“Hm, how tragic.” A nudge from the dragon’s foot turned the man’s body over, allowing Zhifeng to inspect it.

A foamy substance nearly obscured the corpse’s now purple lips from view, which only added to the near-comically bulging eyes fixed unseeingly above. The poison had done its work in cutting off the man’s vital organs one by one until he had been left pitifully clawing at the air for a relief that only came with death. Humans were so fragile, so easily manipulated-- some flirtatious conversations, a few strays touched, and the man had been hooked. Willing to sign over whatever the dragon had asked of him in return for their attentions. After that? A single kiss was all that it took to put the poor creature out of its misery.

Plucking the man’s handkerchief from his pocket, a few swipes removed the poison-laced lipstick from Zhifeng’s lips. Letting the color-smeared fabric drift back down to rest on the man’s body, they reached for a folded piece of paper, the real treasure from this transaction, and strode towards the door. 

“Mission accomplished, of course.” Zhifeng stated as they pushed open the door to the room, as if there had been any doubt in their ability to succeed. Just outside stood their partner in crime, and Zhifeng unfolded the piece of paper to delicately tap at the man’s signature resting at the bottom of the document.

“Signed and conveying all of his business interests, finances, and property to our various accounts. Backdated, of course, so as not to arouse suspicion.” Even his presence in the village had been a secret-- the man had been convinced to tell his wife that he had gone on some moderately dangerous excursion to some fairly remote locale. And of course the idiot had agreed, why else would he tell his wife where-- or who, to be more specific-- he was truly going to visit?

“I feel like taking a nap.” Zhifeng handed the paper to Altyn as they passed. “I’ll inform the usuals to take care of the body.”
