Information security

This week my group has been learning about the importance of Information security, and the dangers of not having the proper precautions of keeping your details safe.

What is personal data?

Who holds the information? - Personal data is all the details that describe you, for example your date of birth, medical information and bank details etc. The information is usually held by the user as well as any party with shared interests.

Are there any privacy issues? - It can be at risk by various forms of malware such as; viruses, worms, Trojan horses and logic bombs. However, the privacy measurements can be undermined even easier by the simple threat of social engineering.

How to request your personal information? - You can request your personal information from the privacy sources by making a call, requesting a face to face meeting or sending an email.

Who is it shared with? - It is usually shared with the user, a company with shared interest and the people that initially hold the information e.g. the bank or NHS.
