It's been eons since I read anything to do with pern and now your tags have me curious. Why is Anne mccaffery a problematic fave?

Oh some of her books (specially her earliest ones) have that super creepy vibe in the relationships of like. Did.... she consent to this??? LESSA WASN'T EVEN TOLD THIS WOULD HAPPEN. HOW IS THAT CONSENSUAL? And basically it's just expected that they be in a relationship with the rider that wins the queen how weird is that? And 90% of the dudes are super macho hetero dudes like u know the archetype? Like her writing does get better and she comes out with characters like Jaxom ♡ and Piemer who are good and fun. So it's not like she doesn't improve from the toxic messages she was sending in the 60-70s. I'll give her some credit for that. But like this is just me using examples from Pern lmao she has 30,000 other books oh my god don't get me started about the book about the sentient ship/captain. like bruh i know this is supposed to be next level romantic but all i can think about is him rubbing his junk on the console. SHE HAS WEIRD SHIT. Which some of it I'm like 👍👌 but some of it is really 😦. (Which i have ebooks of a lot of stuff if anyone ever needs a hookup.....)Also she's anti-fanfic and it gets my back up when authors are like that. So like off the top of my head that's why.
