Marty started out after their doctorate as a self-proclaimed and very ill-advised "hero", using xeir skills in robotics and sense of showmanship to attempt to fight crime vigilante-style for clout as 'Techfly'. But the world xey live in is already full of magic and mad science to some extent, and anyone trying to be a hero is quickly recognized as what they are- an attention-seeking and often very destructive weirdo. Marty was this many-fold, often disrespectful to the autonomy of those around xem, dangerous, and VERY self aggrandizing.

It wasn't long before xey embraced outright villainy.
