When the sun sets and the roommate is kicked out of the apartment, it leaves Charlie as the sole owner of the place, a sense of emptiness she hasn’t felt in a long time. But it is not without purpose because soon arrives the comfort of a drinking buddy just as they had scheduled. “Welcome, my dear friend.” Greeting him with a grin on her face, having nearly thrown the door open a few seconds after the doorbell rang, she does the sensible thing of stepping aside to let him inside. The tunes of an r&b song plays in the background, a hint of nostalgia weaves through the otherwise empty and silent apartment, and something to keep her entertained while she waits for the male.

“I warmed up a pizza while waiting for you because I got hungry.” The comment is thrown over the shoulder as an explanation for why the fragrance of a classical pepperoni pizza permeates the air, a somewhat stifled laughter joining her words, as she makes her way to the kitchen to take it out of the oven. “Whoa. It’s perfect. I can’t believe I’m about to say this but… we can share it if you’re hungry.” There’s a hint of teasing laced in her words, and the grimace makes it clear she’s not as serious about it as she sounds, and she would, if he asked, share the food with him.

The space of the studio is occupied by gentle humming coming from the only inhabitant of the room. The melody is unfamiliar – strange, at best – and it bounces off from the top of her head without second thoughts. It’s a song in the making, one she’s been working on for a few hours now and she has yet to be willing to admit she has gotten nowhere within the past hour. Instead of the musical notes she sorely needs, there are colorful cursewords sitting at the tip of her tongue in their stead, annoyance seeping into her very being as she lets out another frustrated sigh. It’s even more frustrating when she knows how she wants the music to sound like but is not able to manifest it into an actual melody.

Closing her eyes, she leans back against the chair, in an attempt to calm herself down. Maybe she should go for a walk, or at least get out of the studio for a bit. She’s been holed up in here for too long – maybe that is the reason why she’s having an artist’s block. Having breathed the same air for too long might have clouded her mind, but she’s too lazy to actually make a move and do something about it. This is probably a time to take a small nap. Interruption intercepts her alonetime, and she can only think of a few people who were willing to disturb her while she was working.

“If you’re here I hope you at least brought me some food. It’s the least you can do.”

Gimnyeong Maze Park, Jeju Island ; @fmdxmoon

“Unnie, are you quite sure you know where we’re going?” the question is laced with gentle laughter at the antics of the older female, slightly hidden behind the palm of her hand. The pair had been wandering the maze for what seems like hours but in reality could only have been minutes (she hopes because she cannot swallow the fact that they’ve been circling around the same spots for hours without being a step closer to finding the exit.) Lyra is partly amused and partly annoyed at their predicament. Amused, because she never realized how much the older female lacked in sense of direction, yet she was so bold as to claim she knew where they were going and where she was taking them only to end up right back where they started. Annoyed, because they’ve been rounding the place for too long and she was tired of walking, tired of having to be dragged along to the antics of the older female. Had it not been for the cameras following them around she most likely would’ve abandoned the older female by now to find a way out on her own.

Instead she is still trailing behind the older female, looking like a lost puppy for the camera, putting her hope and trust on a miracle at this point that they will get out this maze today. For how much longer they had to suffer walking through this maze was beyond anyone at this point, but she wasn’t about to continue aimlessly walking around either. With the kindest of voice she could muster, she bounces lightly over to the older female and links her arm around the other’s (a show for the camera), “Unnie, I think we’ve been through here before. It looks really familiar to me.”
