Colorful, art-filled 1973 home in West Bloomfield, MI has 3bds, 3ba, 3,980sqft, $599k + $15/mo HOA.
Even without all the artwork, I think that this house would still be colorful and ready to decorate.
It has a nice fireplace.
Does it have sort of a tropical vibe? This very cheerful.
It's an open concept main living area with sliders to the garden.
I'm not sure where this wall is, but I like it.
Interesting wall with a window into the kitchen.
The kitchen is a sleek, classic MCM with a black floor, original cabinetry and black counters.
Now, up on the 2nd level we have the bedrooms.
This must be the primary bedroom.
It's so full of art and color, that I'm getting confused. This must be bd. #2.
Modern black bath with glass block.
This bedroom has an ensuite.
So much art, it's hard to even notice you're in a bathroom.
Then, we have a family room.
The 3rd bath. At first glance, I thought there was something furry in the sink.
The gardens are incredible for Michigan b/c they get very cold winters.
It's gorgeous, but like where I live, there's so little time to enjoy it.
There's art throughout the grounds.
There are lots of paths to walk.
0.4 acre lot. I wonder if they'll leave the outdoor art.

What a great price for "The Castle on the Glen," a beautiful 1927 English Tudor in Elmira, NY. 3bds, 3ba, 1,760sqft, $295k. So, there are all the standard real estate listing photos on Zillow, but I found it on Airbnb, all decorated w/a castle theme for short term vac. rentals, so I'm posting some of the photos of how they had it decorated.
The living room and fireplace.
Chess area in front of the fireplace and a piano by the stairs.
Reading corner.
Little jousters.
The dining room has a beamed archway, wainscoting, and a plate ledge.
A typically Tudor kitchen with tiled counters. The cabinets are painted white, but could've more likely have been knotty pine.
Small half bath on the main floor.
Stairs in the living room.
Going up the stairs, that may be a key lock box.
Up on the 2nd level and the typically thick Tudor style railing.
Here in the turret area, they had vintage dress-up costumes.
Chainmail shirt and knight gloves.
Every castle has to have a crown.
This is known as "The Red Room."
The "Purple Room."
And, "The Blue Room."
Amenities in the full bath.
Large basement with a headless flapper.
Lovely footbridge.
Metal bistro set outside overlooking the "moat." (It's actually a stream.)
Nice large deck on the garage roof.
Fairy gardens on the .36 acre grounds.

This 1977 brick house in Hartford, CT may look like an ordinary suburban home, but it lets you know that it isn't.
It's not like your average mid-century- you can tell by the renovated entrance hall, here. 3bds, 3ba, 2,338sqft, $320k. Take a look at this completely remodeled home.
As we saw, the double doors open to this very different entrance hall. (I hate when they put gray w/the old beige flooring,
So, they put tile up on the walls, painted the stairs black, and painted the railing, removed the spindles and installed wire.
Coming up to the living/dining room. The railing wires are so crooked.
Oh, no, they did not paint the tiles turquoise. Isn't that going to chip?
The kitchen's a little weird- what's up w/the fireplace in the corner? I see that they installed a wine cooler. So, this dark middle section must be the original tile.
Something's kind of off, here. The fireplace doesn't seem to fit in.
This is very confusing. So, they painted the cabinets black and installed pot lights in the soffit.
The primary bedroom is directly off the dining area.
Remodeled bath now includes a bidet and a modern sink.
This room with double doors is also off the main living area. Did they take down some walls and put up new ones? Could this be a family room?
Another remodeled bath. Looks like all the baths got bidets.
The bedroom has an optical illusion mural.
Back down on the ground floor, we have a half bath. The mirror gives the illusion of infinite jingly bell lights. Whoever installed the sink didn't line up the pedestal correctly, though.
And, here's your rec room complete with fireplace, mirrored ceiling, pool table and hot tub.
They were right, this house is not like the others.
There's also a laundry room down here. I hope that's not mold.
Utility room. Hmm.
Yard with a deck and 2 patios on a 5,227.2sqft lot.

Submitted by cholgamer- death stairs in a home they were staging. Look at where the railing is. Maybe it's aesthetically undesirable to bring it down to the bottom?

The 1912 Grace Phillips Johnson Mansion in New Castle, PA is an example of a beautiful eclectic historic home. 11bds, 6ba, 9,537sqft, $688k (it's a bargain).
Enter the large main hall and there's one of 16 fireplaces. Lovely wainscoting, crown moldings, and original stairs.
The huge sitting room has ceiling beams, a chandelier, and a triple sized window seat. On the far end of the room there's a fireplace with shelving that wraps around 4 walls.
An actual small foyer opens to a sunroom that would make the perfect conservatory.
The spacious dining room has wainscoting, 2 built-ins, and a fireplace.
Very large kitchen with nice cabinets and chef's appliances.
It looks like the stained glass window in that door came from church architectural salvage. Wow, it's life-size.
The family room has a wonderful stone fireplace and cabinets. This home can be stunning with the right decor.
And, look at this- a genuine marble library. Or, it could be like a museum for a collection. Even this room has a fireplace.
Look at how interesting this is- a booth in the main hall. (You could sell tickets to your private museum downstairs.)
The upstairs hall is so wide.
There's a bed in here, but I don't think it's a bedroom. It looks like a sunroom.
Look at the unusual fireplace, flat against the wall. The room's an interesting shape, has a large window seat and decorated ceilings.
The bedrooms are all very large and each of the 16 fireplaces is different.
One of 6 vintage baths. Look at how big it is.
Most of the 11 bedrooms are not used as bedrooms. Look at the fireplace in this one. A sun porch is directly off this room, so it would be delightful as a bedroom.
It would make a nice studio and even has a nice big closet for supplies.
I don't think I've ever seen such wide halls in a house.
Bedroom with yet another different style fireplace.
This bedroom has its own ensuite.
Outside there's a covered patio with a pavilion constructed of stone.
This looks like it was a greenhouse at one time, but all that's left is the rusty metal frame.
1.34 acre lot. And, there's also a 2 story carriage house on the property.

Holy Shit! My 1920 art carriage house in New York City, NY hasn't sold. The 5bd, 6ba 6,600sqft is pricey, $28m, but includes all the furnishings, all the art, and the Rolls Royce!
Now, when we look at this house, we have to look at everything, b/c it's all included. Isn't this a fabulous living room? Wow, the huge paintings, leather sofas, sculptures, even the books on the table. Plus, I love that big glass window.
Nice tile flooring. The art pieces alone must be worth a fortune, and that carved bench. I don't usually care for tapestry, but that one has cherubs. Love cherubs.
This home is relatively narrow, so it has lots of levels. The legs on this bench look gnarly.
The raven is very cool. The kitchen is an awkward setup. It looks more like a hall than a kitchen. Look at the big pots on the top shelf. For this kind of money, I don't really care for it, it's like an apt. kitchen.
The dining area is nice, though.
Doors to the patio on the stair landing.
This is nice, and it looks very private.
Then up here, they have a pool table.
It looks like the primary bedroom takes up most of this floor. Look at the huge fireplace.
Even the bathroom is filled with art.
This bedroom has a large fireplace. It's spacious, too.
In addition to the patio, there's a beautiful rooftop deck.
The home also features a sauna.
Pull the Rolls into the garage and it looks like there's a rec room down here, also filled with art. You see up to the next level, too.

Check out "Hume Cloister," a 1929 Gothic Revival Mansion in Berkely, CA. 6bds, 8ba, 7.526sqft, $7.45m. It looked Mediterranean to me, on the outside, but it's definitely gothic on the inside.
Look at the loggia. Now, that's gothic architecture. It's modeled after a 13th-century French monastery.
This looks more like a gothic castle than anything we've seen lately.
Enter a large foyer. The home has been restored over the last 7yrs., and they did an excellent job.
The main sitting room is 2 stories high w/a mezzanine.
This house is all stone, wood, and gothic arches.
The mezzanine has that big arch fitted with wrought iron.
Behind it they have an office area, but it looks messy thru the scrollwork.
Look at this interesting lamp. The house is a combination of Gothic and very modern.
The dining room has an intricately carved built-in.
The kitchen is very big. Look at the Gothy design on the cabinet doors.
Stairs are in a turret.
The primary bedroom is pretty light b/c of the floor-to-ceiling windows.
This is different. The ensuite has the tub, made of wood slats, between the sinks.
Very large shower room.
This secondary bedroom is lovely. It also has doors to the garden.
The bedrooms open to this area with a bridge over a pond.
There's also a deck.
Here, you can see the pond and 2 decks.
They have a large family room on the upper level.
There's also a patio outside the family room.
Nice little greenhouse.
The large courtyard in the middle of the house.
The view at sunset.
0.71 acre lot.
