Decided to submit something for @hellofromthehallowoods recap!! Diggory and percy are both very special to me, so it was the perfect excuse to draw their little moment in the last episode of season one >:)

It's late and I'm thinking about transness and media and Hello from the Hallowoods. It has many trans characters, but Percy Reed is so important to me because I think there is so much to his tragedy. I've just finished season one and there's something so beautiful about the fact that Percy still grieves when Solomon dies.

Solomon Reed who, in Percy's own words, is 'bigotry central'. Solomon Reed who will be grieved by so few, a scourge on the lives of so many. Solomon Reed who murdered and tortured and hated so many.

And yet in the end, his son still weeps for him. And I think there's something so beautiful in the fact that Percy is allowed to grieve. He's allowed to be furious at his dad, but he's also allowed to be sad for the life he could have had, for the love he missed out on. Solomon is not forgiven or accepted, but Percy is allowed to deal with the grief of losing his family without judgement, even if they were terrible people.

It can be so easy to talk about cutting toxic people out of your life, but I think it's important to remember to let yourself grieve the loss, even if it's for the better.

If percy had a book about growing up with the instrumentalist, minus the happy ending (I haven't finished the book yet). I think this would be that book

What am I supposed to do with all of this dread. Percy is panicking and when he panics he tends to lash out to try and keep himself safe and I’m sure that’s served him in the past but it’s really not the thing to do in a relationship where both parties care for each other. And Diggory despite all of their good intentions is NOT helping and now things have gone from bed to worst and I have to wait a week AT LEAST to see what happens next! And I’m worried for them and frankly everyone else.

Hello from the Hallowoods as a comic book cover for my illustration class! i’ve been listening to it a lot lately and I was so excited to draw fanart for an assignment lol.

The piece is inspired by Mike Mignola’s cover art style. (also i can’t remember if Solomon actually plays a violin at any point but it looks cool)
