hi hi!! back again with more music!
First off is Ringfinger by Nine Inch Nails! This song's had Dark in a fuckin chokehold the past few days ajahdhdjsdjdjsjd the lyrics REALLY like,, put the love and devotion (and. obsession.) she feels for people into perspective, he feels! Growing up we never really cared much for this song but something about it just clicked one night and now it's one of our most played songs this past week DHDJSJSIDJZ
Next up is a softer NIN track, Lights In The Sky! I wasn't around for this but I have memories of this song helping us with a really bad break-up,, despite the lyrics hinting towards this song being about drugs apparently JFHDJSFJ. The way this one is played is super pretty, definitely gives off space vibes, and it's one of our go-to songs for helping put us to sleep!
Nine Inch Nails contains multitudes™ when it comes to music tbh they can do it all but I think you'd really enjoy their more quieter songs! We just. also really wanted to show you Ringfinger because it's a favourite right now LMAO
That's all from us for now!! Hope you have a good day, life, all of that! <2 -Actor
hi hi!!! YAY hello actor, music time! :D <222
RINGFINGER!! THAT'S YALL!!! HGKJH i listened to this one when yall changed your url, but i'm happy to listen to it again!! :D this is the one that yall like the demo of too, i think?
i love the alternating synth bits between the two audio tracks hkjhg it has a very cool, mysterious feel to it :3 nods nods the love/devotion/obsession, i understand!! the lyrics have a loyalty that bleeds into self-sacrifice :0 <22 the part that yall use for your blog layout!! "I get everything I want / When I get part of you" :'] <33 oooh the turntable scratching ending bit before the guitar-ish glitch out is so funky and fun hkjgh
the demo has much more screeching hkjh its interesting how the drumbeat and vocals are just a touch more subdued than the other version :0 OOH i love getting to see first draft vs finale type things, it's cool hearing what bits were kept and what was changed, alternate lyrics!! :] OH HELL YEAH, thats the lyric yall used for your profile pic piece!! :3 both of these versions are very cool, im glad they clicked for yall!! :DD <33
Lights In The Sky! piano time!! ooh, for real, this is a good sleepy time song, the singer sang so intensely and gruff for most of Ringfinger and he sings so hushed and peacefully here, the duality of man hkgjh <33 "The lights in the sky are waving goodbye / And I am staying right beside you" awah :'] very fond of this, it's lovely that it's helped yall in the past <33 <22
thank you for these!! :D!! hehee i also hope yall have a nice day/life/everything forever and always hkjhg yall deserve the world <222

What Is Remodeling Used For?
You ever look around your house and think, This could be better? Maybe your kitchen feels cramped, or your bathroom is still rocking those pastel pink tiles from the ’70s. That’s where remodeling comes in. It’s not just about making things look nice—it’s about improving function, comfort, and value. Whether you’re sprucing up your home for yourself, preparing to sell, or making a rental property more appealing, remodeling is the way to go.
But let’s break it down—what exactly is remodeling used for, and why are so many homeowners in Lake County, IL investing in it?
Making a House Feel Like Your Home
Buying a home is a big deal. But just because you own it doesn’t mean it feels like you yet. A remodel can help with that.
Personalizing the space – Maybe you want an open floor plan, a spa-like bathroom, or built-in shelving that actually fits your book collection.
Fixing quirks that drive you nuts – That awkwardly placed wall? That dimly lit kitchen? Remodeling lets you tailor your home to fit your lifestyle.
Updating outdated designs – Some houses have… let’s call it character. But there’s a fine line between charming and just plain old.
Boosting Property Value Before Selling
Thinking about selling? A strategic remodel can give your home a serious edge in the market. Buyers in Lake County are looking for homes that feel modern, efficient, and move-in ready.
Kitchens and bathrooms sell homes – These are the first places buyers look. Upgrading appliances, countertops, and fixtures can make a huge difference.
Curb appeal matters – A fresh coat of paint, a new front door, or updated landscaping can boost first impressions (and your home’s value).
Energy-efficient upgrades – Features like new windows, insulation, or smart home technology can make your home stand out.
Creating a More Functional Living Space
Ever feel like your home just doesn’t work the way it should? Remodeling helps fix that.
Opening up floor plans – Say goodbye to cramped rooms and hello to more light and space.
Adding storage solutions – Custom closets, built-in cabinets, and creative shelving can work wonders.
Converting unused spaces – That dingy basement? It could be a cozy family room. That attic? Maybe it’s your new home office.
Preparing for Life’s Changes
Life isn’t static. Your home shouldn’t be either.
Aging-in-place renovations – Wider doorways, walk-in tubs, and zero-step entries make homes safer for seniors.
Accommodating growing families – More kids (or grandkids) often means more space is needed—extra bedrooms, bigger kitchens, and smarter layouts.
Adapting to remote work – Home offices aren’t a luxury anymore; they’re a necessity. Remodeling can help carve out a space that actually helps you focus.
Turning a House Into an Investment
If you’re a real estate investor, house flipper, or landlord, remodeling is about ROI (Return on Investment).
Updating rental properties – Fresh flooring, modern kitchens, and stylish bathrooms attract better tenants (and higher rent).
Flipping houses for profit – Smart renovations can turn an outdated property into a high-value home.
Commercial renovations – Business owners, take note—an updated storefront or office space can bring in more customers and improve workflow.
When Should You Remodel?
Not every home needs a full-blown renovation, but here are some signs it might be time:
Your home feels outdated compared to others in the neighborhood.
You’re planning to sell and need to boost value.
You’re staying long-term and want to make your home more enjoyable.
You have maintenance issues that need fixing anyway.
You want to improve energy efficiency and cut down on utility bills.
Finding the Right Remodeling Team in Lake County
If you’re considering a remodel, finding the right contractor is everything. You need someone who listens, understands your vision, and—most importantly—gets the job done right.
For homeowners in Lake County, Illinois, Waldron Construction is a name that stands out. Whether you’re looking for a simple kitchen refresh or a full-scale home transformation, they bring experience, quality craftsmanship, and a deep understanding of what local homeowners need.
Final Thoughts
So, what is remodeling used for? It’s about making a space better—whether that means more functional, more stylish, or just more you. Whether you’re upgrading for comfort, resale value, or investment potential, the right remodel can completely change how you feel about your home.

Optimizing Your Website for Core Web Vitals: A Guide to Better User Experieance
Tumblr media
in the fast-paced world of online business, ensuring that your website is optimized for core web vitals is crucial to keeping users engaged and satisfied. in this comprehensive guide, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know about improving your site’s performance for better user experience. say goodbye to slow loading times and frustrating interactions, and hello to a smoother and more efficient website that will keep visitors coming back for more. let’s dive in!
Introduction to Core Web Vitals and their impact on user experience
core web vitals are a set of three specific metrics that measure various aspects of user experience on the web. these metrics focus on critical elements such as loading speed, interactivity, and visual stability, all of which contribute to a positive user experience. the three core web vitals are:
Largest Contentful Paint (LCP):
largest contentful paint (lcp) measures the loading performance of a web page by identifying the time it takes for the largest content element to become visible to the user. this element could be an image, a video, or a block-level element such as a heading or paragraph. lcp provides insights into how quickly users can perceive meaningful content on a webpage, directly impacting their perception of its loading speed.
optimizing for lcp involves various strategies such as:
optimizing images and videos: compressing and properly sizing media files to ensure faster loading times.
prioritizing critical resources: identifying and loading essential content first to expedite the rendering process.
utilizing lazy loading: deferring the loading of non-critical resources until they are needed, reducing initial page load times.
by focusing on improving lcp, website owners can enhance user satisfaction and decrease bounce rates, leading to improved performance metrics and better search engine rankings.
First Input Delay (FID):
first input delay (fid) measures the responsiveness of a webpage by evaluating the time between a user’s first interaction (e.g., clicking a button or tapping a link) and the browser’s response to that interaction. fid quantifies the delay users experience when attempting to interact with a page, reflecting its interactivity and responsiveness.
key strategies to optimize fid include:
minimizing javascript execution time: reducing unnecessary javascript execution and optimizing script performance to enhance responsiveness.
splitting long tasks: breaking down complex javascript tasks into smaller, manageable chunks to prevent blocking the main thread.
prefetching resources: preloading resources required for user interactions to minimize delays during actual interactions.
by prioritizing fid optimization, website owners can create a more engaging and interactive browsing experience, fostering increased user engagement and retention.
Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS):
cumulative layout shift (cls) measures the visual stability of a webpage by quantifying the amount of unexpected layout shifts that occur during the page’s loading phase. these shifts can be disruptive to users, causing frustration and leading to unintended clicks or interactions with adjacent elements.
strategies to minimize cls include:
setting size attributes for media: specifying dimensions for images, videos, and other media elements to prevent sudden layout shifts as they load.
avoiding dynamically injected content: ensuring that dynamically loaded content does not significantly alter the page layout once it appears.
reserving space for ads and embeds: pre-allocating space for ads and embedded content to prevent sudden layout changes when they load asynchronously.
by addressing cls issues, website owners can create a more visually stable browsing experience, reducing user frustration and improving overall usability.
How to measure your website’s Core Web Vitals using Google’s tools
Understanding Core Web Vitals:
before diving into measurement techniques, let’s briefly review the three main core web vitals:
largest contentful paint (lcp): this metric measures the loading performance of a webpage by assessing the time it takes for the largest content element to become visible to the user.
first input delay (fid): fid quantifies the responsiveness of a webpage by evaluating the delay between a user’s first interaction and the browser’s response to that interaction.
cumulative layout shift (cls): cls measures the visual stability of a webpage by calculating the amount of unexpected layout shifts that occur during the page’s loading phase.
Measuring Core Web Vitals with Google’s Tools:
google offers several tools that website owners can use to measure and monitor their core web vitals:
google pagespeed insights: pagespeed insights is a free tool provided by google that analyzes the performance of a webpage and provides optimization suggestions. it offers a comprehensive report on core web vitals, including lcp, fid, and cls scores, along with actionable insights to improve performance.
google search console: google search console provides a core web vitals report specifically tailored for your website. it offers an overview of your site’s performance across various metrics, including lcp, fid, and cls, along with specific recommendations for improvement.
chrome devtools: chrome devtools is an advanced tool built into the google chrome browser that allows developers to analyze and debug web pages. it includes performance monitoring features that can be used to measure core web vitals directly within the browser.
Steps to Measure Core Web Vitals Using Google’s Tools:
access the tool: navigate to the respective tool you wish to use, such as pagespeed insights or google search console.
enter your website url: input the url of the webpage you want to analyze.
analyze the report: review the generated report, paying particular attention to the core web vitals section. take note of the scores for lcp, fid, and cls, as well as any identified opportunities for improvement.
implement recommendations: follow the recommendations provided in the report to address any issues affecting your core web vitals scores. this may involve optimizing images, reducing javascript execution time, or minimizing layout shifts.
monitor progress: regularly monitor your core web vitals scores using google’s tools to track improvements over time and ensure ongoing optimization efforts.
Tips for improving Largest Contentful Paint (loading time)
in the fast-paced digital world, where users demand instant access to information, optimizing loading times has become paramount for website owners. among the key performance metrics that directly impact user experience, largest contentful paint (lcp) stands out as a crucial indicator of a webpage’s loading speed. by focusing on improving lcp, website owners can significantly enhance user satisfaction, reduce bounce rates, and improve search engine rankings. in this guide, we’ll explore actionable tips for optimizing your website’s lcp and delivering lightning-fast loading times.
1. Optimize Images and Videos:
large media files are often the primary culprits behind slow loading times. to improve lcp, optimize images and videos by:
compressing images: use tools like photoshop, squoosh, or online image compressors to reduce file sizes without compromising quality.
choosing the right format: select appropriate image formats (e.g., jpeg, png, webp) based on content and use cases to minimize file sizes.
lazy loading: implement lazy loading techniques to defer the loading of off-screen images and videos until they are needed, reducing initial page load times.
2. Prioritize Critical Resources:
load essential content first to ensure a faster perception of page loading. prioritize critical resources such as text, navigation elements, and interactive components to improve lcp. consider:
minimizing render-blocking resources: identify and defer non-essential scripts and stylesheets to prevent them from delaying the rendering of critical content.
asynchronous loading: utilize async and defer attributes for scripts to allow non-render-blocking loading, enabling the browser to parse html and render critical content swiftly.
3. Optimize Server Response Time:
reduce server response times to expedite the delivery of content to users’ browsers. improve server response times by:
leveraging content delivery networks (cdns): distribute content across geographically distributed servers to reduce latency and deliver content more quickly to users worldwide.
caching strategies: implement browser caching, server-side caching, and cdn caching to store frequently accessed resources and serve them quickly without re-fetching from the origin server.
4. Minimize JavaScript Execution:
excessive javascript execution can delay rendering and hinder lcp. mitigate this issue by:
minifying and gzipping javascript files: reduce file sizes by minifying and compressing javascript files to accelerate downloading and parsing.
deferring non-critical javascript: defer the execution of non-critical javascript until after the initial page load or user interaction to prioritize loading essential content first.
5. Monitor and Optimize Third-Party Scripts:
third-party scripts, such as analytics trackers and social media widgets, can impact lcp. manage third-party scripts by:
evaluating performance impact: assess the performance impact of each third-party script on your website using browser developer tools or performance monitoring tools.
opting for asynchronous loading: load third-party scripts asynchronously to prevent them from blocking the main thread and delaying lcp.
Strategies for reducing First Input Delay (interactivity)
in the realm of web performance optimization, ensuring swift and seamless interactivity is paramount for retaining users and driving engagement. first input delay (fid) measures the responsiveness of a webpage by evaluating the delay between a user’s first interaction and the browser’s response to that interaction. a high fid can lead to frustration and diminished user experience. therefore, implementing strategies to reduce fid is crucial for enhancing interactivity and maximizing user engagement. in this guide, we’ll explore effective strategies for minimizing first input delay and optimizing interactivity on your website.
1. Optimize JavaScript Execution:
excessive javascript execution can significantly impact interactivity and contribute to high fid. to mitigate this issue:
minimize and defer javascript: identify and minimize non-essential javascript code, and defer its execution until after the initial page load or user interaction. this prioritizes the loading of critical resources and improves responsiveness.
code splitting: break down large javascript bundles into smaller, more manageable chunks and load them asynchronously to prevent blocking the main thread and reduce fid.
2. Streamline CSS Rendering:
css rendering can also affect interactivity and fid. implement the following strategies to streamline css rendering:
critical css: serve critical css inline within the html to ensure that essential styling is applied promptly, enhancing the perceived loading speed and reducing fid.
reduce css complexity: simplify and optimize css stylesheets to minimize parsing and rendering times, thereby improving interactivity and responsiveness.
3. Optimize Web Fonts:
web fonts play a crucial role in the visual appeal of a website but can also impact interactivity and fid. to optimize web fonts:
preload fonts: preload web fonts in the html header to ensure they are available when needed, reducing delays in font rendering and improving interactivity.
limit font variants and weights: use only the necessary font variants and weights to minimize the number of font files downloaded and improve loading times.
4. Efficiently Load and Execute Third-Party Scripts:
third-party scripts, such as analytics trackers and social media widgets, can introduce delays and affect interactivity. manage third-party scripts effectively by:
asynchronous loading: load third-party scripts asynchronously to prevent them from blocking the main thread and delaying user interactions.
evaluate and remove unnecessary scripts: regularly audit and evaluate the performance impact of third-party scripts on your website, removing any unnecessary or redundant ones to reduce fid.
5. Prioritize Content Loading:
prioritizing the loading of critical content elements can enhance perceived performance and reduce fid. implement the following techniques:
lazy loading: defer the loading of non-critical content, such as images and videos, until they are within the user’s viewport or needed for interaction, optimizing initial page load times and improving interactivity.
progressive loading: load content progressively as it becomes available, allowing users to interact with the page even before all resources are fully loaded, thus reducing perceived latency and fid.
Techniques for minimizing Cumulative Layout Shift (visual stability)
in the world of web development, ensuring visual stability is essential for delivering a seamless and frustration-free browsing experience to users. cumulative layout shift (cls) measures the extent to which elements on a webpage shift unexpectedly during the loading process, disrupting user engagement and potentially leading to accidental clicks or interactions. minimizing cls is crucial for enhancing visual stability and optimizing user experience. in this guide, we’ll explore effective techniques for reducing cumulative layout shift and improving visual stability on your website.
1. Set Dimensions for Media Elements:
one of the primary causes of layout shifts is the loading of images, videos, and other media elements without predefined dimensions. to minimize cls:
specify width and height attributes: set explicit width and height attributes for images and videos in the html markup to reserve space and prevent sudden layout adjustments when media content loads.
use css aspect ratio boxes: employ css techniques, such as padding-bottom for intrinsic aspect ratios or the aspect-ratio property, to maintain consistent aspect ratios and prevent layout shifts as content loads.
2. Avoid Dynamically Injected Content:
dynamic content that is added to the dom after the initial page load can trigger unexpected layout shifts. to mitigate this issue:
reserve space for dynamic content: allocate space for dynamically injected content by predefining its dimensions or using placeholders to ensure that layout adjustments are minimized when the content appears.
optimize rendering order: ensure that dynamic content loads in a predictable order and does not push existing content down or shift it unexpectedly, preserving visual stability.
3. Optimize Font Loading:
font loading can also contribute to layout shifts, particularly when fallback fonts are replaced by web fonts during the loading process. to optimize font loading and reduce cls:
use font display swap: specify the font-display: swap property in css to display text using fallback fonts until web fonts are fully loaded, preventing sudden shifts in text layout.
preload web fonts: preload web fonts in the html header to ensure that they are available when needed, minimizing delays in font rendering and reducing layout shifts caused by font loading.
4. Manage Ads and Embeds:
advertisements and embedded content from third-party providers can introduce layout shifts and disrupt visual stability. to manage ads and embeds effectively:
reserve space for ads: allocate space for ads and embedded content by defining their dimensions or using placeholders to prevent sudden layout adjustments when these elements load asynchronously.
optimize ad loading: opt for asynchronous ad loading techniques to minimize their impact on page layout and ensure that content shifts are minimized during ad rendering.
5. Test and Monitor:
regular testing and monitoring are essential for identifying and addressing potential layout shift issues. utilize browser developer tools and performance monitoring tools to:
simulate network conditions: test your website under different network conditions to assess how layout shifts may vary based on network latency and bandwidth.
monitor cls metrics: keep track of cumulative layout shift metrics using tools like google pagespeed insights or chrome devtools, and address any significant shifts to maintain visual stability.
the role of mobile optimization in core web vitals
in today’s digitally driven world, mobile devices have become the primary means of accessing the internet for a vast majority of users. as such, optimizing websites for mobile performance has become more critical than ever. with the introduction of core web vitals by google, mobile optimization plays a pivotal role in determining a website’s overall user experience and search engine ranking. in this blog post, we’ll delve into the significance of mobile optimization in core web vitals and explore strategies to ensure your website delivers exceptional performance on mobile devices.
Understanding Core Web Vitals:
core web vitals are a set of performance metrics introduced by google to assess the user experience of a website. these metrics include:
largest contentful paint (lcp): measures loading performance by determining the time it takes for the largest content element to become visible to the user.
first input delay (fid): evaluates interactivity by assessing the delay between a user’s first interaction and the browser’s response to that interaction.
cumulative layout shift (cls): measures visual stability by quantifying the amount of unexpected layout shifts that occur during the page’s loading phase.
The Importance of Mobile Optimization:
given the widespread use of mobile devices for web browsing, mobile optimization directly influences core web vitals and, consequently, user experience and search engine rankings. here’s why mobile optimization is crucial:
user experience: mobile users expect fast-loading, responsive websites that provide a seamless browsing experience. optimizing for mobile ensures that users can access and interact with your content effortlessly, leading to higher engagement and satisfaction.
search engine rankings: google considers mobile-friendliness as a key ranking factor. websites that are optimized for mobile performance are more likely to rank higher in mobile search results, improving visibility and driving organic traffic.
user retention: a poorly optimized mobile experience can lead to high bounce rates and lower user retention. by providing a smooth and efficient mobile browsing experience, you can keep users engaged and encourage return visits.
Strategies for Mobile Optimization:
to improve core web vitals and enhance mobile performance, consider implementing the following strategies:
responsive design: utilize responsive design principles to ensure that your website adapts seamlessly to different screen sizes and devices, providing a consistent user experience across platforms.
optimize images and media: compress images and videos to reduce file sizes and improve loading times on mobile devices. use lazy loading to defer the loading of non-essential media elements until they are needed, conserving bandwidth and improving performance.
minimize javascript and css: reduce the use of unnecessary javascript and css to streamline page rendering and minimize processing overhead on mobile devices. optimize code delivery and execution to improve interactivity and responsiveness.
prioritize above-the-fold content: prioritize the loading of above-the-fold content to ensure that users can access essential information quickly. minimize render-blocking resources and prioritize critical content to improve largest contentful paint and cumulative layout shift metrics.
test and iterate: regularly test your website’s performance on various mobile devices and network conditions. use tools like google pagespeed insights and lighthouse to identify areas for improvement and iterate on your mobile optimization efforts.
Conclusion
optimizing your website for core web vitals is not just about meeting search engine requirements; it’s about prioritizing the needs of your users. by focusing on loading speed, interactivity, and visual stability, you can create a website that not only ranks well in search results but also delights and engages visitors.
remember, optimizing for core web vitals is not a one-time task; it’s a journey of continuous improvement. stay informed about best practices, leverage tools and resources provided by google and other reputable sources, and be proactive in addressing any performance issues that may arise.
ultimately, investing in core web vitals optimization is an investment in the success and longevity of your website. by delivering a fast, responsive, and visually stable user experience, you can differentiate your brand, foster customer loyalty, and achieve your business goals in an increasingly competitive digital landscape.

past past past life OR a combo of A hello/good-bye kiss that is given without thinking - where neither person thinks twice about it. + S5 post-time skip
“Alright.” Jughead groans as he stands up from his desk, stretching one arm over his head, then the other. “I’m gonna be late for my shift, but it seems like everything’s under control.”
Betty smiles up at him from her seat at the table, and nods as the handful of students they’d recruited to work on the Blue and Gold echo their assent from the back of the room. “Say hi to Tabitha,” she tells him as he slings his messenger bag over his shoulder.
“Will do.” He clasps a warm hand to her shoulder, bending down to press a quick kiss to the crown of her head as he passes. “Bye.”
Betty freezes.
For his part, Jughead does not seem to recognize that anything out of the ordinary has occurred until he is halfway out the door. He nearly trips over his own feet as he comes to a halt, turning back to look at her with mild panic. “Uh –” He clears his throat. “Bye. Everyone.”
Betty doesn’t dare look towards the cluster of students behind her, but the abrupt silence and stifled laughter confirm that they’ve just seen their English teacher kiss his colleague goodbye with all the familiarity of a husband leaving for work in the morning.
She busies herself tweaking the center spread layout – or pretends to, at least – until fifteen minutes have passed. Long enough for their buzzing teenage brains to move past whatever surprise they’d notched at witnessing an unexpected intimacy between their newspaper advisors, or so she hopes.
She gathers her things quickly, though she’s in no particular rush – she just needs to get out of this room. “Logan, you’ll lock up?” When he nods, she flashes them all a bright smile. “Night, then.”
Home is a welcome distraction, the house on Elm Street a whirlwind now that it’s occupied by three generations of Smiths-Coopers-Blossoms. (Betty does not envy Polly the day when the twins come home from school seeking help on a family tree assignment.) Everyone else has more or less settled in for bed by ten o’clock, though, leaving Betty with another few hours to occupy herself before Jughead gets home from the diner.
She half-watches an old sitcom, sipping at a lukewarm mug of tea, until the faint yellow gleam of the Andrews’ motion-activated porch light bleeds through the curtains.
Jughead is still fumbling with his keys as she climbs the front steps behind him. He startles at the sound of footsteps, but his shoulders relax when he looks back to see it’s just her. “Hey. It’s late.”
He sounds exhausted. She doesn’t know how he’s been keeping up this schedule – late nights at Pop’s, followed by early mornings at school – but he insists it’s manageable.
“I know.” She watches as he unlocks the door and then steps inside quickly to disarm the alarm. Archie must be spending the night at Veronica’s. “I just thought –”
“We don’t have to talk about it, Betty.” He leans against the doorframe, blocking her entrance, and she can’t deny that it hurts just a little. “It won’t happen again.”
She crosses her arms over her chest. “Except we do. Because Logan and Britta and Claire all saw it, and one of them’ll mention it to their parents, and then it’ll come up at a PTA meeting or something and Weatherbee will have questions –”
Jughead sighs, and swings the door all the way open. She can’t help but feel a tiny burst of satisfaction. “Okay, fine.”
He pours them each a glass of water, and then more or less collapses into a chair at the kitchen table. “There’s just not that much to say.” He rubs a knuckle into the corner of his eye. “I obviously wasn’t thinking. I’ve got a lot of…muscle memory of that room, or whatever.”
She takes a sip of water to hide her flush. She has memories of the room too, a lot of them much more physical than a simple kiss on the head. Lately, she’s found herself thinking of them more and more.
When she says nothing, Jughead shrugs. “Well?”
Betty drops her eyes to the glass in her hand. “I guess…I’m wondering if you finally feel ready. Because I think I do.” For what, she doesn’t say. If he doesn’t know already, it means the answer is no.
She hears the hitch in his breath. His voice is soft when he says, “I want to be. I don’t know if that means I am.”
She lifts her gaze to meet his. “I don’t want to hurt you again.”
Jughead laughs, but it’s not bitter like the last time she’d said that, all those months ago. “I don’t know if either of us gets a choice in that.”
It doesn’t sound like an invitation. But then he’s holding her, his arm around her waist, hand sliding up into her hair, and he’s pulling her into his lap. He’s kissing her.
She’s kissing back.

Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, Jira, mention of Shmi Skywalker

Warnings: mention of violence, slavery, grief

Tumblr media
The door closing behind Obi-Wan felt like a rock settling in his stomach. The only thing keeping him from hyperventilating was the fear of waking the cranky 3-year-old resting against his shoulder. Everything had happened so fast that Obi-Wan was still reeling, the tear tracks on his face barely dried from their heartbreaking goodbye. Thankfully Anakin tired himself out before he made himself sick; Obi-Wan wasn’t sure if he could handle more wailing yet.
He stood silently in the empty hovel, scanning the unfamiliar layout, and tried to breathe through the emotions trying to rip him apart from the inside out. Obi-Wan stood there for a long time, mindlessly hushing Anakin if he started to whine, but putting off venturing further as long as he could. Finally, something inside him snapped and Obi-Wan took a hesitant step forward, his burning eyes trailing over the large stone table in the middle of the room.
It took him a long time to finally force himself into the first bedroom but he immediately decided it would be Anakin’s. The boy was still sleeping fitfully against his shoulder and he thanked the Maker their new home was already equipped with the bare necessities. Obi-Wan cautiously pried the sleeping child from around his neck, resting his head against the worn pillow, and draping the thin blanket over his small body. He perched on the edge of the mattress and just stared down at Anakin’s calm, sleeping face, gently brushing his fingers through the boy’s short hair.
A tear dropped onto the blanket between them but Obi-Wan couldn’t take his eyes off Anakin. He had promised Shmi he’d protect Anakin at all costs and he meant it, but he had no idea how he was supposed to do it. How was he supposed to teach and nurture a small child when he was barely an adult himself? A violent sob pitched him forward and Obi-Wan pressed the back of his hand against his lips to hold back the sound. Obi-Wan sat at Anakin’s side, crying softly until Tatooine’s twin suns started to disappear below the horizon, blanketing the baron hovel in darkness.
Tumblr media
2 weeks later
Mos Espa was crowded, as usual, and the writhing horde of bodies threatened to swallow Obi-Wan and Anakin whole. The blinding suns overhead made Obi-Wan squint, reminding him of the fresh bruise discoloring the ridge of his cheek and his gasp hissed through his teeth. Anakin snapped to attention, shifting forward in Obi-Wan’s arms to lightly rest his tiny hand on his jaw.
“It still hurt?” Anakin asked softly, carefully petting Obi-Wan’s face. He turned his head to look at the young boy, forcing a half-smile in hopes of reassuring the boy.
“A little but I’ll be okay,” Obi-Wan sighed, reaching up with his free hand to rub Anakin’s back.
“I sorry,” Anakin whimpered, his fingers still lightly running over Obi-Wan’s face.
“I know, my dear,” Obi-Wan whispered, patting his back as he turned his attention back to the dusty streets around them. Their Toydarian Master, Watto, was easily aggravated and Obi-Wan couldn’t for the life of him understand why he’d agree to take two slaves, one being a child, when he had such little patience. Anakin was a smart boy but he was also energetic and wild, meaning he had a knack for getting into trouble. Obi-Wan’s new shiner was proof of that.
“Hello, boys!” Obi-Wan snapped out of his head, darting his eyes in the direction of the voice, and immediately relaxed. Obi-Wan smiled softly as they approached the fruit stand, Jira’s kind smile lighting up their otherwise dreary day. They had met Jira within the first few days with Watto when Anakin had run off, nearly sending Obi-Wan off the deep end, and stopped at her fruit stand.
“Hi, Jira. How are you feeling?” Obi-Wan asked as he set Anakin on his feet, smiling when the boy hurried to hug the older woman.
“Warm,” she teased, ruffling Anakin’s hair.
“I thought that was a given here,” Obi-Wan chuckled, ducking under the canopy to hide from the scorching heat. Jira shook her head, finally looking up at Obi-Wan and her smile slowly fell away; Obi-Wan ducked his head, knowing what she was looking at.
“Oh, my dear boy, look at your face,” Jira breathed, her brows pinching together and Obi-Wan could feel her turmoil rippling through the Force.
“I’m alright,” Obi-Wan sighed, tenderly cupping the side of his face. Anakin had gone still, looking down at the sand under his feet, drawing a confused look from Jira. She continued to look between the two boys as realization slowly set in and she let out a long breath, reaching for Anakin’s hand.
“It doesn’t look too bad. The bruise should fade quickly,” she assured, training her gaze on Anakin’s guilty face. Obi-Wan sent her a thankful look before glancing over his shoulder to scan the surrounding market absently. “Now tell me, little one, how has your new home been?”
Obi-Wan let his mind wander as Jira and Anakin spoke softly in the background, ignoring the ache in the side of his face. Usually pushing his mind away from the physical world helped him recenter himself but the last few weeks had taken a toll. He was responsible for keeping Anakin fed, loved, and safe but it made him feel like he was carrying the weight of the galaxy on his shoulders. And on top of that, Anakin wasn’t making it any easier. He was wound so tight he felt his control starting to fray and no matter how hard he tried, Obi-Wan couldn’t seem to find balance. Obi-Wan didn’t blame Anakin for Watto’s short temper but sometimes he wished Anakin would take a break from testing every single one of his limits.
Tumblr media
The hovel was quiet as the suns started their descent and Obi-Wan reached out in the Force, searching for Anakin as he prepared dinner. He could feel Anakin in his bedroom, his mind preoccupied with something and for some reason, that sent a jolt of terror through Obi-Wan. He stumbled into the doorframe, his wild eyes darting around the room until he found Anakin sitting cross-legged on the floor in the corner. A pile of metal and wires sat in front of the boy as he tinkered with something so mangled Obi-Wan couldn’t tell what it originally was anymore. He didn’t regret the evenings they spent at his workbench; Obi-Wan enjoyed passing down the knowledge Shmi had gifted him to Anakin as well as the chance to bond with the boy. But Anakin was pushing the boundaries.
“What are you doing?” Obi-Wan snapped, scaring the boy so bad he threw whatever was in his hands.
“Uh, playin’,” Anakin stuttered, his vibrant blue eyes open wide, anxiety swirling below the surface.
“No, you weren’t,” Obi-Wan countered, darting his eyes to the pile in front of the boy. “Damnit, Anakin, I told you not to touch that stuff without me.”
“But ‘m bored,” Anakin whined, rolling his head back.
“You could’ve hurt yourself!” It wasn’t the first time Obi-Wan had yelled at Anakin but this time felt different; there wasn’t a buffer between them anymore.
“I didn’t!” Anakin shouted, his features twisting in a scowl as he crossed his arms. Obi-Wan threw his hands in the air, spinning in place as if to leave but stopping himself.
“Just…” Obi-Wan started, pinching the bridge of his nose, “go wash up for dinner. Now.” Anakin didn’t move, continuing to glare at him and Obi-Wan opened his eyes, his fingers hovering just over his nose as his features hardened. “I said, now, Anakin.” Obi-Wan could see the defiance in the boy’s eyes and already anticipated it would hurt, but he knew this was coming.
“No. You’re not my mom,” Anakin snapped, narrowing his eyes. It didn’t matter that Obi-Wan tried to prepare for it, Anakin’s words hit him like a punch to the chest. He already missed Shmi and felt inadequate but hearing it from Anakin’s mouth cut him deeper than his own self-doubt.
“Fine,” was all Obi-Wan could force out before he pushed away from the door. He felt the jolt of surprise in the Force but ignored it, returning to the kitchen and fighting to keep his expression neutral. His emotions felt like a tsunami crashing against the walls keeping him together as he finished the simple dinner with shaky hands. Obi-Wan set the bowl of porridge on the table, knowing Anakin needed to eat, and walked towards his bedroom in a daze. The mattress gave under his weight and he sat staring at the stone floor, waiting for the door to glide shut.
As soon as the door closed, the damn broke. Obi-Wan cradled his head in his hands, choking on relentless sobs as the weight of the galaxy crushed him. He’d never felt so alone.
Tumblr media
Anakin faintly heard Obi-Wan moving around in the kitchen and he expected to see his guardian appear in his doorway again. The clanking in the kitchen stopped and Anakin’s eyebrows shot up his forehead when he heard the soft hiss of Obi-Wan’s door. He slowly got to his feet, tiptoeing to the doorway, and peaking into the front room, surprised to see a bowl on the table. Anakin quietly crossed the room, standing on his toes to look at the single bowl before furrowing his brow again, shifting his gaze to the closed bedroom door.
Anakin glanced back and forth between the bowl and Obi-Wan’s door, eventually wandering closer, only to stop short at the muffled sounds from inside. He’d heard Obi-Wan cry before, admittedly it was only once or twice, but it felt different this time; it made Anakin’s chest feel funny. He inched closer, gently nudging the door open a hair, shuffling closer to peer in, blinking as his eyes adjusted to the gleaming rays of the setting suns. Anakin lingered on how much lighter Obi-Wan’s hair looked in the sunlight but a ragged, muffled sob jolted him out of his wandering thoughts.
Obi-Wan was hunched over, looking so small and broken that the sight made Anakin’s heart twinge. He couldn’t see his guardian’s face but the crackling stuttered sounds bleeding out from behind the barrier of Obi-Wan’s hands were enough to confirm Anakin’s suspicions. Obi-Wan was crying harder than Anakin had ever heard, his entire body shuddering with each choked inhale. Obi-Wan looked defeated and it finally hit Anakin that it was his fault. He hurt Obi-Wan’s feelings. Anakin didn’t really mean what he said, but he just missed his mom so much. He hadn’t wanted to leave her in the first place; it broke his heart when they were shuttled away from Gardulla’s palace. Anakin could still remember the way the Force swelled around Obi-Wan when he looked at Shmi, the love for his mother that was comparable to Anakin’s. Obi-Wan was just as much Shmi’s son as Anakin and he felt even worse about his careless words the longer he thought about it. Obi-Wan was doing his best to fill the void left by his mother and Anakin loved him a little more for trying.
Anakin nudged the door open a little wider, moving as silently as possible as he slipped into the room. Obi-Wan must not have noticed his presence because he stayed hunched over, his broken sobs growing softer. Anakin stopped a few paces away, dragging his blurry eyes over the side of his guardian’s face, chewing on his lower lip. Obi-Wan jumped and his head snapped up when Anakin’s small hand rested on his trembling shoulder and he almost regretted drawing the young man’s attention. Bright red blood vessels spiderwebbed over the whites of his eyes, making the blue seem more vibrant. The skin around his eyes was puffy and glistening trails covered his cheeks; tears collected on his chin when he lifted his head, sending a stab of pain into Anakin’s heart. Obi-Wan was frozen, only blinking a few times as Anakin shuffled closer.
“Obi,” he whispered, hesitantly wrapping a hand around Obi-Wan’s fingers and tugging them away from his face. “I-I sorry, please don’t cry. I didn’t mean it.” Anakin’s voice pitched up desperately as he squeezed Obi-Wan’s hand tighter, his eyes opening wide as tears threatened to fall.
“Ani,” he croaked, squeezing his eyes shut and letting his shoulders slump. “I…it’s alright.”
“No,” Anakin cried, violently shaking his head and wedging himself between Obi-Wan’s knees. “I didn’t mean it, I didn’t mean it. I promise.”
“Sh, sh, I know, it’s alright,” Obi-Wan whispered hoarsely, cupping the back of his head, and swiping his thumb over the skin behind Anakin’s ear. “I-I’ve been upset recently and it just…it pushed me over the edge.”
“Why?” Anakin sniffled, leaning into the hand on his head and holding Obi-Wan’s gaze.
“Anakin,” Obi-Wan started, his breath hitching with the remnants of his sobs, “I don’t know what to do. I don’t know how to do this.” He cut off his next sentence, seeming to suddenly realize he was talking to a child, his eyes widened briefly. “I-I didn’t mean to say that.” Anakin gently rested his hand on Obi-Wan’s cheek, flinching when his guardian’s eyes closed, a pinched, sorrowful expression creasing his face.
“It okay to be scared, Obi.” The strangled laugh caught him off guard and when Obi-Wan’s eyes fluttered open, they looked a bit softer, some of the redness fading.
“I feel like I should be telling you that,” he laughed dryly, sniffling quietly and shifting his weight to sit up straighter. “I only want what’s best for you, Ani, and I’m worried I’m not enough.”
“You are,” Anakin whispered, mindlessly running his fingers over the ridge of Obi-Wan’s bruised cheek. At a loss for words, Anakin reached for Obi-Wan’s life force, pressing against it with his own, pushing his complicated emotions at the young man in an indiscriminate rush. He cherished, idolized, and cared for Obi-Wan more than he could ever articulate.
“Oh, Anakin,” Obi-Wan breathed, tugging Anakin closer, enveloping the boy in a physical and spiritual hug. “Thank you. I-I needed to know that.” Anakin nestled into Obi-Wan’s chest, their Force signatures curling together, strengthening their bond. Obi-Wan let out a stuttering breath and rested his chin on the boy’s head but Anakin wasn’t sure if the closeness was for his sake or Obi-Wan’s. Neither one tried to pull away, losing themselves in the blurred space between the Force and their physical bodies.
If they had nothing else, they at least had each other.

Wednesday, September 13
The past week had been great. You had gotten used to your new schedule and friends. You were starting to think maybe you could get used to this. Granted, doing something after school everyday whether it be practice or hanging out with friends, got pretty exhausting. But you didn’t mind. In the long run, it helped you sleep better.
“So who’s paying?” Hyuck asks, sliding into the booth seat across from you. Mark sat next to you.

“I can,” you say. “I have some extra money.”
Hyuck nods. “Good enough for me. When was the last time you paid?” he teases.
“I don’t know,” you say, grinning. “It’s not my fault you guys like to pay for our food.” you didn’t even know if that was true.
“You guys? More like just me. When was the last time you paid, Hyuck?” Mark asks. You internally cringe at your slip-up.
Hyuck puts his hands up in defense. “Hey, don’t get mad at me! I pay… sometimes…” he mumbles.
A waitress takes your order and you pull out your phone as Mark and Hyuck talk about something that happened in their science class. The ButterFly app is still there, almost taunting you. You ignored it and opened instagram. Finally, your social media was back to normal. No unsettling ads to be found.
You liked some pictures from your classmates -- Yeri’s selfie and a screenshot of her listening to Ariana Grande. Sihyeon, one of your new friends, posting a candid photo of her outside of a store. Suhyun, showing off a makeup look she did recently, looking cute as usual. A boy named Xiaojun posted selfies as well. You didn’t really know him, but you both had the same history class. You quickly scroll past a selfie of Naeun and Jaemin, trying to ignore it entirely.
“Do you remember that?” Mark asks you, laughing.
You put your phone down. “Remember what?”
“When you were scared of butterflies.”
You smile. Finally, something from this universe you already knew. “Yeah… I remember,” you reply, laughing. “Why do you ask?”
“Because our friend Hendery said he used to be scared of them too. It made me think of you.” Mark says, glancing away from you. “And then I took you to that butterfly garden and you suddenly loved butterflies. It was kinda cute, watching your feelings towards them turn from fear to love,” Mark tells you. You ignore the warmth in your cheeks.
The waitress returned with your food, putting it down on the table. You dug in, realizing how hungry you were. You, Mark, and Hyuck just talked about random subjects like the shows you’ve been watching on Netflix, things that happened at school and practice, and how good the food tasted until you were all ready to head out.
“I’ll go pay,” Mark says, scooting out of the booth.
“What? Mark, I said I was paying,” you argue, quickly scooting out after him.
“It’s fine. I’m used to paying.” he replies.
“Oh my god,” Hyuck groans. “You better not complain about me not paying ever again. You’re the one always volunteering.”
Mark shrugs. “I’m feeling generous.” he starts to walk towards the front counter.
“No. I said I was paying, so I’m paying.”
You go to follow him, but Hyuck suddenly grabs your wrist. “Hey, can I use your phone real quick?”
You stand, stunned, for a moment at the question. “Uh, yeah. That’s fine. The passcode is 7492.” Hyuck nods and lets go of your wrist, and you turn to catch up with Mark.
He’s pulling out his wallet. “Mark, I’m not giving up. Let me pay, please?”
Mark grins. “Okay. Since you’re so adamant,” he puts his wallet in between his arm and his side. “Rock paper scissors? Best out of 3.”
You roll your eyes, sighing. “Fine.”
Rock, paper, scissors, shoot.
You cheer as you beat Mark.
Rock, paper, scissors, shoot.
Mark wins.
Rock, paper, scissors, shoot.
You return to your table, dejected. Damn it. You didn’t even care about paying, you just wanted to beat Mark. “How is he so good at every-”
Your heart nearly stops as you see Hyuck on your phone. You recognize the familiar layout of ButterFly. And he was looking at what you sent. You snatch your phone out of his hands, your face growing hot with embarrassment. How the hell were you going to explain this to him?
“You downloaded it?” he asks, softly.
“Yes. But it’s… I just,” you try to speak, but nothing would come out.
“I knew it,” he breathes. “I used it too.”
You’re stunned again. You don’t even know how to respond. You weren’t even sure if you understood what he was saying.
Hyuck stares ahead. “I wished for something too,” he tells you. “And it put us in the same universe.”
You’re suddenly lightheaded. So this Hyuck was the one from your old life. The one who annoyed you and Jaemin everyday. And he knew you were the old you.
“Listen,” you say. Your voice is trembling. “We will talk about this later.”
“Talk about what?” you turn and see Mark.
“Homework. I used her phone to call my mom and when I hung up she got a text from a friend. We all have literature together and we just found out we have a project due on Friday.” Hyuck says, nonchalantly. “It’s a long story, but now we only have two days to do it.”
You nod, thanking the Gods above that Hyuck was a good liar.
“Damn,” Mark picks up his drink and drinks what’s left. “That sucks. I hope you guys get it done in time.”
“Yeah. We’ll have to work on it tomorrow. We don’t have practice, how about you?“ Hyuck gets out of his seat.
“I don’t either,” you reply. You all exit the restaurant start your walk home.
Mark and Hyuck talk again. You wonder what Hyuck could have wished for that put you in the same universe as him. Maybe it was the same thing. You just tried not to be too freaked out by it and tried to mentally prepare yourself to talk about it with Hyuck. You had just started to feel normal here, and now everything was turned upside down.
You make it home safely and try to relieve your stress by hanging out with Jisung and Chenle, who had come over after school. You watch them shoot hoops outside for a bit.
You wonder where Jisung’s love for basketball came from. He wasn’t really into it in your old life -- he was more into dance, although he was starting to become more and more uninterested in it. You knew Chenle was always into basketball, so maybe he was able to keep Jisung interested in it.
Then you remember that here, Mark and Hyuck were both on the basketball team. You start to think maybe Mark helped Jisung and Chenle get into it. You make a mental note to try and get Mark or Jisung to talk about it with you soon.
Once the sun started to set, Chenle went home and you went inside with Jisung. You did your homework with him. “Hey, (y/n?)”
“What’s up?” you respond, not looking up from your paper.
You hear Jisung shift in his chair. “Did you and Mark break up?”
You almost break your pencil out of surprise. You look up at Jisung, who is staring back. You weren’t even sure how to respond. Were you dating Mark? In the past week you’d spent with him, there was nothing that indicated you were dating him. He never referred to you as his girlfriend or anything like that. So surely, Jisung had to be confused right?
You took your chances.
“Jisung,” you chuckle. “Mark and I were never dating.”
Jisung’s eyes widen. “Really? But you guys spend so much time together… I just kinda assumed…” he continues working on the assignment in front of him. “I just thought you didn’t tell me because it’s none of my business,”
You sigh in relief with a smile. “But why do you ask? Mark and I are still great friends.”
“Well,” Jisung puts his pencil back down and closes his notebook. “He never comes over anymore.” he says softly.
Your shoulders drop and you sigh. “He’s just really busy,” you reply. “He’s busy with school and he has practice after school. He doesn’t have a lot of free time these days.”
“I know…” Jisung says softly. “Which is why I feel so dumb complaining. I just… miss hanging out with him. But he’s your friend, not mine. I don’t think he wants to be hanging out with some kids,”
“Hey,” you say firmly. “He’s your friend too. Trust me, Mark doesn’t care about his friends being younger. You’re only what, 2 and a half years younger than him? That’s nothing!” you say. “Seriously, you’re too in your head, okay? Don’t overthink it. Mark doesn’t hate you or anything.” you tell him.
Jisung avoids eye contact with you as he picks up his things, standing up from his spot.
“But… don’t feel dumb for being worried about things like that. It’s normal. Don’t be afraid to talk to me if you’re ever feeling sad, alright?” you tell him. He gives you a small smile before nodding and leaving the room.
It was awkward to tell him that. Jisung never talked about his feelings to you, and you definitely didn’t do it either. That just wasn’t how your relationship was. Jisung was 10 times happier here than he was in your old life, but even now he still had worries. All you could feel was guilt; You had been sacrificing Jisung’s feelings for the sake of not feeling embarrassed.
You shake the feeling off and try to finish your homework. You had enough to feel stressed and guilty about, there was no to go back and fix things now.
Or so you think.

New Start - Chapter 2 (Modern Ivar x Reader)
This is a new chapter. Again, I’m sorry for my bad english :)
Tumblr media
Chapter 2: First day
You woke up very early this morning despite the fact that you had a horrible night. You saw all the hours scrolling by on your smartphone and all because of what? This morning is your first day of work at Ragnar & Sons Corporation.
You decide to dress soberly so as not to draw attention to yourself, you are very discreet by nature even though you have a very strong character. You take your black pencil skirt, a white top with black dots. You thread your stockings before perfecting your outfit of these clothes which cost you an arm. For the make-up, you opt for a purple eye shadow with a light pink tint, a little mascara to raise your long lashes and a gloss color peach. On your last birthday, you were lucky, there's no other word for it, that your friends gave you the pair of Louboutin that you were looking at on the internet. It's fitting that you should wear them today: working in the largest trading company in Kattegat.
After you have prepared yourself properly, you take your small purse, your bag with your laptop and you run out of your apartment to get your Uber which awaits you at the bottom of your building. In the car, you have time to reminisce about that weird interview with Ivar. And especially his last sentence: "I should punish you". Are you going to have a relationship with the boss who fantasizes about his employee? Or is it just a kind of hazing to say that you are well integrated into their company? You can't answer any of these questions, only Ivar can, but of course you're not going to ask him.
After a ride of about fifteen minutes, your Uber will drop you off at your new job. You get out of the car, walk into the main hall, nod to the secretaries aka Miss Kardashian, and wait in front of the elevator after calling him. Behind you, you hear the Kardashian sisters giggling, you turn around and see Hvitserk and Ubbe flirting with them. You look up to the sky and sigh "Those Lothbrocks are real flirts". Hvitserk glances at you and starts running towards you before you get on the elevator. "Hey Y/N, how are you? Ready for your first day? "he kisses you on the cheek. "Yes I'm fine, well a little stressed, I'd say a lot."
Ubbe joins the conversation after leaving the four secretaries in a trance. It is that Ubbe was the spitting image of Ragnar, he is tall, chestnut hair in a bun, a well-groomed beard, she looks soft and silky, eyes of an exceptional blue, but not as much as those of Ivar.
He stood up to you, "You're with us, everything is going to be all right. And while we're waiting for the final layout of your office, you're going to move into Hvitserk's and my office. »
"Oh", you are more than surprised, "thank you I hope I'm not disturbing you too long", you blush. "I hope you're not disturbing us," Hvitserk replied, "it's going to be a change to have female company with us," he elbowed his brother with a wink, Ubbe chuckled shyly.
The three of you enter the elevator, you arrive in a few seconds on the 15th floor, there are more people than last time in the corridors, the staff is shaking all over the place. "He's in a bad mood this morning," says Ubbe pouting to Hvitserk.
"Yes, it's going to be another difficult day," confirms Hvitserk.
"What?  Who's in a bad mood? "You say in a panic, Ubbe puts his hand around your waist to take you to their office. "Come on, we'll explain, but not here, he might hear us.
Their office is as big as Ivar's, there are three desks, two of which face each other and the third is in the corner near the entrance. They are the same color dark wood, there are computers on each of them, pencil pots and on the brothers' you can see a pile of files rather badly arranged. You turn to the last desk, assuming it is yours. You put your stuff on it, Hvitserk waves you to sit on the chair he just brought you. Ubbe clears his throat "You know that our little brother needs a crutch and braces to walk? "You nod slightly, Ubbe continued, "In fact, since birth he has had a bone disease, bones can break into a thousand pieces. He underwent several surgeries to get to this point today. And sometimes, depending on the weather, his state of fatigue or if he is upset, his legs make him suffer. »
"I understand," you looked down, the thought that Ivar could suffer broke your heart, you are confused to feel such feelings of empathy for him.
"And then with women it's complicated, they only see his twisted legs," Hvitserk added. "Hvitty, don't say that, this is neither the time nor the place," Ubbe exclaimed, giving his little brother a dark look, and then he continued, "Well, I think it's time to get to work, Y/N, if you'll take the trouble to sit down," showing you your desk chair.
"Thank you Ubbe, that's nice," you whisper softly. You settle comfortably in your leather armchair, take your laptop and open it. Hvitserk gives you many files for the day's work, he explains between the lines who their collaborators are by adding a few jokes. You sit comfortably in your leather chair, take your laptop and open it. Hvitserk gives you many files  You even assume that he is flirting with you, but you don't pay any more attention to that. You haven't seen Ivar yet and you wanted to say hello to him to thank him again for giving you this work opportunity. You concentrate and quickly get to work.
After a few minutes, Ivar stormed into the room, his face closed and he is very upset about what you can see, "Fucking English people, Ecbert and his son don't make it easy for us !  "he shouted, "Ivar, my brother, what's going on? "Ubbe worried. Ivar sat down on a chair next to his big brother's desk and said, "What's going on is that Ecbert wants to review our agreement concerning the branch we are to establish in England ! This bastard has his conditions before signing the final contract...".
"Let father take care of it, he went there to talk about it with Ecbert and Aethelwulf. Trust him, Ivar," Ubbe reassured Ubbe.
"In any case, we have to talk about it together, meeting at 2 pm in the great hall ! "ordered Ivar, then he gets up, takes his crutch and goes towards the door. He turns to you and says "Welcome among us Y/N, I hope you don't regret it! "he opens the door and leaves.
You didn't have time to tell him anything, all you thought was that your relationship with Ivar was going to be complicated. But nothing frightens you, you tell yourself that he is just a human being, with his good and bad sides, but we are all like that. You just have to get to know him.
The fateful hour of the meeting came very quickly, you take a notebook, a pen and you go into the big room with your two office roommates. The three of you enter, you see Sigurd and Björn already settled in, they greet you with a nod and a broad smile. Hvitserk had already introduced them to you on the day of your interview. Ivar arrives last, still upset, and settles down at the end of the table, like a king leading his kingdom. He signals to his brothers to summarize the situation with the English and the famous Ecbert. You take notes, and remain silent. In spite of everything, you feel an insistent look on you, it was Ivar's, he hasn't taken his eyes off you for long minutes. You thought it was a kind of test to destabilize you, but you remained neutral. You keep taking notes until the end of the meeting. Ivar frees you all to go about your business.
You return to your office to finish the big file you started in the early afternoon. After an hour or two of long concentration, Hvitserk and Ubbe leave the office to go home. They say goodbye to you, Hvitserk, give you a kiss on the cheek before adding "Don't work too late on your first day, don't forget to rest, tomorrow is another day! "while Ubbe is content with a kiss on the hand and a beautiful catalog smile. You laugh and wave goodbye. You hadn't finished your file, you absolutely wanted to close it today.
You've finally finished, it's already 7pm, oh gods, you haven't seen how much time has passed, you tell yourself that you'll probably be alone upstairs when everyone has left. You gather your things, you go to the elevator, you press the button when you feel a presence behind you. You look over your shoulder, he is standing there close to you: Ivar.
"It is not good to wander the corridors alone, Y/N ," he says in a dark tone as he stands next to you.
"I was finishing a file, I wanted to close it today so that I could have peace of mind about the others tomorrow. "you say calmly. The elevator arrives at your level, Ivar waves to let you pass, you enter followed by Ivar.
He presses the button on the first floor, the doors close, the elevator starts to go down.
There is a long silence in the elevator until it reaches the required level, the doors begin to open, you put one foot forward to get out but Ivar takes you by the arm, puts you against the wall, wedges you against his body and kiss you passionately. You are surprised, you realize with astonishment that you are not rejecting him but giving him back his kiss. He stopped it after a few seconds, you are both panting, you stare at each other. Ivar gets out of the elevator, he turns around and says "I hope your first day was satisfactory", then he left.
Oh gods, what shit are you in?

okay so i know i mentioned on here before that i have a bunch of dreams when i sleep and how i had that cute one with xiao & mingxiao before right?? 👀
forgot to share it sooner bc life but anyway i had a funny/cute dream with diluc the other day (i'll try to add a read more bc this got a lil long but it doesn't always work on mobile so i'll try & fix it asap if so!) but yeah this kinda turned into a whole fic of its own lol,,
Tumblr media
☆ the dream itself is here, under the cut! ☆
Tumblr media
basically, to not have to explain all the lore about my oc/self insert and all that again, the tldr of it is that i landed on teyvat similar to traveler but didn't really have anywhere to go so after gaining his trust and becoming close, diluc sort of just takes me in and lets me work at the tavern + lets me stay in a spare room at the winery. so yeah we often walk to/from work together if he's working at angel's share that day, and i guess everyone just assumes we're dating?? ...except for me, that is, who still thought he was in love with jean (bc of the whole stormterror thing).
one night, kaeya's been hanging out in the tavern all night, venti's already left or passed out or smth, and then once things close up, diluc and i get ready to head off, but apparently this is the first time kaeya's seen us head off together/in the same direction, and immediately decides to start teasing. he's all "ooh look at the two lovebirds, you've moved in together already? how'd you ask her out, i didn't know you two were a thing, congrats bro so glad she likes you back" kinda stuff and then i just start laughing and telling him to knock it off, wouldn't want jean to overhear and misunderstand. and they're both just like ......wait what? and i'm all "oh cause diluc likes jean right? i thought the were like an Unspoken Thing yknow??" and both stare at me as if i've grown like 3 heads and started doing a one-(wo)man barber shop quartet. lightbulb goes off in kaeya's head that i don't know jack shit & we're not a thing (yet) and diluc is just thinking like "i can't believe you're literally this oblivious, holy shit". hence kaeya's teasing The Sequel, where he just starts complimenting my uniform and says i look like a cute little maid or whatever and diluc is silently fuming behind me. he mutters something along the lines of "how oblivious can you possibly be?" and all but throws his coat/jacket over me to try and cover me "bc it's cold" (yeah yeah sure, jealous much? haha), then asks me how i never noticed how he felt about me. so i'm there having an earth teyvat-shattering moment of revelation that it WASN'T jean he liked, and that he didn't do all those nice things for me bc i'm friends with her, but because he liked...me????
kaeya smugly walks off with a little "you're welcome", after a his shenanigans, and i'm still trying to process things bc i'd never seen diluc that way, always assuming he'd liked someone else so i never really looked at him that way. we kind of quietly resume our walk back "home" and im clutching his jacket close to me, then we both try to speak at the same time, he tries to ask for my response/reaction and i was trying to ask for some time. he's kind of confused and almost looks hurt, but agrees to give me some time to think, since i explained the whole "not seeing him in that light" and didn't want to answer on a whim. that i didn't want to mistake gratitude for all he's done for me for affection and stuff so he was like hey good point i wouldn't want you to feel like i forced you into this, and no you're not gonna get kicked out/fired if you don't like me back, it's okay. diluc mentions having to be away for 2 weeks cause of a work trip and that i can respond then.
in the meantime, a bunch happened like a trip to liyue with aether & paimon, a whole girls' talk over tea with jean & lisa over the situation, and got my own lil serenitea pot so i potentially had the option of moving out now if i wanted to. i decided to my day off from the tavern to go out on a little adventure, just journey around and test out the teapot home and all that jazz. ran into noelle and we hung out/trained for awhile together and invited her in for for a tea break and stuff, like it was just really cute and fun. but apparently diluc came back a few days early and was freaking out when i was nowhere to be found, no one had any idea where i was, and was just really concerned something might happen to me. then noelle arrives through the gates and overhears him asking lisa stuff and goes all "oh she's over by (idk where i was maybe that bit of land between mond & liyue?) and he thanks her for the info and runs off to find me. he finds the teapot (somehow) on some rock but doesn't see me and i come back out of my lil abode bc someone outside kept saying my name and then i felt the teapot shake (he'd picked it up). cue a dramatic reunion in the rain bc when isn't it pouring and trying to kill me in teyvat in true romcom fashion i guess.
diluc is all "do you have any idea how worried i was about you? all alone out here? any of the abyss mages could have hurt you or taken you away or-" just rambles on and meanwhile im having this sort of Oh You're Back and I Think I'm Feeling Things realization (absence makes the heart grow fonder lol). so there's just this kind of strong, desperate hug moment and everything's quiet, save for the pouring rain and faroff occasional lightning strike. and i whispered something along the lines of "i think i'm in love with you" and his eyes widen before responding smth like "i think i'm in love with you too" with a fond smile, the first genuine huge smile i've ever seen on him (pls picture him like in the manga and not his in game ._. face PLS-🤣). cue another romcom cliche reunion hug + kiss scene in the rain, in which we take shelter from the rain inside the serenitea pot bc of how bad the storm kept getting.
(aether has tubby but i have chummy, kinda looks like the teapot salesman, and i usually just call her chums.) so we're greeted by chums who kind of is like staring daggers at diluc bc i showed up with a guest unannounced, drenched, and we're holding hands. she's overprotective in a very Mom Friend kind of way but she just means well. we change into some baggy share clothes i have and then i scrambled up something to eat (since we can apparently cook & forge in our lil pot i love that so much-) anyway so we decide to get some rest bc it's late and have the Oh No There Was Only One Bed conundrum until we agree to just share and sleep on opposite sides bc nbd right? i turned in my sleep and essentially was hugging his back whilst asleep, and he just turned over at some point and hugged me too, and booooiiii was this fire boy WARM, he felt like a personal heater and after all that rain, i slept like a log. diluc woke up before me cause he's used to an earlier schedule and slips out quietly to speak to chummy, asking if she knew where the supplies were cause he wanted to surprise me with breakfast (and man can he cook! goodbye kfc, hello good hunter). chummy is still kind of not vibing with him, until he apologizes for "intruding" and explains everything that's happened, to which chums kind of softens up and realizes he's sweet and just wants to do something nice, not go around raiding the house. woke up alone and went to look for the source of the smell, and kinda just clung to him, making diluc blush. don't remember too much more after the cooking thing though besides going for a stroll around my teapot layout, meeting all the pets that chill there, and kinda just having a relaxing day off together. the winery staff was probably freaking out wondering where we were, but we were just kinda in our own world (literally?), enjoying the peace before returning to all the chaos that is teyvat. cutest damn dream ❤

Bully Oc Quotes: Richard Sinclair
((Gonna go off the actual wiki layout))
Conversing
My father has been getting to eat a lot more, but now he wants me to start working out
I can pay my around this place but i feel like that’s just a waste of money
A lot of people think I’m nice but then get hurt with what I say, so I don’t know what they would like for me to be
My birthmark tends to be very distracting in conversations, but I can’t seem to find the right makeup shade for my skin
Those jocks really get aggressive for the littlest things
Father gave me the key to his garage and my mother gave me the keys to her winery
When wondering around
People always stares at my face like I’ve got some sickness-
I wonder if my parents get bothered that my music taste is far different than theirs
I’m not that small- am I?
I don’t know who’s scarier, the jocks or the townies
Everyone is always tryna hurt me but jokes on them I can’t feel it half Of the time.
Gotta renew these bandages
I hope the bruise goes away soon
Everything is sore, why does it have to be sore
I may hurt myself unintentionally because of what I do but doesn’t mean I’m stupid
Why do the scary ones like me..?
Chasing someone
You’re more of a girl than I am
What’s wrong? You afraid of little ol me?
((No attacking because Richard is the only prep who doesn’t fight physically))
Insulting
Oh what the world has turned you into
You look both lonely and pathetic, not that it’s anything new
It’s a shame this school resorted in letting animals like you in
Real mature, do it again and maybe it can actually get you some attention
I’m guessing you escaped the rat trap
Someone notify the circus that one if their freaks was let out
Oh I feel so very bad for where you came out from
You’re not that pretty
You wish that was charming
You should be sorry for who you are
Out of breath
I need to work out
I shouldn’t be this out of breath at such a young age
When crying
...it hurts so much... why does it hurt this much...
When kicked in groin
OW! You Unfair...Lowlife!
When knocked out
Ah the floor.. my own friend I’ve learned..to love
That didn’t hurt..
I think I’m gonna pass out..
How unfortunate..it is..to be me
That’s.. gonna leave a mark...
Hit with a stink bomb
Someone please take a bath
That reeks more than the locker room after a game
Ally help me
Uh, could you give me a hand with this?!
please help me! I’m not a fighter!
Bumped into (friendly)
Oh, please do forgive me
My apologies
That’s my fault, can’t see from 1 eye after all hehe..
Bumped into (hostile)
Do you mind?
Are you stupid or something?
Watch where you’re going would you?
Move it
Don’t be a bother
I’d watch it if I were you
Don’t make me get the others on your ass
When bumped into other cliques
(Townies) I would ask you to watch it but I’m not trying to start trouble
(Greaser) I know you’re trying to take my money but you’re gonna have to try harder than that
(Nerd) get your glasses fixed cause clearly you can’t see where you’re going
(Jock) I don’t need your sweat on me
Saying goodbye
I must be going, mother is making food today and I do enjoy her cooking
I’ll catch up later, I must head off
I’ve got somewhere to be, we can speak more about this later
I do need to pick up some new clothes, see you.
Grossed out
Um,, excuse me, what is that?
Devilish-
Spat on
You Donkey! Haven’t you heart of having manners?!
Watching a fight
Oh it’s fun to watch others fight
Chicken fight!
My money is on the biggest one
Show them no mercy
When fire alarm is pulled
I wonder where the fire is
Flustered
Oh,, uh- hi
Look we don’t gotta get too ahead of ourselves-
I- I’m sorry if I did something
We..we can sort this out-
Receiving a gift
Oh how cute,for me?
You’re sweet, maybe you’re fitting to be a prep after all
You didn’t have to, honestly
You’re charming, really you are
Greeting
Bonjour
Hello
Good evening
Hi
Flirt
I’m more than just a pretty face
Grooming
Is it really that bad?(referring to birthmark)
Hm, maybe I should cover it up
I’m not that ugly-
Cute...?
I don’t see the resemblance between me and derby
Requesting an errand
Mind helping me out?
Here’s something you can prove to me
I have something I need you to help me with
Unknown
I’m nothing like him
My father is a more hush hush man
I’m average but even then that doesn’t make them leave me alone
I’ve broken 10 bones and I’m fine
I’m not inbred like the others but people assume just because of the birthmark
People always get a good impression of me just by the look but as soon as I talk I’m either weird or scary
I swear I’m nice
What a handsome fellow
What a beautiful girl
Don’t hurt me
Why do people always shove me against the lockers..?
I swear I’m not crazy
My elder brother scares me.. wait I’m not suppose to mention him-
I’ve been called a fruit before
I know more than what the others may think
Watch yourself or else people will end up at your door step
I have a lot of bruises on my body and my parents thought it was from a girl until I told them I fell out of a tree

The start of a mission is always simple enough...

Another month, another transfer. That’s how life had been since Bunbun gotten out of the academy. It’s not that she wasn’t trying to get along with whatever crew she was placed with. Quite the opposite, in fact. She might be nervous around every stranger she meets, but her careful monitoring of crewmate activity had saved more than one ship from disaster. Yet, every month, she’d have to say goodbye to any friends she’d made, and start all over with a new crew. She wondered if said “disasters” were why they were transferring people so often. To get people away from traumatic memories, perhaps? Then again, all the SKELDs looked the same. HQ wasn’t known for transferring crewmates between ship models if they were unfamiliar with the layout. She wondered if it was a good idea to keep crewmates so unfamiliar with each other, too. Wouldn’t it be better to learn your crew’s habits? To spend more time together? Wouldn’t it be easier to pick out inconsistency, rather than relying on shot-in-the-dark accusations? Wouldn’t the impostor stick out like a sore thumb? Or would it just give it more time to adapt? But, in the long run, what did she know? She was just the maintenance crewmate. She was just glad she’d left every ship breathing. Not every electrician was that lucky.
Bunbun eyed the docking port as she stood before it. Everything seemed properly hooked up. Nothing was out of place. The ship managed to look almost new, from what she could see. She heaved a sigh, hefting a bag over her shoulder, and checking that her emergency pack was attached. She would’ve liked to adjust her bandanna, too, but her fingers just brushed against the top of her pink helmet. That was the thing about boarding a new ship. No matter how well sealed a port was, one could never be too careful. So, full suit it is. Even if it could be a little inconvenient. The docking door opened with a couple clanks, the hiss of pressurized air greeting her before the captain could. Their dark green suit looked weathered, the star-shaped patch on their suit nearly faded gray with solar exposure. She could see bits of their face peeking through the usual visor glare. What she saw were the telltale signs of extended space travel exposure; their coiled hair had a fine dusting of white, their dark skin had wrinkled stripes, their deep brown eyes seemed just a bit sunken in their sockets. Despite all this, the captain’s smile was warm. They gave Bunbun a rather jaunty wave on their way over. She waved back shyly. “Hello there! I’m Captain Groud. Glad to have you aboard, Miss Ambrosia!” captain Groud hummed. They held out their hand, and she took it, giving it a gentle shake. “Th-thank you! I’m Bunbun. I’m, um, glad you requested me,” she replied softly, “Hopefully I can, um, stay for awhile. I-I didn’t realize how much transferring a crewmate goes through before I got out of school.” “Yeah, space work really throws you all over,” Groud chuckled, shaking their head. “But I promise you’ll have some good work on ol’ D34.” They glanced back at the ship fondly. “She might be an older model, but she’s served us well.” “I’d... hope so…?” Bunbun blinked. “It, um, looks like a very nice ship.” She tried for a polite smile. It probably didn’t come out right, seeing as she’d realized why this particular ship wanted her so badly. They’re probably decades behind on their software updates, she sighed internally. But she gave her head a little shake. Just means there’s plenty of work to do! I can handle that. “So, you ready to climb aboard? Got all your things?” Ground asked. Bunbun nodded, and they grinned. Stepping back, they made a sweeping gesture towards the gangplank. “Step right up, Bunbun! Let’s introduce you to the rest of the crew!” “E-eheheh, y-yeah,” Bunbun twittered. Shifting her bag, she slowly plodded onto the ship. She only stopped once, to gently knock her helmet against the entrance. For luck, of course. Here’s to hoping it’s a successful new assignment.
