TRAINED FOR 3 YEARS 1 MONTH ( SIGNED JANUARY 2020 )
INTRODUCTION VIDEO FOUND … PRESS PLAY ?
“hey!” is he a little too excited, a little too animated? perhaps, but that’s just sam’s style. he’s always a little too into whatever it might be that he’s doing. admittedly, though, he gets a little extra amped in front of a camera. what can he say? he was born to be seen, born for the stage. he gives the camera a friendly wave and a smile
he reels in in a little bit though, bowing more respectfully than his initial greeting had been. “hello, everyone! i’m sam hwang, or hwang seongbin, whatever’s easier for you,” he’s never been too picky with nicknames or anything like that. just don’t call him late for dinner, he would joke. “i’m a three-year trainee at legacy and their best kept secret. a hidden treasure, if you will,” he winks to the camera, not at all ashamed about how much he brags about himself. “i can do it all, sing, dance, rap… i’ll even try a little acting if you want me to!” he laughs. okay, so that’s one thing he isn’t good at… not yet at least.
“today, though, i’m just gonna show you a little bit of this,” he pulls a guitar out from seemingly nowhere, thanks to the magic of someone out of frame handing him his old, beat-up beauty. the varnish is worn and it’s not as pretty as a new guitar, but she’s never let sam down and he’s not ready to give up on her yet. “it’s an original song, just a tiny snippet! this hasn’t been released yet, so keep it a secret,”
his fingers dance over the strings, strumming, plucking, slapping notes out of the instrument in a fun, rhythmic way. he even sings a little, though it’s obvious that the lyrics are far from finished, mostly coming out in little “na na na” sounds.
sam reaches a stopping point, apparently, because he lets the final chord ring for a few seconds before muffling the instrument. “and that’s it!” he exclaims, just as animated as he had been in the beginning. “i hope you liked it, even though it’s not quite the next #1 debut on billboard… we’ll get there someday, though! that’s my dream, i guess. to make a name for myself… other than the super talented, blindingly handsome legacy entertainment trainee.” he grins again at the camera, thanking the imaginary viewer for their love and support, before signing off.
super excited to be here and introduce my boy HWANG SEONGBIN! he's kinda an ass but that's okay at least he's cute. his full profile can be found here!
rather than a long introduction about myself, i'd rather just introduce the boy here. i'll but a tl;dr version of him under the cut along with some plot/relationship ideas!
also for the record i'm not super accessible off of tumblr so ims is probably the best place to reach me <3
ok so first of all this is a recycled muse from another rp so if he sounds familiar... that would be why!
basically, he grew up somewhat spoiled in the sense that he’s never had to work hard for anything unless he really wanted to. only child, received lots of love and attention and support for whatever hobby or interest he had.
just happened that he had an aunt who lived in los angeles, california that he went to live with during middle school (his choice, he wanted an adventure). an aside, but he went by “steve hwang” over there. he fell in love with music, started to dabble in it more seriously. eventually, this turned into songwriting and now he’s a music production major! he’s tried to play almost any instrument on the planet at this point but he’s only actually any good at guitar, piano/keyboard, and maybe a little bit of drums/percussion if he practiced at it more.
he’s in that loser band (rhythm guitar)! he says he thought it’d be a lot cooler than it actually is and his bandmates are all losers forreal and he doesn’t want to be associated with them, but he’s also feuding with the lead guitarist for that position so what is the truth?
grew up playing baseball! started in little league and it was his way of making friends when he lived abroad for a bit, and kept playing even when he came back to korea. he’s probably not good enough to go pro, but he’s definitely good enough to be on the kwu team! plays shortstop and 2nd base interchangeably and has a slightly above average batting average.
he’s actually a very talented guy! and quite dedicated to his craft, but fortunately or unfortunately (depending on your perspective), it’s always come easy to him and never felt like hard work (maybe because he was enjoying it too much and never had to struggle or suffer for it). so he’s got this idea in his head that he’s just naturally better or more talented than everyone else.
side note: he works as a campus janitor. he’s not proud of this and it’s super lame but hey, a guy’s gotta make money somehow! he figures it’s an overnight gig and he has access to keys to the building so it’s kinda useful... especially if you need the answer key for that quiz on tuesday... not that he’d do that, no!
he’s not a bad guy, but he’s not the nicest either, as you might be able to tell. he’s fun, has a good sense of humor, and there’s really nothing to complain about as far as his work ethic goes. but he’s not exactly…. likable…. to some people……. unfortunately he is super cocky and full of himself, obsessed with image to the point that he’ll probably lie to make you think he’s cooler than he is, and 100% an attention whore. he won’t cause drama to get attention, but he wants to focus on him at all times, especially if it’s positive attention. he has problems.
while he’s not based off of any one particular character, he kinda gives me vibes from: steve harrington (stranger things), gretchen weiners (mean girls), a tiny hint of troy and chad (high school musical), and a little bit of a starlord (mcu) vibe.
that was supposed to be a tl;dr how did it get so long....
anyway, some plot/thread/relationship ideas!
would love to see him with some ex plots… unfortunately, he thinks he’s straight, so this would be limited to female muses only!! maybe it was a very short-lived fling, maybe your muse realized that he’s more in love with himself than he was with your muse. this would take a bit of plotting to figure out specifics, but i think it’d be interesting to explore:
a) seongbin’s selfish side where he really only used your muse for attention and feels no guilt/regret about the breakup or
b) someone that seongbin actually really liked but screwed it up by being… himself……. someone who actually broke his heart
c) messy exes are also always fun and as much as i don’t condone his behavior he’s not above using others for attention/validation.
along with exes (romantically), i’d love to see some friend-exes too! someone who got fed up with seongbin’s shit and now hates his guts... maybe there was a dramatic falling out, or maybe you just slowly drifted apart. regardless, seongbin really gets on your last nerve these days.
current friends too would be nice! someone patient to help keep him grounded, or at least try. seongbin, for all his flaws, is actually quite a loyal friend. he does his best to make the people around him happy (if only because they, in turn, will think highly of him... which makes him happy)
for the record: he’s unreliable and flighty. he’s part of the music club technically but he’s never actually shown up to any meetings or events (or if he has, it’s been super late). i’m sure this could be a point of contention with someone!
since he’s kinda a jock-like character, it’d be fun to have like... another sporty muse workout buddies plot. seongbin takes baseball pretty seriously so he can often be found in the athletics center training/working out and could use a spotter!
along the same lines, a fellow jock who catches him doing his janitor rounds one night. i feel like seongbin keeps this job on the dl since it’s pretty lame and it’d hurt his “cool guy” reputation. your muse can either be understanding or a snake! snakes make for better longterm plots but an understanding muse we can still get at least one good thread out of!
someone who’s a fan of the band? a fan of seongbin?? he hasn’t actually been in the band all that long but it would Absolutely go to his head immediately... i’m so sorry
seongbin’s not a bad student but he’s not the best... it’d be nice to have a study buddy, or maybe you’re tutoring him in a class he’s not doing well in (writing essays doesn’t come easy to everyone!!), or maybe a study group or something
he likes to party and knows how to drink. there are only about a million college party shenanigans we can get our muses into and i intend to get seongbin involved with almost all of them! half-joking but seriously would love to have people he makes bad decisions with!
i’ll add more ideas as i think of them but hopefully this gives us places to start!!
hi everyone and sorry for the slight delay on the intro post! thank you for all the welcomes i’ve gotten so far and i’ll be reaching out for plots and everything shortly after i get this up!!
u ever get absolutely steamrolled by a muse and have to find a place to put them? that’s what happened to me with seongbin here... so i’m joining wishing stars for the first time so i can let him live the life he absolutely DEMANDED of me!
i’ll put a tl;dr version of his info under the cut (and a few plot/relationship ideas as well) but in the meantime, his profile and career pages are already up for your reading pleasure!
so a bit of a tl;dr summary of one mr. hwang seongbin:
basically, he grew up somewhat spoiled in the sense that he’s never had to work hard for anything unless he really wanted to. only child, received lots of love and attention and support for whatever hobby or interest he had. just happened that he had an aunt who lived in los angeles, california that he went to live with during middle school (his choice, he wanted an adventure) and he fell in love with hip hop and rap music, started to dance and rap, and then his aunt introduced the idea of being a singer in korea to him and he was all in on that.
he’s actually a very talented guy! and quite dedicated to his craft, but fortunately or unfortunately (depending on your perspective), it’s always come easy to him and never felt like hard work (maybe because he was enjoying it too much and never had to struggle or suffer for it). so he’s got this idea in his head that he’s just naturally better or more talented than everyone else.
probably didn’t help that he appeared on high school rapper in 2018 and made it to the finals despite having very little competitive or tv experience and was signed to yuseong ent. shortly after. he was a little bitter he didn’t win first prize, but when he was almost immediately put into a debut lineup with phoenix, he quickly forgot about that.
phoenix’s main rapper and lead dancer since their debut in 2018! depending on how tolerant your muse is, he might not be the easiest guy to get along with. he’s not very good at hiding the fact that he’s pretty cocky and full of himself and can be a bit patronizing because of that. “what do you mean you’re struggling with this choreography? it’s easy, see? *dances (almost) flawlessly*”, that sort of attitude. he’ll help his teammates but he’ll act exasperated about it the whole time and never lets anyone forget that he only trained for three months before he was considered debut-ready; i don’t think he’s ever said it outright, but he’s probably implied that that makes him better than his members.
he’s not a bad guy, but he’s not the nicest either, as you might be able to tell. he’s fun, has a good sense of humor, and there’s really nothing to complain about as far as his work ethic goes. but he’s not exactly.... likable.... to some people.......
also was part of D4NC3RB01 with cha bomin, but was super flaky and unreliable since most of his time with the group he was either on high school rapper or training at yuseong, both of which he prioritized over a little dance crew with friends.
some plot/thread/relationship ideas!!
would love to see him with some ex plots... maybe it was a very short-lived fling, maybe your muse realized that he’s more in love with himself than he was with your muse. this would take a bit of plotting to figure out specifics, but i think it’d be interesting to explore: a) seongbin’s selfish side where he really only used your muse for attention and feels no guilt/regret about the breakup or b) someone that seongbin actually really liked but screwed it up by being... himself....... c) messy exes are also always fun and as much as i don’t condone his behavior he’s not above using others for attention/validation
newer idols/trainees in yuseong who might’ve been signed around the same time with even though he debuted so much sooner than the rest of them. maybe could be a rivalry plot? he’d absolutely hold it over someone’s head that he’s “so much better” than them for what a quick and easy path to debut he had. alternatively, someone who isn’t bothered by his attitude (or acknowledges it) that can just be a friend who tries to keep his ego in check?
ALSO newer idols/trainees who were signed after phoenix’s debut who might’ve been a fan of seongbin... you know what they say about never meeting your idols.... maybe your muse was very quickly disappointed by his off-stage attitude (being cocky and confident makes for great entertainment on-screen but is so annoying off-screen) OR is still under the illusion that seongbin is a good person :’)
another muse who’s better at something than seongbin is. could be almost anything: he’s not a strong actor, a decent singer but not the best, better at a certain sport, certain instrument, anything. hell, it could be the fact that your tiktok got more likes than his or something equally petty or inconsequential. he hates the fact that he’s second place (or lower) in anything. could either be a friendly rivalry where your muse is actively helping him improve in whatever skill they have, or a less friendly relationship.
someone older/more senior than seongbin who actively tries to warn him about his behavior, rein it in, and maybe act like a mentor figure. seongbin’s not going to be an easy one to teach to behave (especially since he hasn’t gotten in any significant trouble so far), but you haven’t given up on him yet! someone’s gotta save this kid from himself.
Rookie Seongbin Hwang to appear in ‘Alice, the Ultimate Weapon’
Rookie Seongbin Hwang casts his vote for ‘Alice, the final weapon’.
On the 10th, her agency Kurz Nine Entertainment released an official document containing a profile image, saying, “Hwang Seong-bin is able to properly greet the public with ‘Alice, the Ultimate Weapon’.”
In the original Watcha drama 'Alice, the Last Weapon', starring Hwang Seong-bin, a transfer student, Winter (Park Se-wan), who has to hide his identity as a killer, and Yeo-reum (Song Geon-hee), a handsome old school boy, who has ruled the school with non-violence, are chased by criminal gangs, and their school life is stained with blood. It's a hardcore action romance.
Hwang Seong-bin takes on the role of Iljin Do-gyun, who took control of the school. Do-gyun is a character in contrast to Yeo-reum (Song Geon-hee), who counterattacks school staff with non-violence in the play.
Hwang Seong-bin said, “While participating in Alice’s ‘Do-gyun,’ the final weapon, I felt and learned a lot about her acting and the scene. It was such an honor for her to be with director Lee Byung-hun and director Seo Seong-won, whom she had always admired. Especially with director Seo Seong-won, she put a lot of effort to show the human side of ‘Do-gyun’, and I think there were a lot of interesting scenes in the process, so I’m very excited to see how the work will turn out.”
Watcha's original drama 'Alice, the Last Weapon', starring Seongbin Hwang, will be released for the first time on the 24th.
HWANG SEONGBIN is 21 YEARS OLD and currently enrolled in kyungwon university. he is in his 3RD YEAR of the UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM, majoring in MUSIC PRODUCTION with a minor in SONGWRITING. he is notably part of the MUSIC CLUB, and is the 2ND BASEMAN/SHORTSTOP of the BASEBALL TEAM. he works part-time ON-CAMPUS as a CAMPUS JANITOR. you may find him in the EAST WING (ROOM #3).
+ ... // LOAD STUDENT BACKGROUND . . .
the first time he touched an instrument was at three years old. his mother took him to church, suddenly frenzied with the thought that she needed to get her toddler baptized despite the fact that she and her husband hadn’t set foot in a church since their wedding. after the service, he toddled around the sanctuary, waddling down to the little alcove where the church’s band performed. the guitarist had left his instrument on a stand there, and the child touched the shiny surface curiously. a moment later, his mother was scooping him up before he could do any real damage to things that don’t belong to him, but his eyes lit up when his littlest finger caught one of the strings, plucking it on accident as she pulled him away.
he’s six by the time he’s touching an instrument again, this time under his piano instructor’s watchful eye as he plunks out the keys and learns his first notes and scales. she adjusts chubby little fingers, teaching him how to arch his palms and stretch his hands so he can be good at this someday. he cries that she’s too strict to his mother, who makes him attend the rest of the classes she already paid for. he’s grinning excitedly and nagging to go to the next lesson soon enough.
in middle school, he’s off on his first adventure. the plane ride across the ocean is a long one, but he’s welcomed into his aunt’s home soon enough anyway. he throws himself into a new social life there, sharing music from home with new friends and listening to their favorite songs in return. he learns rudimentary guitar in music class with the rest of his classmates and then begs his aunt to buy him one of his own so he can continue learning and practicing. she does eventually, with money from his parents back in korea, and he throws himself into it just as excitedly as he picked up piano.
by the time he flies back to korea to finish up his education closer to his parents, he’s dabbled in percussion, in other strings, he tried learning brass before he decided that it was too difficult and a setting on his keyboard sounded just as good. he’s writing his own little songs, frankly cacophonous sounds that will never see the light of day, but he has fun doing it.
halfway through high school he realizes he’s going to need to go to college. his parents expect it, and even if his grades were only kinda good, never fantastic, he has no real excuse not to. he’s genuinely surprised when he passes his exams, maybe not with great scores but enough to get into kyungwon university. maybe he shouldn’t be shocked; he was born under a lucky star anyways.
