So as one of the things I decided to do in the new year is start art journaling. Which for me is painting a little something everyday. What I have mostly been painting is more of an abstract kind of journaling. What’s funny is that when I started painting back in 98 or before🤷🏻‍♀️ , I never was much of a fan of abstract work. I just didn’t get it. Maybe I still don’t to some point BUT I’m starting to. I like the freedom it affords me. I can put down any thing I choose to just release whatever is on my mind. It gives me a freedom to express whatever and the viewer may, or more than likely, may not find where my mind is going but that’s not a bad thing. They can make up their own mind in the piece. My other forms of art well they tell a story that’s somewhat easier to follow. Maybe you still don’t see what I was thinking when painting the piece but you still have a story in your head. I like the rawness of the abstract, it’s like taking it more down to the bare bones of things for me. Whatever the case I am enjoying experimenting and journaling all the while still working on my current piece that’s on the easel. Here is my most recent journal piece.
