A Global Reach

The cover story of this edition of Tower Times magazine chronicles NATE Wireless Industry Network Pacific Region Ambassador Jesse Petrilla’s experiences representing the Association at this summer’s World Telecommunication Development Conference in Kigali, Rwanda. Jesse’s trip to Africa as a representative of NATE is a powerful reminder of the global reach and impact of our industry.

Consider this: many of the Association’s vertical real-estate member companies continue to expand their tower portfolios internationally at a rapid pace and NATE’s membership is comprised of companies from 10 foreign countries!

As Jesse’s article addresses, more work needs to be done to bring affordable connectivity solutions to unserved corners of the world, but it is a good bet that NATE members of all industry sectors are positioned to help bridge the global digital divide. 2022 NATE Summer Conference

It was great to see many of you at the 2022 NATE Summer Conference in Austin, Texas last month. Austin was a great host city for the conference, that has become an annual platform for the Association’s Board of Directors, Stranding Committees and Ad-Hoc Committees to engage in both short- and long-term strategic planning sessions. A major theme of this year’s meetings was creative planning surrounding  some of the opportunities and challenges related to NATE’s growth as an organization. I also want to give a special “shout out” to the member companies who stepped up to sponsor the 2022 NATE Summer Conference. Thank you!

Vertical Freedom - Available to Rent or Purchase on November 1, 2022

Vertical Freedom, the feature length movie produced by NATE and Storybuilt Media, continues to gain momentum as we head into the fall season! NATE has sold the rights to the movie to Gravitas Ventures, a worldwide film distributor. On November 1, 2022, Vertical Freedom will be available to rent or purchase on prominent Video on Demand (VOD) platforms like iTunes, YouTube TV Movies, Google Play, Apple TV, VUDU etc. After the movie’s VOD release, Gravitas Ventures will then begin actively shopping the film to some of the prominent streaming platforms.

In the run-up to November 1, NATE is also hosting private showing events of Vertical Freedom in select markets around the country. These events have been successful in attracting NATE member companies, community college/technical school representatives, and elected officials.

These are exciting developments as the movie provides an excellent opportunity to shine a spotlight on NATE and the career opportunities available in our industry to mainstream audiences. NATE will continue to aggressively promote Vertical Freedom and we encourage all of you to watch the movie with your family, friends, and colleagues and help us promote it to audiences outside of the industry.

Mack and Tracy share a Moment.

Tracy tells Mack that Nate has cheated but he ends up in trouble again with Meena.

Mack was collecting the rest of the sprouts from the allotment.

"Hi Tracy" said Mack. "What brings you up here?"

Tracy went up to Mack and gave him a big hug. "Happy New Year" she said with tears in her eyes.

"What brings this on?" said Mackenzie.

"Nate has cheated on me" said Tracy

" Oh no Tracy. Who with."

"With Vanessa's girlfriend. I'm devastated Mack. He's done nothing but lie to me. What a great start to the New Year. We were going to get married.

Mack hugged Tracy. "Oh Tracy I'm so sorry"

"I just love the bones of you and can't bear to see you so upset" he said "You're like a little sister to me and I love you girl. And you know I adore Frankie. Can I hold her?"

"Of course Mackenzie you're a natural with babies and kids"

Mack held little Frankie who gurgled away in his arms. "I love her so much and I can't wait to hold my baby" said Mack putting the baby back in her buggy as she had fallen asleep.

"Here's me blubbering and you look down Mack. Is everything alright?

"I'm worried to death about Meena and our baby" said Mack. "She has changed so much and it's breaking my heart. I love her and all I want is to be loved back. She's gone all cold towards me. Why does love hurt so much Trace"

"Oh Mack. I'm sorry" said Tracy. "It just does sometimes"

"Come here Mac" said Tracy "Don't take this the wrong way but can I kiss you? I mean a proper kiss"

Mack nodded and the two of them embraced.

"I love you Mackenzie" said Tracy with tears in her eyes. "You know that kiss was coz I think the world of you don't you Mack and to thank you for being there for me nothing else"

"Yes I know. And I think the world of you too. My best friend forever" he said.

"You dont know how much that kiss meant to me as well. I feel so alone and I just needed to feel loved for a minute."

"I know same here" said Tracy. "Its times like these that I miss my dad but thank God I've got you and Vanessa"

"You know I'll always be here for you Trace. What will you do now Tracy. You know if you need anything you can come to me"

"Thank you Mack. Vanessa has decided to stay so I'll be OK" Tracy replied.

"Happy New Year Tracy. Hope 2022 is good to us"

Mack sat down after Tracy left. She is one of the best friends I've ever had he thought to himself looking at a picture of Tracy and Frankie on his phone.

"Oy. What was Tracy doing here?"

"Oh Charity. She was telling me about Nate" said Mack.

"Yes and with Vanessa's girlfriend as well" said Charity.

"What a flipping start to the New Year" said Charity. "Fancy getting drunk?"

"Why not. Its only one day in and I'm sick of this year already" said Mack.

"I've only got Vodka Mack."

"Well I've got some whisky here." Mack replied.

"A secret stash eh?" teased Charity.

"It's for emergencies only" said Mack.

"Heard this is a bed settee" laughed Charity.

"You can forget about that" said Mack "Serious drinking only"

Mack and Charity staggered home.

"Where the hell have you been" a voice screamed.

"It's Godzilla" sniggered Charity "Good luck with that" she said as she sloped off.

"Hello darling" said a sheepish Mack.

"I'll make you pay for this" yelled Meena.

"Anything for you my angel" said Mack swaying from side to side

"You promised you'd walk princess and look at you"

Mack handed the bag of sprouts he was carrying to Meena just as the bag broke"

"And you can pick everyone of those up" yelled Meena to Mack who was on his knees trying to stop the sprouts from rolling away"

"Happy New Year you two" shouted Faith "That's what I like to see a man grovelling" she laughed.
