One Dress a Day Challenge
February: Coeli's Monochrome Picks
Honky Tonk / Claire Trevor as "Gold Dust" Nelson
Coeli's comment: "What a hat!"
I really like the bold spiral designs on the jacket sleeves. Not sure what's up with that spray of feathers on her shoulder, though.
The costume designer for this film was Robert Kalloch, who went by just "Kalloch" in the credits.

This is more a Francis hc than a fitzier hc but look at me and tell me this guy wouldn't absolutely project on sad old man country music (esp. if he's got love troubles). He's probably complaining about "country music today sucks and is not real country music, unlike my favourite era of country which never was seen as bad country" right now. He will use the term "hardcore honky tonk" despite it having not a lot to do with hardcore music
I can't send YouTube links but here's a list of songs. It's mostly Hank Williams
Mansion on the hill
Someday you'll call my name
There's a tear in my beer (the demo version without his son is better imo)
Six more miles to the grave yard
Midnight Run - James Hand
Just an old man with an old song - James Hand
Hello Walls - Faron Young
Thanks a lot - Ernest Tubb
Walking the floor over you(1941 ver) - Ernest Tubb
James is probably getting decked out in chappell roan merch as we speak
i don’t know that much country music but he’s so right about “this sucks now”. I mean, oh my god bro country? Jingoism? “Get drunk and drive cars?”. James turns on the top 50 country music station and Francis nearly throws the radio out of the window.

Honky Tonk (1941)
Today on the blog: Clark Gable and Lana Turner in HONKY TONK (1941)
“This is the story of a confidence-man — that often unsung but seldom unhung aristocrat of the old west.”
Conman Candy Johnson (Clark Gable) is getting tired of running from town to town to escape trouble. He hopes the next city he lands in will be his permanent home.

Hope grows when he meets Elizabeth Cotton (Lana Turner) on a train. She’s headed from Boston to her hometown…
