i understand why anti piracy exists obviously but the truth is that piracy really massively contributes to archiving media... a lot of people's first foray into piracy is trying to find something that isn't available for sale online anywhere. in the streaming and subscription era its so much rarer to actually own what you buy, so many services can just remove your products even if you've paid for them, and it's becoming more and more common
