repost from @salman_agah In 4th grade my teacher picked me up by the neck and shook me so violently that I pissed my pants from fright. We had lived in California for a year. It’s was the 3rd school I’d gone to in a year. I was called a loser and was told I wouldn’t amount to anything in life by my teacher. As well due to constantly changing schools I had a hard time adjusting and making friends. I was always in trouble for fighting and being disruptive and defiant. I was suspended and expelled on multiple occasions. I struggled with my lessons and the entire structure of the public school system, but I was eager to grow and learn, but in my own way. When I rediscovered skateboarding my life changed. I found myself in a crew of misfits, outcasts, punks, losers, deviants & non conformists. We thrived on being creative and different and celebrated our differences and our love for skateboarding. Finding community in skateboarding was a life saver for me. I still cherish those days and memories of exploring terrain and new obstacles and exploring my physical body and pushing my boundaries and limitations. This is a method air image from a park near where my pops had a French bakery and cafe. A kid named Dennis owned this ramp. I wanted to method air like Jesse Martinez he was one of my early influences. My @oscarputdowntheknife Natas model was a Xmas gift. I believe this was the 2nd time in my life that I experienced Xmas as a kid that’s another story. Jason Adams @kidadams and I were friends already when this photo was taken. We had identical setups. My wheels were @christianhosoi #hosoirockets and @independenttrucks I’m pretty sure teachers in schools don’t speak to students like what I experienced any longer I hope, but if you’re reading this and they do, know that what you have inside and what you love and the passion you have for that thing you love is greater than any persons perception of you.
