"India is my country..... I am proud of its rich and varied heritage..." Every child begins his school everyday with this pledge sung in the school assembly. This pledge is melodiously sung amidst the pleasant morning atmosphere underneath the open sky. Nagpur school children are no exception! Thirty school teachers participated in the 'Teachers'Training program' organised by INTACH Nagpur Chapter and Architectural Sankul. Teachers were trained with the strategies and system to establish Heritage Clubs in their respective schools. This program was strongly supported by INTACH HECS. Many schools in the town namely: 1) Delhi Public school, Lava 2) St. Ursula Girls High School,Civil lines 3) Delhi Public School, Kamptee 4) St.Francis de Sales,Sadar 5) Dinanath High School, Dhantoli 6) Gaikwad Patil International School s 7) Shrinivas Public School, Seminary Hill and 8) Centre Point School,Wardhaman nagar have already installed the Heritage Club in their respective schools. INTACH, New Delhi team has appreciated the Architectural Sankul organization for being the first INTACH Chapter to initiate for establishing Heritage Clubs in the schools of Nagpur city. INTACH Nagpur Chapter Convenor Mr.Kishor Divekar, Dr.Madhura Rathod (Co-Convenor INTACH Nagpur Chapter and Co founder of Architectural Sankul) along with Architect Nitika Ramani (INTACH Nagpur Chapter Executive Committee member and Co founder of Architectural Sankul) has appealed to the citizens of Nagpur to propagate the Heritage awareness on larger scale. INTACH HERITAGE CLUB INSTALLATION AT CENTRE POINT SCHOOL, WARDHAMAN NAGAR, NAGPUR Recently INTACH HERITAGE CLUB was installed at CENTRE POINT SCHOOL, Wardhaman nagar, Nagpur. Dr. Madhura Rathod (Co-Convenor, INTACH Nagpur Chapter) and Ar. Nitika Ramani (Executive Committee Member, INTACH Nagpur Chapter) were the guests invited for the occasion. Establishing Heritage Club in Schools of Nagpur is the joint venture of INTACH Nagpur Chapter and Architectural Sankul, Nagpur. Till date 8 Schools have successfully established these clubs. The Centre Point School, Vice-Principal, Mrs Deepa Chakraborty along with the two heritage club incharge teachers- Mr. Sameer Sonekar & Mrs Nisreen Sabir arranged this program on the occasion of World Tourism Day. The intention was to encourage young students to be aware about rich Indian Heritage. The guests were welcomed by the Principal with beautiful saplings. Ar. Nitika Ramani addressed the students and motivated them to know that being the bright, young citizens' of tomorrow's India they hold the responsibility to take care of the past for the future. Various issues like conservation, preservation and restoration of both tangible and intangible heritage of India are the need of the time - said Ar. Ramani. Students were appreciated by distributing Heritage Passports and badges. Students actively interacted with the guests and showed their enthusiasm to contribute by writing articles, poems, sketching, painting and film making. They presented a skit on the theme of Tourism and Heritage. INTACH Nagpur Chapter has promised the schools to help in all possible ways to keep the mission going. Recently Gaikwad-Patil International school conducted an INTACH Heritage Club installation ceremony. The Principal of the school Mrs. Shabi Chaurasia welcomed Dr.Madhura Rathod and Ar.Nitika Ramani. The program was conducted by the students during their school assembly. Students presented a good skit and a dance reflected local culture and tradition. The guest honoured the 30 students members of INTACH Heritage Club with badges and passports. Dr. Madhura Rathod delivered a speech clearing the objectives of this club, the activities, and the future vision. She highlighted on the need of the time to conserve and preserve our rich tangible and intangible heritage for next generation. INTACH Nagpur Chapter and Architectural Sankul has initiated to start INTACH SCHOOL HERITAGE CLUBS. Recently, St. Francis de Sales, Nagpur conducted an INTACH Club Installation Ceremony. Dr. Madhura Rathod (CoConvenor,INTACH Nagpur Chapter and AS- Director & Co-Founder) and Architect Nitika Ramani (Executive Member INTACH Nagpur Chapter and AS- Director & Co-Founder) were welcomed as a chief guest for the ceremony. Father Samuel along with Mrs.Uma Manyam and Mrs. Diana Francis (INTACH school heritage club incharges) coordinated the program. Students of the heritage club presented a small documentary and skit focusing on need to conserve and preserve India's rich heritage. 30 participants were honoured with passports and badges. Students took a pledge to protect both intangible and tangible heritage. Children were conscious about the need of the time to protect our sources of water for they said the situation is alarming. The guests encouraged the children to spread this awareness to larger group of society.
