5 Precautions Tourists Must Take During Mumbai Rains
Tumblr media
Mumbai and rains have a beautiful love affair. Bollywood movies like Wake Up Sid and Life in a Metro show how the season brings in a gush of romance. Tourists can savour steaming hot tea, soak in the beauty of the weather or stroll by the Marine Drive. These come together to create memories of a lifetime. However, monsoon fury often leaves Mumbai in a state of mayhem. Locals find themselves wading through water if heavy rains lash against the city. Power cuts might disrupt communications. These have become an annual affair and requires travellers to take precautionary measures.
If you are taking a Delhi to Bombay flight during the monsoons, consider a few golden rules. A practical list of ‘dos and don’ts’ can ensure a safe and hassle-free stay in the city.
1. Keep Your Devices Charged
Blackouts are quite common amid rainfall. Lightning strikes and blowing wind can cause power surges. Short circuits are also possible since water can reduce the insulation capability of electronics and snap conductors. So, keep your phones and laptop charged. Consider an SMS pack since patchy internet can impact Messenger or WhatsApp.
2. Stay Protected
It is best to avoid going outside during heavy downpours. This can protect you from stepping on gutters, electric wires, debris and sewage pipes. You can simply order foods to enjoy the day and avoid falling sick. However, tourists can venture outside with umbrellas and raincoats in case it is drizzling. Rains are a pleasant site near the Gateway of India and can soothe distressed minds. Consider buying special waterproof footwear online while checking out Bombay to Delhi to Guwahati flight fare.
3. Carry Medicines
Runny nose and watery eye are common during monsoons. This is especially true if you get wet in the rain. So, consider carrying sufficient medicine for cold and flu. It is all the more important in case heavy rain strikes and hampers mobility. Don’t forget to take plastic pouches along to keep the pills and capsules safe. Further, avoid unhygienic street-side foods during monsoons to stay protected against diarrhoea and infections.
4. Keep Your Family Informed
Your close ones must know where you are putting up. Provide them with emergency contact numbers. Keep them updated about your whereabouts or change in plans. This can help you have a worry-free trip around the city. Further, in case you are stranded or unable to reach the airport for connecting Mumbai to Hyderabad to Delhi flight, your family can arrange and extend help to you.
5. Pack The Essentials
Keep certain things handy while travelling during the rainy season. This includes spare pair of batteries, extra socks and shoes, an extra smartphone (if possible), torches, power banks, a couple of masks, plastic bags, gumboots and dry tissues. You never know when you might need them. So, having these can ensure a safe, convenient and hassle-free holiday.
While checking out Mumbai to Delhi to Guwahati flight fare, research about hotels that are away from the beach. This can keep you safe in case of sudden floods. Further, keeping the above points in mind can help you have a great trip.

How about river rafting in Ladakh? You can easily make out how much fun and adventurous it’s going to be. Zanskar or Zangskar lies in the eastern half of the Indian state of Jammu & Kashmir. It’s said that river rafting in Ladakh is quite unlike the other places to visit in India. With an altitude of approx 16,000 feet, it allows the travellers to get through the beauty of the nature that includes the towering of the snow-capped peaks, hilltop monasteries, villages and a little glimpse of the wildlife. I would say, if you have made up your mind to go rafting then plan your trip for the best family holiday in the monsoon or rather the most adventurous one. And if you are a solo traveller then, don’t give a second thought and move ahead to go rafting in Zanskar.
Grade: The river rafting in Zanskar is known to be the second toughest in India with a grade 4 category.
Location + Accommodation: The river is close to Leh and the nearest airport is the Leh Airport. So, if you are planning to go rafting in Zanskar, then booking your stay at the hotels of Leh or at Padum are recommended.

Ayurveda Treatment in Kerala
Ancient texts and studies reveal that the best time to get Ayurveda Treatment is between June and August (the time of the year when the pores of the body open properly). So I thought of bringing it to you how in the best possible way you can leverage the beginning of the monsoon season. Even though there are many other destinations but why I chose Kerala is because of its 1000-year old tradition of Ayurvedic healing to numerous health issues and body relaxing treatment. If you are planning to get a relaxation therapy to come out of the buzz and hassled city life, then try Panchakarma- a rejuvenation therapy that consists of several steps or you can even go for Shirodhara- Gently pouring of liquids over the for head, which is one of the steps of Panchakarma.
Few Ayurvedic Centers where you can book your appointment are:
Ollur Thaikkattussery Moosath (Thrissur)
Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala (Malappuram)
Dhanwanthari Vaidyasala, (Thodupuzha)
Tip: Before planning your trip to Kerala, make sure you discuss your concerns with a physician over the email where you can share your medical history and other related details.

Haflong Lake
Haflong Lake, is one of the two lakes on the only hill station of Assam. This large and beautiful lake adds a celestial beauty to the hill station which is regarded as the ‘Scotland of Assam’. Haflong is famous for the Jatinga village, just 9 km away. Boating on the lake and Garampani, a hot-water spring, are captivating to the tourists. The lake, Jatinga and the surroundings offer a haven for hundreds of migratory birds in winter.
Jatinga
9-km south of Haflong on the Silchar road and covered with Blue Vandas Orchids, Jatinga is famed in local folklore as the place where birds commit mass suicide. The more brutal truth is that on certain foggy, moonless nights in autumn, local migrant birds can become disorientated while flying up the valley over the saddle of the hill and are attracted with lights by local people, who clobber them to death with bamboo poles and eat them.
Jatinga
There is a bird watching centre in Jatinga, where one may be able to stay if one can get permission from the district forestry office in Haflong. Buses to Silchar pass through, but it may be easier to make a day-trip from Haflong by auto-rickshaw.
Maibong
Stone House at Maibong
47-km away from Haflong, on the banks of river Mahur, lie the ruins of the once flourishing capital of the Dimasa Kachari Kingdom. A stone house and temple of Kachari kings can be seen at Maibong.
Umrangshu or Umrongso
112-km away from Haflong by road, the biggest Hydel plant under North East Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) has come up with dams across the river Kopili, a tributary of the Brahmaputra. Near Umrangshu, there is a hot water spring Garampani, which is believed to possess medicinal properties. Boating on the lake, hot water spring – Garampani and the exquisite scenery from the top of the hill are enough to captivate a tourist’s attention.
