I know I just KNOW Drew would only be "allowed" to do contests for 1 year as a way to get it out of his system. But since he did so well, and if he REALLY wanted it, he'd have to be better the following year. It's only worth doing if you're a uniquely young prodigy, otherwise stop messing around and get started on an actually beneficial career.

If (and it's not confirmed at all, he might retire as well), newey going to ferrari lewis is rather cherry on the cake than the cake itself.

It was said that he(newey) wanted to focus on the hypercar project at first. Also, it was said that he rejected AM mostly because of multiple years they wanted him to sign. And he rejected merc because merc is shitbox of a car now. If lewis stayed in merc, no way in hell newey joined this them (i might admit that he also less likely joined ferrari in that case as well and might go to am or retire). Once again, IF he joins ferrari, most likely it gonna be because of a combination of multiple projects he can work with (and suitable bases to work with, becauseaerodynamiccan do this much) + money + light/suitable contract + probably some fine retirement plan+ its ferrari and only than + we got hamilton. Stop acting like lewis himself already brought newey to the team.

again i am questioning how much of this is actually directed at me, because i agree with you entirely! i think it’s definitely a lewis+ferrari combination (2/3 of his “regrets”), not JUST lewis, as well as all of the other considerations. this could be in response to me paraphrasing it as “lewis draws in newey (possibly)” in my original post, but i don’t really have anything else to add here b/c i agree
