The Princess Royal, President, Riding for the Disabled Association, today attended the Clwyd Special Riding Centre's Fortieth Anniversary Charity Raceday at Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse and was received by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Clwyd (Mr. Henry Fetherstonhaugh).

Her Royal Highness, Patron, this evening held a Dinner at the Palace of Holyroodhouse for the Royal Celtic Society on the occasion of its Two Hundredth Anniversary.

The Royal Mile is part of a series of streets forming a steep thoroughfare in the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town. Here we see the John Knox House which is considered to be the home or the “Rebel Abode" of the infamous religious reformer John Knox”. Holyrood Palace is the official residence of the reigning monarch when he or she is visiting Scotland. A new community garden opened in 2020 with three distinct areas each representing a stage in the palace's 900-year history ....

Story time !

The Kirk of the Canongate (or Canongate Kirk) in Edinburgh is the official church of the Palace of Holyrood House and Edinburgh Castle and indeed, the Queen is attending service there whenever she's in Edinburgh during the summer.

But, did you know that this church has been ordered to be build by King James VII (II of England) in 1688, finished in 1691. The master mason in charge was James Smith. Before 1688, residents of the Canongate used the Abbey Church (Holyrood Abbey), James VII wanted to convert the Abbey to a Chapel for The Order of the Thistle (which he also re-established in Scotland) and so the Canongate Kirk was born.

You can see the coat of arms of James VII above the door.

I've visited the church back in 2017 (which was a total accident, thanks Amy for deciding that we had to walk up the Royal Mile) and i would definitely visit it again, even if it's just to make better photo's.

Holyrood Palace

Holyrood Palace is located in Edinburgh, Scotland. Built in the 17thcentury, the royal palace has a quadrangle design that is three stories tall in some areas and two stories in others. The palace sits on ten acres and has been extended and renovated several times. The palace has Doric columns and an octagonal cupola with a clock. The ruins of an abbey church connect to the palace on the northeast corner. The colonnaded piazza has nine arches, and pilasters. Classical orders of architecture were used in designing the palace with the Ionic order used in the state apartments and the Doric order used for the ground floor. Some of the areas in the palace are open to the public; except when the royal family is in residence. Queen Elizabeth usually spends a week at the palace every summer. The palace served as the main residence for the King and Queens of Scotland since the 16thcentury. The palace has a long history and still remains a site for state occasions and official entertaining. Holyrood Palace boasts plaster angels holding the Honors of Scotland, 16thcentury frescoes, the King’s apartments, the Great Gallery with portraits displaying the Scottish monarchs, and much more. The 16thcentury garden has a sundial, a fountain, and a garden building known as Queen Mary’s Bath House, although it wasn’t used for bathing. The palace is the property of the Crown but is maintained by Scottish Ministers.

3️⃣3️⃣ today!!! Happy Birthdayyyyy to meeeeee 🎈🎈🎈... I am beyond grateful to the man upstairs that allowed this day to come. This past year has been a humbling one. To being told my Grandmother was on end of life care was a real wake up call and a roller coaster of emotions to say the least. I almost forgot who I was and what I am capable of.
