What does strong look like? Thanks for your share @coachgretchenmeyers ! “⭐️About 15 years ago, in my early training career, I joined a gym in the hopes of working there. I had heard really good things about this one instructor in particular, so I signed up for her class right away. . . During that first boot camp, I struggled to keep up. She would effortlessly pick up heavy dumbbells and squat deep and jump up and had the most perfect form. And she talked the whole time as if she was standing still. . . At the end of the class, she lifted up her shirt to reveal her stomach rolls, grabbed them, and said “these rolls say nothing about how strong I am and everything about how much I love Mexican food, margaritas, and the total joy I get outta my life”. . 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 . Up until that point, I had never taken a class with anyone who had a body that didn’t look like mine (thin and white). And yes, back then I fully believed that strong meant you had to have visible muscles and a low percentage of body fat. That one class- and that instructor- changed a lot for me. . And over the course of my career, I’ve seen and trained hundreds of different bodies that proved her right. . You can’t judge someone’s fitness level based on what their body looks like or what they choose to eat. . Strength doesn’t have a ‘look’. Don’t fall into the trap that tells you otherwise. . “ . . . #strengthtraining #howtogetstrong #likehowyoueat #likehowyoumove #behappybehealthy #strong #kettlebells #kettlebell #kettlebellkings #battleropes #battleropesworkout #kettlebellworkout #kettlebellswings #strongwomen #fitness #fit #fitnessjourney #strength #muscle #workout https://www.instagram.com/p/CBYGLliMkv4/?igshid=hzmlua7rib8n

Percentage-based #training is nothing new and has been popular for decades. And for good reason: it’s a time-tested, valid, and effective way to get #stronger 💪 • I’ve been using the progression featured here for about 25 years, both personally and with clients and it always delivers. The first time I ever benched 300 lbs. as a teenager, I used a version of this (I’ve just tweaked it over the years). 👌 • If you are at the intermediate stage, somewhat strong, and have a good grasp on overall technique on multiple joint exercises, well, giving something like this “a go” can provide a real jolt to your strength #gainz 👍 • I’d suggest using this protocol on ONE big, multiple joint exercise to begin your workouts. It’s a very straight-forward, week-to-week profession. You obviously have to have a general idea of what an estimated 1 rep max would on the exercises you choose (there are 1 RM calculators all over the internet) to run this. There is NOTHING wrong with being very conservative in your estimate, and, in fact...it’s recommend. You run through this enough times, trust me, it will get challenging enough. 👌 • And that’s good segue actually, because I’ve had people look at this on paper and say “that doesn’t look the least bit hard” or “I could totally do way more reps with those weights bro.” 🤙 • The idea with this progression is not to trash you, induce a ton of metabolic stress, etc. It’s meant to gradually take the brakes off your nervous system. It’s about getting crisp, dialed in reps each session. Not missing reps. Honing technique. There is plenty of time during the rest of the workout to get in #hypertrophy work, the pump and burn stuff, etc. • Just try it. I think you’ll be very pleased over the course of several months with how your #strength comes along 💯 • #strengthtraining #powerlifting #workouts #workout #muscle #fitness #deadlift #squat #benchpress #howtogetstrong #fitfam #bodybuilding https://www.instagram.com/pjstriet/p/BwGHtdjlA5f/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=13ebyaas2ruqu

While sleeping in sounds good, it’s not going to do anything for you in the long run. Set the alarm clock a little earlier and do something for you.

💥HOW TO GET STRONGER💥 by @syattfitness - ☕️It's very easy to get caught up in the mindset of expecting see your strength go up every time you go to the gym. - 🦄Because, when you first start out, your strength *will* go up nearly every time you go to the gym. - 🦄But as you get stronger, the harder it becomes to get stronger. - ☕️That's why I've said for years, "the stronger you get, the harder it gets.” - 🦄In the same way you can't expect to lose weight every time you step on the scale, you can't expect to gain strength every time you go to the gym. - ☕️And in the same way losing scale weight isn't the only way to know you're losing fat (measurements go down, bf goes down, clothes fit better, you feel better, look better in the mirror, etc)...adding weight to the bar isn't the only way to know you're getting stronger (use better form with the same weight, do more reps with the same weight, feel stronger with the same weight, get less fatigued, etc). - 🦄All of that aside, I want you to remember one very important point. - ☕️You probably got "hooked" on lifting because you loved it. You loved how it made you feel. You loved how empowering it was. You loved the process of getting stronger. - 🦄Now, if you find yourself getting stressed out or worried or concerned or angry or demotivated because you aren't getting as strong as you'd like as quickly as you'd like....take a step back and re-evaluate. - ☕️Breathe. Smile. Relax. - If someone you know is trying to get stronger, then send them here. - #powerlifting #powerliftingchicks #howtogetstrong #howtogetstronger #strengthandconditioning #strength #strengthtraining #strengthtrain #strong #strongman #strongwoman #powerlifting #powerlift #powerlifter #powerliftingwomen #weightlifting #weights #chickswholift #ladieswholift #girlswholift #girlswhopowerlift #bodybuilder #bodybuilder #bodybuildingcom #muscles #alwaysoptimal #jmaxfitness http://ift.tt/2kkqeOy
