Things Rhys said or did that screamed sus day 5
Becomes Amarantha’s pet to “save Velaris”...
Sacrificing the continent for one city.
Then gives that city up at the first possible opportunity to save the continent
Let’s get this straight:
Rhys sacrifices himself for 49 years to keep Velaris hidden and safe.
Claims it was the only option. Like, sorry Prythian, guess the rest of the continent gotta suffer as long as Velaris stays untouched.
Whole-ass war, people enslaved, murdered, territories falling—and he just sits pretty playing Amarantha’s puppet to protect his one city.
But then suddenly, in ACOMAF: “Oh no, Hybern’s coming 😔 gotta open the gates and bring Velaris into it now.” Like. Bro. YOU made this moral trade for half a century, and now you’re just done?
So when it was your guilt on the line, Velaris came first. But when you have to play the hero of the ady—you sacrificed Velaris without blinking.
So which is it? Did you really protect Velaris for the greater good—or was it always just about your pride?
The math’s not mathing. The logic’s not logic-ing. It’s giving: self-serving all along.

Things Rhys said or did that screamed sus day 4
So you're mad at Tamlin… but let's talk about you, Rhys.
Rhys is furious at Tamlin for not rescuing Feyre UTM.
Says he just sat there on his ass while she suffered. Which, okay—valid if you didn’t do the exact same thing… but worse.
Let’s run the facts:
Tamlin had been there for a few weeks, watched constantly (things rhys's himself admited it), barely allowed to look at Feyre
Rhys had been there for forty-nine years, he knows every tunnel, every hidden path there
Had power, freedom, and access more than tamlin
Was literally with Feyre constantly and he still didn't get her out?? so what's your excuse??
He had more chances. More knowledge. More tools. And yet.
He didn’t even try.
But suddenly when everything over and everyone’s traumatized, now it’s Tamlin’s fault? Like… you were the one who painted Feyre up and paraded her around like a prize while she was dying inside. Let’s not forget that.
Being mad at Tamlin was convenient. Being mad at yourself? That would've meant accountability.

Things Rhys said or did that screamed SUS Day 2
Why did he even give Amarantha a name?
Let’s talk about Clare Beddor. Because the math ain't mathin'.
Rhys made Tamlin beg for a promise not to tell Amarantha about Feyre. Rhys agreed. Then next thing you know—boom, a human girl gets dragged out, tortured, and killed. And guess what? Not Feyre.
And here’s the kicker:
He was in Feyre’s head. He knew she lied.
She literally thought: “I thought of our neighbor Clare”—like, that was the moment. So if he was really in her head like he says he was… how did he miss that? How did he not know she gave a fake name belong to a real girl!!
Also how did he not know her real name? Wasn't he the mind-reading master?
He knew Clare was a real girl gave her up anyway
he broke his promise to tamlin even after mading him beg (oooooh how much i do hate that)

Things Rhys said or did that screamed SUS Day 1
Why didn’t he know who Feyre was at Calanmai or why she was there?
He knew Tamlin's curse inside out. He knew the deadline was coming. And there’s a human girl in the Spring Court, running around, weeks before it all goes down…
And he just didn’t know she was there as the girl who's supposed to love tamlin and break the curse?? Really?

Things Rhys said or did that screamed SUS Day 3
Who the hell was that nameless daemati??
Rhys just casually mentions some powerful daemati helped murder the children of winter.
Like—what?? We’re just supposed to accept that? No name, no face, no backstory, no consequences??
You mean to tell me that:
There was another daemati roaming around—aligned with Amarantha
Strong enough to help with a targeted mind game & murder
And Rhys never mentions them again??? In a war where mind powers were literally game-changing?
WHERE WERE THEY BEEN?
Did they just pull up for one psychic drive-by and vanish into the ether?
Did Rhys kill them after? Are they still out there?
Do they really exist!! Other daemeti but Rhysand?
Because if they are, that’s a massive security threat. And if they’re not, then Rhys owes both Kallias and us a story.
But nope. He just brushes it off like, “Oh, that? Don’t worry about it.”
Oh no darling, Kallias worried, I’m worried. You should be too.

Yes. Yes. This is so obvious, but people ignore it, Yes.
Out of everyone of Prythian and the HL's, Rhysand is the one that held the most power, freedom, and access to information due to his 'strategic' allegiance to Amarantha to the point of having everyone fooled of his 'villainous mask' and yet what does he done during those 50 years? Because Tamlin was trying to protect his court, and killing beasts and openly defying Amarantha to the point of being punished and had to send his men out to sacrifice themselves so a human he'd have to have fall in love with him. And even then, Tamlin stopped because it got too much and just wanted to keep his people safe than have them pointlessly die until all his options were exhausted...and...what was Rhysand doing? Sabotaging Tamlin during this instrumental time that could have changed everything. Guaranteeing a HL with their full powers back - Tamlin, beastly and warrior Tamlin, would have had his HL powers fully restored sooner. And amped up from his absolute hatred of Amarantha as we've seen, he would have found a way to defeat her just as he killed mere minutes after being magically unshackled.
Rhysand didnt aid in the rebellion prior the books, he participated in killing of the winter children (sorry, that wasn't him - it was the still unknown and un-named daemati thats never been mentioned since when the Hybern Twins would have been the perfect scapegoats at least, but nope), getting a human killed because he couldn't keep his damn mouth shut even if he did think Feyre was lying about the name she gave for herself and THEN...bringing more attention to her UTM which he knew and even stated explicitly that Tamlin couldn't help if he wanted to because he was being WATCHED!
But yeah, sure, focus on how Tamlin did absolutely nothing for anyone while this prick kept Prythian's so-called most powerful Illyrians ever with their seven siphons and an otherworldly creature hidden to protect a single city that was not know to anyone in the first place for 5 thousand years. Yeah, this dude is so smart, suave, and politically savvy 🙄😒.
When I say I wasn't even that much of a Tamlin fan when originally reading, but then to see the absolute crap that was being done and said about him in order to frame Rhysand as the better choice literally gobsmacked me. The blatant distortion of events, both past and present, irritated me beyond belief. The manipulation of readers' comprehension by suddenly changing the MC's outlook to fit an obvious new narrative was so insincere. Made worse when it just shows that Feyre lacks any ability to think for herself unless it's being fed to her by a person she now views as more worthy and powerful with a direct correlation in how much they give her what she wants when she wants. Something Tamlin was unable to do, thus, he's the villain that did nothing while Rhysand becomes the hero that did everything, even the distasteful things because he "had no choice" and he's so misunderstood.
There's no nuance in behaviour, but just plain black and white thinking dependant on what SJM approves, even if they come across hypocritical and display preferential treatment at a nauseating degree.
Sorry for the rant. This specific argument irks me every time.
