Deirdre loved this coffee shop. It was her favourite spot in town where she could escape May’s little life for a while and feel like she was her own person. Mortis knew this and it made her blood boil to see him sitting there, in her usual seat.

“The only thing I’ll crush, demon,” she snarled. “Is every bone in your spine if you don’t move.”

All she wanted was to move on. Go off and make a life for herself. Instead, her demons, or disapproving fallen angel, was there to greet her. Just the sound of his voice brought a chill to her spine, though she sought her refuge in drinking the last of her wine.

"We should," she answered harshly as her glass sat back on the bar. "It never ends well... but I think we just enjoy punishing ourselves meeting like this..."

Natalie fumbled at her locker, keeping her head down low to avoid any unnecessary attention. She was just at the end of highschool, just a few short months and she was out of here, out of a small town with small minds, and to a college in a big city where people didn't know her deadname. It would be amazing.

She slammed her locker a bit loudly and turned back to head to the lunchroom from when she ran head smack into a guy.

"Ouch- I'm so sorry!" Natalie blushed and scooped up her lunch bag. "I didn't... see you there. Hi."

Natalie hadn't meant to fall asleep during the movie. It was just kinda cozy, all cuddled up on the couch, and she was tired after chasing down that darn banshee.

She only woke up when she felt herself being lifted up. "Hmm? Is the movie over?" she mumbled, her eyes finally flickering open when they got back to the bedroom.

Mortis laid her down so gently before laying down next to her. For a second Natalie's heart skipped a beat. Was he going to take their relationship to the next level? Was she ready? Was he really okay with... her?

But he didn't. He just laid next to her, his hand stroking her hair and lulling her back to sleep.

It was so nice to be able to trust someone.

Natalie grinned, knowing her cheeks were turning more than a little pink. "I'd love to, Mortis. Give me ten minutes, I'll be ready to go." It wasn't like she'd done any heavy lifting that day, but she wanted to look her best!
