OIL painting FINISHED and for sale. A lot of people look at this painting and they see Beauty and the Beast.... no. This beauty is supposed to represent inspiration, if inspiration was a physical item that could be stolen, which I am a firm believer that it can be. The demon is DOUBT. She understands that the demon is there that is why she has a look on her face without fear. A complete recognization of the demon with caution but also disdain. She's using the key to unlock the inspiration her chest as most artist's inspiration comes from the heart... but all of us artists have the demon Doubt inside of us. The relationship between these two from an artist perspective is uncanny because I'm not sure have big yard out demon is but mine is huge, because the goals I constantly set myself are so much bigger than I need. That is something that cripples artists, it's what makes people think that artists are born with a gift, and it's what causes people to give up halfway through a painting and never finish. If you look closely at his neck you will see that he has stolen so many keys from so many people. A decent amount of doubt is healthy, however, which is why she doesn't show fear and almost has a look of defiance. An artist must keep his doubt demons in check and continue to press on and find inspiration within it. I could have easily just painted a demon and a check and made it look cool but I think that really relating to the story makes it a lot more believable and fun. It made me feel like I was actually bringing something to life.
