High Guardian Spice! And it's confusing because it's based on truth xD

Before HGS got picked up as a show, I WAS making it as a comic with Crunchyroll. My writer and I had scripts for the first 3 chapters, and I was about halfway through penciling the first chapter when Marge Dean (head of CR's animation studio) joined the company. When she was hired we showed her our HGS pitch and she was like "Wow this is great, this should be a show!" and I was like "Iiii agree!"

So then we repitched HGS to a big team of Crunchyroll people, and it got greenlit as a show! And we stopped production on the comic.

So, we never finished any part of the comic and it was never released. Unfortunately I can't post our WIPs because CR owns them T w T That's just the way the biz works.
