spent my afternoon working on next weeks seminar prep for my favourite module instead of doing coursework that’s due in tomorrow. i will now be spending my night in the library getting that done :( ft a photo from my visit to York this weekend!

An ode to Feb - I feel as if I am constantly chasing after the next deadline, somehow always feeling behind. Still, when I look at my calendar, I am genuinely not behind, but I'm slightly ahead of schedule (alhamdulillah). I am afraid of my past self, who was the worst academic procrastinator. (i still procrastinate on a lot of other things... like I should be asleep rn because I have an early class)

I realize the city emotionally and energetically drains me as I learn the older I get, the more I crave to stay in the suburbs, where my work and other enjoyable parts of life-- the mosque, library, parks, coffee shops, grocery store, family and friends are close by, and I can't wait for when its April and I get to spend four months not having to go into the city until the new school year begins. I’m wishing you the best end to the winter season and semester. - from م

Vent post

Not related to anything on here but I just really hate it when someone tries to lecture me on things that I spent years studying in college. Like bro, I have a degree in history, I do not need you “explaining” certain things to me like I don’t have a whole ass degree in said subject 🙄 Especially when I know that person has never studied the subject and they just read an article on the internet and now they think they know everything

History doctorate

I know this is a weird place to post it, but does anybody here have a history doctorate or know how to get there? I know what the prescribed path is but just looking for your experiences, if anybody has any.

Me and history share a love-hate relationship

So excited to go back to school this fall. I’m taking so many cool classes. I just wanna go to school like right now. I’m taking like two different history classes, a mythology class, American lit, and the one I’m so so so excited for is Ancient Greek as my foreign language!!!! I’m so pumped. I have such a good set of first semester classes to get back into going to college and I just can’t wait to get into them. I need these next two months to hurry up

Apparently for my history degree I'll have to write a 40 page thesis for my senior project and although I'm more than a few years away from having to do that assignment I'm already thinking about ideas for the thesis
