In addition to hot tea, it also makes a lovely iced tea that imparts a cranberry-like flavor and gorgeous red coloring. High in antioxidants and vitamin C. It has a variety of medicinal uses, so it is advisable to read up on its full effects before consuming. . The calyces can be used fresh, frozen or dried. . Likes full sun, and moderate water. Grows to about 3-8’. . It’s said to be winter-hardy in zone 9 (we are 9b), but can experience frost and freeze damage. Tonight we’re having a super healthy and delicious Thanksgiving dinner - herb-seasoned turkey breast; root vegetable mash; roasted acorn squash with wild rice, green lentils and veggies; and a cold ancient grains (farro, quinoa and freekeh) salad with herbs and crunchy cucumber and pomegranate seeds. My contribution was a faked-out “Florida Cranberry Sauce” with no cranberries but hibiscus roselles, green apple, and fresh citrus juices and zests. Everything was really delicious!
