Kiyoi

There is something about the way Kiyoi has always been independent, aggressive, and often following the "I don't need anyone" archetype . This shows that he doesn't know what healthy relationships look like or why they matter. He never had anyone he felt he could rely on. He did not even want his friends to know what his dream was or that he took the idol thing seriously. He did not have anyone he thought would be his support if he failed and most likely assumed he would lose the artificial friendships that he did have if he showed his real self to them. His whole demeaner screams lonely, hurt, and scared.

Kiyoi has always been so sure that nobody is around him for any reason other than to use him. He does not think anyone takes him seriously. He doesn't trust that anyone could ever be sincere. That is why when Hira comes into the picture, he doesn't trust him. He seems to see it as a way to go from being used to using someone. He never truly accepted that Hira truly just wanted to be around him because of him. This is most likely why they parted ways like they did.

This has been on my mind because of the development we see later on. It becomes even more clear that Kiyoi does not want to be aggressive or the one to make the choice. He has always wanted someone to prove they take him seriously, that they want him, that they love him unconditionally.

We see Kiyoi struggle to open up and communicate and how hard it is for him. We see his tendency to flee when he is scared or hurt. We see there communication suffer because of misunderstandings. But most of all we see them fight for each other even well fighting against each other.

This leads me into the bathtub scene. Kiyoi is no longer this mean aggressive man that we once saw but instead someone who is quietly asking Hira to give him more physical attention. This is a big deal because we start out with him physically throwing Hira to the ground but now we are here.

I am leaving so so so so much out but this show really took over my brain and I don't have anyone to talk to about it. Its been a while since I watched it and these scenes still live rent free in my head.

Can we collectively appreciate the friendships in My Beautiful Man - Eternal. Like? Kiyoi was worried about Anna, not his own career. Hira never felt threatened by her and even went out of his way to help her. Hira’s boss? Kiyoi’s managers? It warms my heart when the protagonists are sincerely good to the people around them, and the people pay it back. Love to see it.

Honestly I don’t think I have ever seen a show that understands it’s characters as much as my beautiful man does. I also think that’s precisely why season 2 was just as good as the first one which is something that many bl’s can’t do.

In the last episode of season 1 Kiyoi still ran away from Hira before their final resolution. And while in the third ep it looked like he is still doing the same, this episode shows just how much he grew. He is a sulky person and that didn’t change he just now knows how to handle it. He knows how to handle the situation and Hira which is something we have been seeing throughout this whole season. He was honestly my favourite.

And then we have Hira and honestly even with how much he frustrated me this season I can’t help but just absolutely adore him. Why? BECAUSE THE SHOW KNOWS IT’S CHARACTERS. It understands his flaws but most importantly the reasoning behind it. The last episode just showed that. While it may look like Hira hasn’t changed much he’s slowly getting there. Maybe slower then the people around him (like the people in the reunion) but that doesn’t matter especially for Kiyoi. He is actually explaining his reasoning and thought process and allows himself to be vulnerable towards Kiyoi. Also the things that the photographer mentions about Hira are so interesting and explains his character quite well. But damn the man really psychoanalysed my dude…

Finally, Hira and Kiyoi’s relationship is what makes this show so great. Kiyoi really knows Hira so well. He has a deep understanding of him which is something Hira really needs. Someone who understands him and they way he is. Sure Kiyoi gets mad at him (rightfully) but he always comes back and tries to talk it out and understand Hira. They’re slowly getting there but their dynamic doesn’t change and it never will. Which it doesn’t need to. I think the last episode showed how their dynamic (with lots of communication and understanding) can really work

This post is a mess and I do not have enough understanding in English to explain just how well this show and its characters are written. This will always be one of my favourite shows. Writers, I love you all and I never doubted you (that’s a lie I definitely was worried)

I loved this scene so much. It's obvious from the interaction that Hira has re-watched the bts of Kiyois film enough times that coming home to Hira with it on isn't weird, and Hira's emotional reaction to watching it is also common. Kiyoi is so gentle when he says "if you're going to cry, don't watch it." that I was surprised, the words themselves aren't unexpected but if I had seen just a picture of this moment and not heard the audio along with it, i would have expected him to sound more berating and annoyed. Instead he's comforting Hira.

Then Hira says this, and Kiyoi doesn't even really react, just let's the statement settle. Compared to season one, when he would have scoffed or called Hira "gross", he now understands how deeply Hira feels about everything to do with Kiyoi. Hira being effected by a short film segment might seem silly on the surface to others, but Kiyoi himself can see the absolute sincerity in Hira's words and emotions, and he doesn't belittle that in these important moments.

there were so many instances where kiyoi could have ruffled hira's hair and told him to go back to his regular style because of jealousy but he didn't. his boyfriend is hot and even if it's inconvenient sometimes, he will flaunt him!
