Jenny & Matt’s beautifully renovated home in Brooklyn, New York is now contemporary, but retains a lot of the original architectural features.

I absolutely love the red painted front door.

The house had lots of fireplaces, so when they knocked down walls to open up the space, they kept all the fireplaces and now have 2 in the main room.

Quirky little things adorn the mantels. 

Taking down the wall to create an open concept living room/kitchen/dining room exposed the two fireplaces, so they decided to locate the kitchen between them.

On one side is the living room, and on the other is the dining room. Love the mismatched chairs. 

The couple has family in Guatemala and friends in Iceland, Peru, India and Mexico. They fly to visit them and bring back items they love. Every item is welcomed and assimilated into the kaleidoscope of books, flower pots, drink bottles and things that make this house happy.

Each bedroom has a wonderful old fireplace and creative decorative touches.

The bright, happy nursery. 

There’s small deck with stairs leading down to the yard.

They make the most of their small yard with a garden, dining area, hammock and even a sandbox.
