Trafalgar Tavern. A couple of days ago I went Ceroc dancing at the Trafalgar Tavern, Greenwich. An amazing tavern with impressive rooms upstairs to dance in. Also a great location, right on the riverfont and by the Old Naval College that used to be Greenwich Hospital. It was built in 1837 when Queen Victoria came to the throne, and it was frequented by Charles Dickens, who used the location of the wedding feast in 'Our Mutual Friends'. Right at the heart of maritime Greenwich, it must have hosted and witnessed lots of interesting events. And there was a drinking establishment here well before 1837 with fisherman and seafarers frequenting the river front Inn that was called the Old George Inn. I have walked past the bust of Nelson outside a number of times and had a drink in the downstairs bar. But it was the first time I've explored the whole Tavern that is expansive with rooms on a grand scale. Big rooms, chandeliers, busts of Nelson, other people of the Georgian and Victorian era, and countless paintings of Nelson and maritime Greenwich. Even in the gents loo, one of the best I've been in (last piccie!). And what a venue to dance in. Was thinking it would be the ideal location for a masked ball! #trafalgartavern #Greenwich #historicgreenwich #ceroc #ceroclondon #cerocgreenwich #Nelson #victorianlondon (at Trafalgar Tavern) https://www.instagram.com/p/CnAwcw3DCvx/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
