RQG - Fandom

How are we feeling, folks? I’m fine, stop asking.

Tomorrow’s the day. We finish the Campaign.

I’ve only been part of this fandom for a few small weeks and already I cannot imagine my days without regular interactions with you over discord.

@mx-vin thank you so much for creating the CTL server. It has quickly become so much more to me than “just” a fandom discord.

@phenomenice thank you for putting so much work into the fandom and being such a fount of Rusty Quill knowledge and advise.

@the-line-is-erased thank you (to all mods) for organising these prompts and getting the fandom hyped up during the final week.

Hikari Rates Her Top 5 Fishing Spots in Eorzea

Oh now I have to think about the difference between HER favorite spots and my own.... AND I can't pick any that are outside of eorzea... I might break that rule. anyway, in no particular order:

1. The Lavender Beds. It's right outside her house! She can fish from her yard! And aoi is there!

2. I think it's called the Trivium? In the Crystarium. It's dark and full of plants and sometimes Ryne is there.

3. The lake at the Dotharl camp. She likes fishing for the feisty little guy in there, and the Steppe reminds her of home. Plus she's friends with Sadu.

4. The Isle of Ken. It's a lonely little island in a pretty location AND you can climb to the top of the horn and fish from really high up.

5. Prism Lake. The water is really pretty and it also reminds her of home (she grew up on the border of Yanxia and the Steppe) and the Warden is pretty and all the fish are so colorful and you can fish from so high up also!

When talking about her interests, would Hikari be more like the enthusiastic and talkative type, or would she be closer to the calm and reserved type?

She would be EXTREMELY enthusiastic. I don't think that girl has a calm bone in her body. If you talked to her about fishing while she was fishing she would maintain a low voice but it would be so obvious she was trying very hard not to get overly loud and scare the fish. She would be vibrating.

Thinking about it now, it might seem out of character since the picture I commissioned of her is so serene and she's just sitting under a tree doing nothing, but the concept for that piece was "she has never been more depressed in her life". When she's feeling okay, she's a bright little ray of sunshine.

When it comes to your OCs in Final Fantasy, do you feel that they share the same universe as other people's FF OCs by default?

Or is it more like each one exists in their own individual branch off of the main FF "source", unless otherwise explicitly indicated?

I always see it as a fucked up mishmash of canon best explained as 'don't question it.' Hikari is friends with other people's ocs, but the details of their being the Warrior of Light are ignored as long as they're not relevant to her. Her friend jeim the bunny boy may be the hero destined to save the world, but she just knows him as a cheery guy from the forest who's good in a fight and likes to fish, and as long as she doesn't question that, it doesn't matter! If your timeline of events differs dramatically from hikari's, it's glossed over and specific events are replaced with Generic Wars Or Some Shit.

Now as far as how my OWN ocs interact with canon between them, Aoi isn't the Warrior of Light in her canon. She's just hikari's friend who helped her out through stormblood, but she wasn't isekaid for shadowbringers, and while she helped out in the early bits of endwalker, she decided to spend the final days with her family. Now that the crisis has been averted, their paths will merge once again, because aoi would really love to go to the new world with her. So for these two it's less merging and more butchering the game's storyline to fit aoi into hikari's canon, which is more or less aligned with the game's intended story.
