Rufius [Give them an inch… - only Arni could be controlled]
Arni wanted two things: to get fit and to get a good reputation. the second wish aligned with what he needed for a promotion, but unfortunately, he couldn't fulfill it. while Arni was busy at work, the servant, Leona, was slacking away, Aetius in his teenage rebellion didn't want to educate himself, and even Arni's beloved daughter seemed to have caught the same weird laziness. to top it off, both goat kids went missing.
Aetius is an Unlucky Daredevil, so I doubt this combination will serve him well later in life. at least he is a Knowledge sim. both make sense with how he ended up in this household. he is also uncannily similar to my real self even though his parents are not :D so, as the Watcher, I will favor him.
Circulus
Aelius, Aetius's twin, has grown up as well… into an Evil Sailor with Pleasure aspiration. [he sounds like a man who would take off on a campaign, do all kinds of bad things overseas, then return only to do the same things here at home. Oceanography, Military or a custom career? hmm…] Aelius and Portia are VERY vocal about not liking each other romantically, but weirdly enough, they make good friends.
Claretta is free to explore her passion for Science. her contributions to astronomy, probably under her husband's name, have earned the household a hefty sum. she taught Portia some literacy (or at least how to count), and the girl has been helping financially as well. both lambs have grown up to be rams; one was slaughtered and sold, the other one disappeared without a trace.
Quintus, who was taught to walk what seems like yesterday, is now going to school with his siblings. he is Absent-Minded, Candida is serious to a fault (No Sense of Humor), and Ovidius… is a weird kid (Insane). he is experiencing a slight childhood crush on Abelia: all his wishes are about her. since the old emperor is dead now, and Clematis with his Pleasure aspiration doesn't seem to share his concerns about Abelia, she might escape the fate of becoming a Vestal, and this pair might have a future.
Timerius was visited both by Claretta and Aelius. the boy is already imagining sailing far and wide, using his father's cupboard as a prop. despite having no friends that aren't relatives, Timerius earns a promotion by agreeing to a dangerous goods shipping trip.

patrician households, year 3: spring
Arni doesn't mind Aetius's presence in his house, neither does Zaria. Aurea, however, is another matter. she is very Nice, while Aetius is very Grouchy, their personalities clash and they don't get along too well.
Zaria is now an adult, an unhappy one. she desperately wants to start a family of her own. the only candidate I can find is Arni's colleague - they have two bolts, so this might work out. Arni would definitely want to give his niece a good life.
anyway, sending Aetius back home might not be the best decision right now. the Circulus family has a new child, Quintus. this isn't the only reason: I got some fun ROS for the summer.

all patrician households, year 2: fall
the whole two of them, yes
Claretta is exhausted, and so am I. she had Ovidius in the beginning of the season, and they proceeded to make another baby that is going to survive as well. the bad house layout is a good excuse for me to cheat everyone's needs from time to time, because someone always gets stuck somewhere and makes it unable to normally fulfill the needs. I really have to rearrange some things, though. Timerius is very slowly building their wealth by painting.
the twins, Aelius and Aetius, have aged up. the ROS for this household was for a child/teen to run away. Aetius is Grouchy, so he is more likely to fight with his parents, but then Aelius is Playful and could do it just for fun... eventually, I chose Aetius because of his more extreme personality. they gossiped about Antheia a lot - she died when they both weren't even taught to talk, but I guess the adults kept mentioning her and Aetius wanted to investigate what happened to his mysterious dead aunt.
so, Aetius arrived safely. he wasn't impressed by Aurea, but Zaria was impressed by his exaggerated stories. Arni hasn't met him yet, but he is a decent human being, so he'll let Aetius stay and keep him safe for the whole next season. oh, Arni was also promoted twice, making him a Paralegal, but his career growth isn't so exciting.
this event has also settled it for me - Aelius will be the heir as the more reliable one. now that I think about it, it's kind of weird to keep a child of your brother-in-law for two years... but maybe not so weird when it's a spare child. at this point, Arni could as well keep him for longer and/or adopt him because he doesn't have an heir of his own.

Circulus, year 1: the rest of the summer
some families are fine. some make me feel like I am a failure. Circulus is certainly the latter.
Taiga only returned home two days before adulthood, but she's been making up for her escape, and honestly, they can't afford executing her.
someone (ahem) only now learned to lock the fence (HOPEFULLY) to stop sheep from escaping or being stolen.
grrrrr. the worst thing about it is that it was Sciura who stole the ewe. one of the sisters runs away, the other steals despite living in the emperor's household. what is it with these girls? I thought long and hard and decided to look the other way, because I really _don't_ want to punish anyone.
in the span of the summer, the only good thing was that Timerius was first officially proclaimed an adult and then grew up to be one.
he has also mastered Creativity and sold his first masterpiece. funds 6,947 → 7,120. paradoxically, the patricians in my game aren't too wealthy. Mila doesn't have a potential spouse among my other sims, and neither has Timerius. for Timerius, I'll have to create a suitable wife, and as for Mila, I don't know. maybe she'll marry a plebeian and I'll make them a smaller house with a farm. Antheia was rolled not to marry, but we'll see.

Circulus, year 1: spring + 1/2 summer
the Circulus family are really unlucky. Taiga Ferus was supposed to live with them as a servant, but the girl RAN AWAY the second she appeared on the lot.
Hota was selected to become a Vestal and left home.
the only people left are therefore Zoe, Mila, Timerius and Antheia. things are pretty hard without a servant to help.
Zoe handles the sheep and everything related to them. misfortunes didn't end there: the ram somehow went missing, and a new one had to be bought.
Mila became an adult. she has no potential partner yet, so she's staying to help at home and mostly does the cooking. Cooking 1 -> 2, Mechanical 0 -> 1.
Antheia is now a teen. she's a Popularity sim. I envisioned her as a Family sim, but RNG had other plans. Creativity 0 -> 2, Cleaning 0 -> 2.
Timerius, as a typical Fortune teenager in my game, is absolutely miserable. he picked up painting to make some money, but Antheia was coming up to the easel and basically stealing his paintings by finishing them automatically. I couldn't leave the poor boy depressed, so I wasted two days of summer for him to earn 100 simoleons. Mechanical 0 -> 1 and Creativity 3 -> 8.
he has also painted Zoe's portrait, since she is the only ancestor alive. not very flattering, with this dropped jaw, but let's pretend she was starting to speak.
Sagitta Ferus, as the loving daughter that she is, came to visit.
things are bad. the funds went down: 7,316 -> 6,947. Taiga is still missing, and she doesn't have much time until becoming an adult. I have half a mind to make it a death sentence for her if she only comes back once an adult; it should be a death sentence, given that she is a slave.

Rufius [no ROS]
with some patience (and a bit of help from the sim blender), the children finally start to get along. Arni shows no signs of wanting to get married for the second time, and he sees Aetius as his own heir. he won't be adopting him officially, instead he has a pretty unconventional plan for Aetius to marry Aurea and take her family name instead.
Zaria has set her sights on Amethystos Neomenia, and the attraction is mutual, so they will get married later when Amethystos is an adult. since she will be moving out, Arni has taken Leona Ferus as a servant. she grew up to be a stunning young woman as well.
Circulus [Abandonment - Timerius]
Timerius has grown unhappy with his life choices: he feels like his family is holding him back from achieving his dream of being extremely wealthy (he is right, though). he discussed it with Zoe, and she, like the loving and wise mother she is, agreed he needs to pursue his goals. so Timerius kissed his kids goodbye and left.
what Zoe didn't expect was for her time to come so soon after her son had left. Claretta had to take Portia Longus as a servant. she couldn't handle the household and the children all on her own, even though it is easier now that Quintus is the only toddler. Ovidius is now a child. the Circulus genes are obvious in his features.
there was no divorce, and the funds were split almost equally: 7000 simoleons went to Claretta, while Timerius used his 6000 simoleons to move into a very modest house and start a Business career. I have to mind the 1000 salary cap though, and he'll probably have to do something on the side to achieve his life goal. the extra money will all be sent to his family, obviously. now that he lives alone, he is happier overall but misses Claretta dearly. all his wants and fears are about her. does he miss his children? eh, probably.
I am starting to really get into this pseudoroman architecture. simple to build and adapt to whatever purpose I have in mind. please ignore the ugly modern mailbox.

Circulus, year 2: summer
very little to report here. Timerius is painting (7,985 → 11,892). Zoe has botched ALL materials and made absolutely no fabric bolts, so the shop is inactive. at least she tries to help with the children, but come on, woman, you're almost 70 (130+ sim days), it's time to go. speaking of children, we have Candida now, and there's another baby coming. Candida has her mom's funny eyes.
I admit, I had to cheat a couple of times because of this hell trio.

Circulus, year 2: spring
this spring has brought both tragedy and happiness for the Circulus household.
Zoe has not been very successful in crafting: accidents are happening more and more recently, so they weren't able to open shop yet. most of the money earned this spring were Timerius' paintings (7,517 → 7,985).
I really didn't think they would get rid of their servant, Taiga, but she got a death roll that coincided with yet another ram "wandering away", and so it was decided their misfortunes were all Taiga's fault. Taiga was executed in the Colosseum (couldn't find anything better than this lion!). since the Colosseum has now been officially constructed, there remain 39,000 simoleons in the treasury (-106,700).
Taiga's death has affected Antheia the most. poor nice girl grew up unhappy and wanted to defeat Grim because of this terrible event she had witnessed. Antheia is actually very nice looking, but she was already rolled not to marry, so she will be a spare in case anything else happens.
weirdly enough, things got better right after the execution. the remaining ewe gave birth to two lambs right in time for the Parilia. who would have known Claretta would also give birth to two boys?
they were named Aetius (lighter hair) and Aelius (darker hair). both are supposed to live long lives, but who will be the heir? Aelius is technically the eldest, and he has a more balanced personality. Aetius is going to be a serious meanie. both look adorable as they are, so I don't even want to change their hairstyles yet.

Circulus, year 1: fall
for the Circulus family, this was the season for marriages. first, the second eldest daughter, Mila, got married to Fabius Lepidus, a townie I determined to be of Plebeian class.
a better look at him:
nothing out of the ordinary, but he and Mila liked each other from the first glance and she had to get married as soon as possible anyway. they will now form their own Lepidus family for the spring rotation.
since Timerius was now a full adult and the head of the house, he also needed to find a spouse. since I fully randomize the sims I create and add to families, Claretta was... not the perfect choice. it was very difficult for them to learn to get along (one moment, they have one bolt of chemistry, and the next they have a crossed out bolt), but the marriage was already arranged. Claretta is Serious and Active, just like Timerius, and she is a Knowledge sim while he is a Fortune sim, so I can't think of any explanations as to why it was so difficult. everything worked out in the end. Zoe was pissed off at them occupying the only double bed in the house, and Taiga was probably just very surprised. unfortunately, their first baby wasn't meant to be.
grown-up Timerius and Claretta, closer.
the home business has also finally started normally. it was time to shear the sheep. when it came to dyeing the fabric, everyone was glad they didn't get rid of Taiga: she was the only one with 3 points of Logic required to use the dyeing vat (oops, clipping).
funds 7,120 → 7,517. Claretta has brought a dowry of 1,000 simoleons, and they have made some profit from the shop, but there were also some expenses. idk what to do with Antheia. she isn't supposed to get married, so maybe I'll make her join the Vestals.

next is the family of patricians, Circulus (previously Krug - circle in Russian). they started out as a family of hunters, but somehow most of them ended up being Knowledge sims.
Zoe is the current matriarch of the family, so to speak. Knowledge sim, Outgoing, Active and Serious. loves music and is generally cool. the rest are all her children.
Mila is her second eldest daughter, if I remember correctly. she's almost an adult. Knowledge sim, Active, Serious and Nice, loves sport. not very skilled.
Hota is a Knowledge sim as well, Nice, Neat and Outgoing. she had some weird phases like wanting to become a werewolf, and from the looks of it, she's also going to join the Vestals. well, fewer girls to marry off.
Timerius, who is in his very early teens. Fortune sim, personality like his mother, loves fitness. he's the heir, but he's way too young to be considered head of the family. was named Silok ("snare") during the prehistoric era. I don't remember where his new name even came from, all I know is it's not proper Roman, but it sounds cool, so I'll keep it.
Antheia. Neat, Outgoing, Nice and Lazy. loves cuisine. she's a cutie.
they are going to have sheep! nothing to move out of the peristyle this time, because they have a different house layout.
