length:Â 1.9k (i got carried away with soft!billy)
warnings:Â mainly fluff, soft!billy, mentions of sex, mentions of abuse (billy's dad)
a.n: set around s2/3 ish? there are no volume 2 spoilers in this post!
It was late on a Tuesday night and as usual, you were doing homework, books sprawled out on your bed. Youâd been at it for hours and your eyes stung but there was a huge test coming up that you couldn't fail. It would ruin your whole Harrington reputation and since your older brother, Steve, graduated, it was up to you to continue the family legacy.
The problem was, you didnât care much. Itâs not that you didnât care about your education, because you did and you were grateful. But your parents (when they were around) would put immense amounts of pressure on you and you hated it. Steve managed to break away from it a bit and a part of you hated him a little for it, but you couldnât blame him. If you could, you would forget about an Ivy League school and stay in Hawkins with your friends, get a job and have the life you actually wanted. And it was thanks to a certain someone who helped you realise what you actually wanted, not your parents - Billy Hargrove.
Youâd met on his first day of school when heâd waltzed in late to your math class and his entire persona dripped of Bad Boy. And yet, there was a certain nervousness to him as he sat beside you, fingers drumming on the desk repetitively. After a while, it got on your nerves enough for you to place your hand on top of it to stop the incessant noise. He had blinked and looked at you - and that was it. You had fallen head over heels for him.
No one could know, at first. If your friends (and Steve) found out that you were dating the schoolâs, hell, Hawkinsâ, biggest bad boy then you would be murdered on sight. It didnât take Billy long to replace your brotherâs âKing Steveâ place and even though you were fairly popular too, you still couldnât tell anyone that Y/N Harrington was in love with Billy Hargrove. But, steadily, people found out. Max and Lucas were first after they caught you and Billy in the middle of things after school one day and you swore them to secrecy. But of course, Lucas told Dustin, Mike, and Will. And if the boys knew, it was only a matter of time before your brother found out.
Somehow, it had been a month and Steve hadnât said a word to you. You picked up your history textbook as you thought about it. Did Steve know? Had the boys finally told him and he just hadnât addressed it yet or did he truly not know?
A tap on your window rouses you from your thoughts. You frowned. Did you imagine it? The clock on your bedside table told you it was near midnight. Youâd been studying since seven and had barely stopped to breathe. Maybe you were just tired. But then it came again and you definitely hadnât imagined that.
You rose from your bed, papers and books shifting at the disturbance. Your bedroom overlooked the pool and the floodlights outside barely illuminated a figure at the bottom of your window, but this was a familiar enough routine that you knew who it was. You unlatched your window and pushed it all the way up, leaning out. The night air made your bare arms break out in goosebumps and you shivered.
âBilly?â you whispered, hoping that Steve was asleep in the room next door. Your parents were away for the week so you didnât have to worry about them, but Steve was like a watchdog.
Normally, Billy would be leaning against the wall with a smirk on his mouth and a quip ready on his lips that would always wind up with the pair of you tangled in your bedsheets and out of breath. But sometimesâŚsometimes he was quiet. Sad. Beaten.
Tonight was one of these times.
âY/N,â he said, his voice almost broken. You wondered how bad it was this time.
âCome on,â you said simply. He always waited for permission before entering your bedroom and you found that sweet, even in the state he was in. Slowly, you watched him climb up the side of your house, using the windows and pipes and the sheer strength of his muscles to pull himself into your window. You helped him in and pulled the window back down as quietly as you could but you stumbled and it landed with a clatter. You tensed and both you and Billy waited for sounds of Steve. Sure enough, his footsteps sounded down the hall and there was a knock on your day.l âY/N? Everything alright in there?â Steve voice came from outside your bedroom door.
âYep, all good!â you called back, hoping you were convincing. âMy window got stuck again.â
âOh, okay. Well, night!â Steve replied and you listened to him leave, only relaxing when you heard his bedroom door close again.
When you turned around, you gasped. Billyâs eye was almost swollen shut and there was a lovely, vicious bruise forming along his jaw. His top lip was also split, slightly swollen and dried blood painted it. Your heart sank to the floor. âOh, Billy,â you sighed.
He finally met your eyes, shining with tears. ââS not that bad,â he brushed it off. âBut I canât clean it up.â You picked up on what he was asking without words, as always. He was asking for help.
You swallowed thickly and nodded. âOf course. Come here.â You led him to your bed as always and he perched on the edge, careful to move your books to the side.
As you went to your desk to retrieve your supplies for these situations, Billy glanced around your room. On his usual visits, he never really paid any attention to it. He was otherwise occupied. But whenever he showed up like this, he studied every inch of it as if by examining the walls, he was examining the inside of your brain. And, you supposed, he was.
He looked at which record you had listened to most recently (Queenâs The Works) and what books you were reading (a lot of Jane Austen, looking at your bookcase). He loved learning little details about your life that you didnât realise he cared about. Heâd also never admit it out loud but he loved listening to you talk for hours about what you loved, thinking that he had no idea what you were talking about when really he knew exactly what you were saying.
âIâm sorry,â he said softly. Your back was turned but you frowned at him as you turned around, first aid kit in your hand.
âSorry?â you repeated. âFor what?â
He waved around your room. âFor interrupting so late. Didnât mean to.â
You came over and knelt on the floor between his legs. There was nothing remotely sexual about it this time and you took his hands gently in yours and made him look at you. âBilly, itâs fine. Iâd rather you be here than there.â He knew where you meant. At home, with his asshole father that did this to him. You wondered what Billy had done this time that had caused his father to flip. You never asked explicitly. If Billy wanted to tell you, he would. He usually didnât and you never pressed. But you knew it was usually about Max and how he should be more responsible for her. Which, you thought, was rather unfair. Max was her own person and god knows she had a mind of her own. Billy didnât want to look after his step sister all the time and you understood that. But his father didnât.
You took a deep breath as he nodded. Letting go of his hands, you unzipped the first aid kit and got to work. âThis is going to hurt,â you said like always, even though he knew. This had happened enough times that he knew exactly what would happen when you pressed a cloth with alcohol to his lip to clean the wound. He hissed and you used your other hand to grip his leg to keep him still. He placed his hands on your shoulders to keep himself steady as you worked to clean up the mess his father had left.
You tried to fill the silence with distractions. âSo Steve hasnât said anything yet.â
Billyâs eyebrow on his good eye lifted in surprise. âNo? Interesting.â He mumbled. âReckon he knows Iâm banging the better looking Harrington?â You gave him a look and smacked him arm very lightly, but a smile tugged at your lips. There was Billyâs humour returning. He grinned at you. âWhat?â he said innocently. âIâm being honest. You really are better looking than him.â
âOh, shut up,â you scolded but your tone was entirely un-serious. âTo answer your question properly, no I donât think he knows yet. Thereâs no way in hell heâd be quiet if he found out what you were doing to his baby sister.â
Billy smirked. âMaybe we should tell him. I could do with a good laugh right about now.â
You set down your supplies as you finished and tossed the blood-stained cloths in the bin. âAbsolutely not,â you shook your head before standing up and looking down at him. You pressed a soft kiss to his temple. âAll done and all handsome again.â
He brought you closer to him and wrapped his arms around your middle. His head rested on your stomach and you gently played with his hair for a moment. âThank you,â he mumbled into your top.
âAlways,â you told him sincerely.
He sighed and pulled away. âI suppose I should get back. Iâve disturbed your study session enough.â He made to stand up but you shook your head.
âUh-uh. Thereâs no way youâre going back home tonight. You know the drill, Hargrove.â He blinked at your sudden dominance and bowed his head, relenting.
âYes, sir,â he huffed a laugh and looked at your bed, head cocked. âI would offer to put this shit away but we both know Iâd mess with your system.â
âQuite right,â you nodded before gathering your study materials and quietly placing them on your desk. Then you got ready for bed as usual, turning off the main light and putting on your night light that Billy had teased you about for weeks the first time heâd visited your room. You tossed Billy one of his spare t-shirts that you kept in the bottom drawer of your dresser and the pair of you dressed for bed, removing your jeans and climbing into bed beside each other.
You laid with your head on his chest, listening to his breathing, glad he was okay. Nights like this always humbled you, grateful for the family you had even though you had your own problems. At least your parents never hurt you the way Billyâs dad did to him.
âGoodnight, princess,â Billy said quietly, pressing a kiss to your head.
âNight, Billy.â He snuggled in closer and turned the pair of you until your back was pressed against his chest. But as you moved, something shifted in the bed and fell out, landing with a hard slam on the floor.
âShit!â you hissed, the pair of you sitting up to see a stray textbook on the floor. Youâd missed one.
âY/N?â Steve was outside the door again and you barely had time to stop him before he opened the door. As Steveâs eyes landed on you, his baby sister, and Billy Hargrove in bed together, he screamed.
âShit,â you repeated.
As Steve began to lecture you, Billy pressed a kiss to your shoulder and muttered, âWell, I guess your brother knows.â

midnight visitor pt. 2 - billy hargrove
pairing:Â billy x harrington!reader
summary:Â pt.2 requested by @siriusdumblittlepuppy :) follows on from steve finding out you and billy are dating
length:Â 1.5k
warnings:Â mainly fluff, soft!billy, mentions of abuse (billyâs dad), insecurity (abt how the reader could be with billy)
a.n: set around s2/3 ish? there are no volume 2 spoilers in this post!
It took Steve a good two minutes to stop talking. When he finished, he breathed heavily and pinched the bridge of his nose.
âYou done now?â you asked your brother. He scrunched his nose up and shook his head, mostly in disbelief.
âY/N,â he began in that tone of his that makes you roll your eyes. He looked lost for words so you sat up, Billy doing the same behind you. You half blocked him with your body, keeping him out of the wrath of your brother. Even if you knew Billy could take it, this was about you and Steve, not Billy and Steve.
âSteve.â You caught his attention. âThis isnât something new. And itâs not just a one-time thing, though even if it was it wouldnât be any of your business.â You paused and glanced behind you at Billy. He was trying to hide his bruised face in the shadows and your heart broke for him a little. He only ever let you see him like this. Heâd hate for the guy he replaced as King of Hawkins to see him so vulnerable. He chews his lip nervously and you give him a small smile and face your brother again. âI love him, Steve. And Iâm pretty sure he loves me, too. And Iâve had to put up with you and your fair share of girls youâve sneaked in when mom and dad arenât here, so Iâll thank you to keep out of my business.â
Steveâs mouth fell open. He closed it at the sight of your glare and his eyes flicked over to Billy. If he noticed the bruises, he said nothing, keeping to himself instead. He knew he couldnât really tell you off. You were rightâSteve had invited girls over multiple times when your parents were away and bribed you to secrecy with promises of doing it for you in the future. Now the moment was here, he just didnât think it would be with Billy freaking Hargrove of all people.
And yet, heâd seen the look of surprise on Billyâs face when youâd said you loved each other. And not a bad kind of surprise either, the kind that warmed your stomach and made your heart beat a little faster. It was how he had felt with Nancy. It was confirmation that Billy did in fact love you and something about it hurt him in a good way. He shook his head. Love was hard to understand.
âAlright, Y/N,â Steve said after a moment of silence. âI wonât get in your way. JustâŚjust donât break her heart, Hargrove.â
Billyâs head lifted. âNever, Harrington.â
Steve nodded and he left, muttering something about kids in love on his way out. When he was back in his room, you turned to Billy. âLook, Billyââ
His lips pressed to yours, cutting you off. He didnât pull away until you were both breathless and he rested his forehead on yours, panting slightly. âI love you, princess. I do.â
âOh,â you breathed in relief. âIâm so glad because I kind of just said it hoping you did love me, since I love you and I know itâs only been a few months or whatever but I know you like the back of my hand and I wanna be here for every bad night and every good night you have. Through thick and thin and all the soppy shit people like Steve say to girls he falls in love with for a night. Except this isnât just for a night. Itâs for every night.â
Billy laughed. âJesus, do you ever stop rambling when youâre nervous?â
You blushed. âNo.â
âCâmere.â He wrapped his arms around you and pulled you in until your back was resting against his chest again. Now it felt the opposite way, like he was protecting you after youâd patched up his wounds and defended your love affair to your brother. But there was a shift in the air. Something had changed in the space of ten minutes. Your love affair was no longer secret and you didnât have to sneak around. Your brother had accepted it and wasnât going to stop you from seeing Billy, which had been your biggest worry. And best of all, you found you Billy loved you as much as you loved him.
You snuggled down into him, closing your eyes. âMaybe now you can use the front door,â you mumbled as you drifted off.
#
After that, the dynamic of the group changed entirely. Mike was first to protest that the guys couldnât come round and see Steve without seeing you and Billy being all couple-y in the kitchen. One of the kids would walk past your bedroom to go to the bathroom and see your door open slightly, you and Billy kissing on your bed or simply hanging together. Theyâd cry out in surprise and run on. And you and Billy would laugh, finding it hilarious.
Max found it strange, too, even though she knew. She was fine with it, but she was getting used to the idea of seeing you guys in public. Still, she was grateful that it meant Billy spent more time at your house than home though she didnât enjoy having to avoid Billyâs dadâs questions about where he was at all times. Sheâd never tell Billy either, but secretly she loved having you in her life more. You felt like a big sister to her and the times that you were spending time at her house, she enjoyed how youâd kick Billy out of the sitting room to have girl time with her.
The worst problem was Dustin, who constantly moaned about your relationship with Billy to anyone who would listen. Most of the time it was to Steve, begging him to break it up already before Billy got bored and dumped you.
âChrist, Henderson!â you exclaimed after walking into the kitchen to hear Dustin saying exactly that to Steve.
Steve froze, wide-eyed, and busied himself making coffee. Dustin just turned, arms folded, and continued. âCome on, Y/N, you know what heâs like!â
Now, you loved Dustin. Truly. He was a good kid with a big heart and a wicked sense of humour. And even though his friendship with Steve was still relatively new, you could tell how much your brother meant to him. But that didnât give him any right to pester Steve about ending your relationship. Or any place to comment on it at all, really.
âListen to me, Henderson,â you said slowly, trying to remain calm when really you were quite pissed off by it all. âItâs been three weeks since Steve found out and he has kept his promise to keep out of it. I would ask you to do the same thing. My relationship with Billy only concerns the two of us and we will not be splitting up because of you lot whining about it. You hear me?â
Dustinâs face calmed down and he looked down at his feet. âYes, Y/N,â he said apologetically.
âGood.â You patted his head and walked out of the kitchen, taking Steveâs mug of coffee with you as he was lifting it to his mouth for the first sip.
#
Billy was just as pissed when you told him what happened. âThat little shit,â he said, his knuckles flexing around his steering wheel as he drove the pair of you to school. âWhen I see him, Iâm gonnaââ
âYouâre gonna do nothing,â you said pointedly, throwing him a look. He glanced over at you and rolled his eyes, knowing he couldnât argue with you. âI set him straight and now theyâll stop bothering us. And anyway, the best revenge is to be together forever so looks like weâre gonna just have to do that instead.â
Billy laughed and his hand found its way to your bare thigh, fingers brushing your skirt. âThat simple, huh?â
âYep. That simple, Hargrove.â You looked at him. The bruise from that night was pretty faded by now, but there was a new one on his jaw forming from two nights ago. They were becoming less frequent since Billy could stay at yours more often. But you knew that when he went home, he would always end up with one after his dad demanded to know where heâd been. Wanting to keep you away from his dad, heâd never say. Heâd make up some lie or be vague and his dad didnât like that. It was becoming a vicious cycle.
You said, âYou canât get rid of me and I canât get rid of them, so looks like weâre all just going to have to make do for the rest of our lives.â
He pulled up into the parking lot of Hawkins High and stopped the car, turning in his seat to look at you. He admired everything about you but especially at this time in the morning, when the sun was still rising in the sky and shone perfectly on your hair, making it glow. He thought you were beautiful. Heavenly, almost. How was he so lucky that someone as wonderful as you cared about someone like him?
âBilly,â you said softly, pulling from his darkening thoughts. You saw right through him. Saw where his mind had been wandering. âI love you, stupid.â
He grinned. âLove you too, sweetheart. Army of protective kids and all.â

jason doesn't know - eddie munson x reader
pairing:Â eddie x fem!reader
summary:Â you're seeing eddie behind jason's back and he doesn't know. yet (based on scotty doesn't know)
length:Â 3.1k (i got really into this omg)
warnings:Â 18+ minors DNI! repeated mentions of cheating, fingering, oral (f and m receiving), lots of sex references, mentions of alcohol, mentions of drugs, cursing
a.n:Â seriously guys this whole thing is about cheating so be warned, lots of angst, smut, pining and fluff though. also i dont think jason is this much of an asshole irl but this is just for plot. and i highly recommend listening to scotty doesn't know by lustra for this! (set during ep 1 of s4 - the hellfire club)
Scotty doesn't know that Fiona and me do it in my van every Sunday//She tells him she's in church but she doesn't go//Still she's on her knees and Scotty doesn't knowâŚ
This was the third week in a row youâd been late to meet Jason. It was Sunday and he had just finished basketball practice with his friends ready for the upcoming game. It had happened slowly. You started forgetting what time you were meant to meet up, or showing up looking thoroughly dishevelled which pissed Jason off to no end. Now, youâd simply not shown up.
He glances around the empty parking lot of school, his friends shrugging at him when he asks, âHas anyone seen Y/N?â
âI dunno, man,â one of them says noncommittally. âItâs Sunday, maybe sheâs in church?â
Jason hums. Your family were religious, that was true. And sometimes you tagged along to keep up appearances, but he knew you didnât really enjoy it too much. But you did it for your family, because you loved them. So maybe you did just forget about today and went with them to church instead. Jason chooses to believe that and decides to catch up with you tomorrow at school. He knows thereâll be a rational explanation.
You pant, breathless, as Eddie removes his fingers from your aching core. His brown eyes are blown wide with longing and he grinned at how fucked out you look already. âThat good, huh?â he teases you and you roll your eyes, sitting up in the back of his van.
This was common practice. You knew it was wrong, cheating on Jason, but it had happened accidentally. Youâd bumped into Eddie at a party where he was dealing and Jason was off talking to some girl or doing a keg stand. Youâd been bored out of your mind, waiting for Jason to pay some attention to you, when you had physically fallen for Eddie Munson. Well, into, but he still made the joke, smiling at you earnestly. In truth, heâd had a crush on you for years and the way you looked in those high waisted shorts and tank top that left little to the imagination, wellâit was only a matter of time before he was leading you out to his van.
Where you met up every Sunday when you told Jason youâd be in church.
âYour turn,â you say to Eddie, nudging his legs until heâs sat up, you on your knees in front of him.
âLucky me,â he sighs, watching you contentedly. You were his dream girl and he couldnât believe his luck. Still, you had asked him to keep it quiet until school ended and you could end things with Jason without him being too much of an asshole. He was leaving for college, you were staying here. You could cut ties with him forever and keep Eddie safe from the basketball idiots Jason hung around with.
But neither of you could keep your hands of each other. It was a different kind of love to what you had once felt with Jason. When you first met, Jason made you feel like you were in a fairytale, showering you with gifts and taking you out everywhere, showing you off to the world. But then it turned sour and you realised you were more like a trophy than supposedly the love of his life. He didnât listen to what you had to say, expecting you to sit back and be a good little house wife.
And Eddie was the opposite. He was entranced by the way you could speak for hours about a topic that interested you. He made you feel like the only person in the world that mattered, making sure you were okay above all else. He wanted to keep you safe, but never once in a possessive way. And the sexâ
âYeah,â you smirk. âLucky you.â
He groans as you tie your hair up the way he likes, knowing heâll be holding onto it soon. His eyes roll into the back of his head as you start to blow him, knowing all the ways to make him squirm until heâs forcing your head down and making you gag. This was the only place, in the confines of his van (or sometimes your bedroom and his trailer) that he could be in charge. And you would let him, enjoying every single second of Eddie making you his.
You just wish you could shout it to the whole of Hawkins.
Fiona says she's out shopping//But she's under me and I'm not stoppingâŚ
âHow long does it take to shop?â Jason mutters, checking his watch. He was with his friends (again) and the film was starting in ten minutes. Heâd arranged a big date between the team and their girlfriends, expecting you to be there as Hawkins Highâs It Couple. Youâd agreed immediately and called him this morning telling him that he didnât need to pick you up since you were going shopping with Robin to find an outfit that would make everyone jealous that you two were together. Youâd meet him at the theatre.
Yet here he was, waiting and watching his friends with their girlfriends file into the cinema to take their seats and heâs left waiting by the doors. He glances around. Itâs darkâmaybe you got lost? You didnât drive, claiming that you preferred it when Jason drove you around and he loved it too, so maybe you took a wrong turn in the dark. But then your mom normally drives you when heâs not aroundâso where were you?
Five minutes to the movie. If he doesnât go now, heâll miss the movie. He shakes his head, not even thinking for a minute that you were somewhere else, with someone else. He just chalks it down to you being forgetful or busy. Lately, youâd been spending a lot of your time studying or daydreaming, your mind elsewhere. Your finals were coming up and you were preoccupied. He got that. He just wish it didnât look so bad on him when you stand him up.
He walks into the theatre alone.
Your fingernails scratch down Eddieâs back and his eyelids flutter closed at the sensation of it as he pounds into you. His pick necklace falls onto your bare chest and he loves the sight of it, the sight of you naked underneath him, writhing in pleasure.
âGod, princess, youâre gonna make me cum just looking this pretty,â he moans into your neck as he peppers you with kisses.
âEddie,â you breathe, butterflies fluttering in your stomachâfrom the compliment or the way his cock was repeatedly slamming in and out of you, you donât know. Either way, you know that this feeling here, this pure bliss, is the only way you want to feel for the rest of your life. You could happily spend all your days sharing a joint with Eddie and going at it all day long.
And itâs not just about the sex. Itâs him in general that you love. Some days you just come over to his trailer to hang out and watch a movie together. You could never watch a horror movie with Jason, but Eddie loves them and insists on showing you all the cult classics that heâs adamant youâll love too. He lays in bed with you in his arms sometimes and reads to you, Stephen King or Tolkien or even just his newest D&D campaign, wanting your approval.
For five weeks, youâve been keeping this part of yourself a secret from everybody. Robin was the only person who knew (and probably Steve, by extension) and she covered for you when you asked, without question. She knew the difficult position you were in. Robin didnât judgeâshe was in between a rock and a hard place herself.
But all of you just wants to be free now, to spend your time with Eddie without guilt gnawing at you.
âHey, princess,â Eddieâs voices brings you back to the moment. You blink and smile up at him. Heâs stopped moving, concern written all over his face. âYou alright, baby?â
You nod enthusiastically. âPerfect, Eds,â you tell him honestly, wrapping your legs around his waist, pulling him in even deeper causing you both to groan. âJust fuck me. Please?â
You donât have to ask him twice.
I can't believe he's so trusting//While I'm right behind you thrustingâŚ
You cancel your date, telling Jason you had to help out your friend Steve at work. You were at Family Video, alright, only in the stockroom, with Eddie fucking you from behind, his hand on your mouth to keep you quiet. Thank god for friends like Robin, you had thought as she ushered you into the back without her manager knowing.
Fiona's got him on the phone//And she's trying not to moan//It's a three-way call and he knows nothingâŚ
âThat sounds g-great, babe!â you tell Jason down the phone enthusiastically. âIâm so happy for you.â
Heâd called you when he knew youâd be home from school, telling you all about practice today. You knew he was waiting for an invitation over, butâŚ
Eddieâs head was between your thighs, occasionally grinning at you as you bit your lip to stop from moaning. He was palming himself through his jeans at how risky this was, going down on you while you were on the phone to your boyfriend. But he couldnât help teasing you and you sure seem to be loving it as he feels you clench around his fingers. Instead of hanging up, you keep the game going, loving it as much as Eddie is.
But god, this was dangerous.
The parkin' lot, why not? It's so cool when you're on topâŚ
You grind down into Eddieâs lap, your fingers tangled in his hair. His lips are so soft and you just want to feel them all over youâyour mouth, your jaw, your neck, your chest. You canât get enough of him. And in the two months youâve been seeing Eddie, the game has become riskier. Hellfire Club finally knew and youâd sworn them all to secrecy at the end of tonightâs meetingâchoosing tactfully to keep Lucas in the dark. You couldnât risk him telling Jason. Not yet.
It was almost Spring Break. Maybe youâd move your schedule up a bit and tell him then. By summer, you and Eddie would be free.
But for now, it was this. It was riding him in his van in the parking lot, knowing that Jason was around for basketball. But Eddie had been so animated in Hellfire that you couldnât wait until you guys were homeâyou had to have him there and then. And he certainly wasnât complaining as he came hard inside of you, loving the filthy idea of his cum being inside Jason Carverâs girlfriend. Because you werenât Jasonâs at allâyou were his.
I did her on his birthdayâŚ
Jason threw a huge party for his birthday, inviting the whole school.
âPlease come, Eddie!â you begged, turning over in his bed to look at him. He was gorgeous in every way. His eyes were huge and emotive, his hair was wild and soft. He made you feel safe, especially in moments like this when you both napped off the hot spring in his bed together after helping him study for a test. Jason was all muscle and hard edges and clean cut. Eddie was raw and real and he knew you more than you could ever expected.
âI donât know, princess,â Eddie says warily. âYou sure you wanna be around me and the freaks on pretty boyâs birthday?â
You roll your eyes. âEds, itâll be like the first party when we hooked up. Heâll be busy with the boys and the girls, and Iâll be able to sneak you into the bathroom and make hot, wild love to you.â You smile at him innocently.
He coughs, laughing lightly. âFuck, sweetheart, you canât say shit like that. Gonna make me fall in love with you.â More than I already have, he thinks.
âWell, if you come, maybe Iâll fall in love with you.â More than I already have, you think.
It takes him a second and then he concedes, âFine. But Iâm gonna sell while Iâm there.â
You snort, a sound he loves. âFine by me.â
And youâd kept your promise, your legs wrapped around Eddie as he lifted you up against the bathroom wall, taking you hard and fast with only the loud music of Madonna to cover your desperate pants and moans as you came together.
Scotty will know//Scotty doesn't know//Scotty's gotta knowâŚ
You stay at Jasonâs that night, lying beside him. He passed out immediately, nowhere near sober enough to even try anything with you, which you were grateful for. You lay awake, watching him sleep. He has a lipstick mark on his shirt and you wonder which girl gave him that. Was it innocent? You bet it was Chrissy Cunningham. You knew heâd had a crush on her before deciding he wanted you instead.
Good, you think. Maybe when you finally leave him, he can find solace in her. Maybe find someone who can love him like you canât. The way you love Eddie.
I'm gonna tell Scotty Gonna tell him myself.
It takes three months for you to finally tell Jason.
Itâs a school day and Eddie had kept you up all night with good weed and good music and now you were a zombie. It was the championship game tonight and you were expected to be there, to support Jason. But Eddie had told you all about the end of his âCult of Vecnaâ campaign and you wanted nothing more than to tag along and watch the whole thing.
Your leg bounces beneath the table, anxious. Itâs too much now. You canât hold it in. The secret is slowly killing you, keeping you from sleeping, from breathing. You canât do it anymore. And you know itâs not fair on Jason, bad as your relationship is.
âWhat is that freak up to now?â Jason mutters as he sets down his lunch tray. You look up, your eyes falling on Eddie climbing onto his table across the cafeteria. Oh, god.
âProbably nothing,â you say causally. âTell me about the game plan.â
You try to distract Jason from Eddie, but it doesnât work as Eddie shouts, âBut as long as you're into band or science orââ he sneers ââparties. Or a game where you toss balls into laundry baskets!â His eyes fall onto your table, where Jason stands up ready to fight. He watches you bite your lip, worried for him and his heart throbs. God, he loves you so much. He just needs you to leave that asshole and you could be his, officially.
Jason catches you watching him and his girlfriend. âYou want something freak?â
Y/N, he almost says. He catches himself, your eyes wide, and he pulls a face at Jason instead, turning around so he canât see him anymore. Anything to get that idiot of his head. Anything to stop him going over there and taking you in front of everyone.
Jason sits down and spits out, âWhat a freak, I feel like he just cursed me.â His friends all laugh, boosting Jasonâs ego, but you press your lips together. Jason notices you not laughing and nudges you. âY/N? I said he probably just cursed me.â He waits for you to laugh, but you donât.
You swallow. âI donât think it was that funny.â You say and you feel everyoneâs eyes on you. Jason turns on the bench until heâs facing you.
âY/N, what the hell?â Jason asks, his voice low. He doesnât want to make a scene in front of his friends. To them, you have the perfect relationship. Top Jock and Good Girl, both from good families, both socially acceptable, both popular and attractive. Your eyes flick back to Eddie. Eddie, who has no money, no big house in the suburbs, no perfect GPA, no popularity. Eddie who likes metal and horror and has a band and plays D&D. Eddie, whoâs branded a freak for being different.
You suddenly feel like you canât breath.
âY/N? Jason presses. âWhat the hell is wrong with you lately?â You look up, his eyes meeting yours. So heâs noticed your absence, finally, it seems. And now heâs had enough. Well, so have you as he begins to lecture you. âYouâre hardly around anymore, you donât come to games, you show up looking like trash, you donât listen to me at all. Who are you?â
âYou know what,â you say, loud enough for people around the cafeteria to notice. Youâre causing a scene now, good girl be damned. Youâre not going to sit still and look pretty for Jason Carver anymore. âFuck this.â You stand up from the table, swinging your bag onto your shoulder. From across the room, Eddie and his club look up. Now everyoneâs attention is on you.
âWhat?â Jason stands up, eyes wide.
âFuck this,â you repeat, taking a deep breath. âAnd fuck you, Jason.â
You move to walk past him but he grabs your arm and turns you back to face him. âDonât do this to me, Y.N,â he says dangerously. Heâs embarrassed and angry and you can feel it. If you sit down and apologise, everything will go back to normal. You can still save this relationship. âDonât make me look bad.â
You laugh bitterly. âThere is is,â you say, shaking your arm free of his grip. âI donât care if you look bad.â
âI swear to fucking god, Y/Nââ he begins but you wave an arm.
âSave it. You donât wanna look bad? You donât wanna be embarrassed?â Your voices raises and Eddie stands from his table slowly. Everyone is staring. Everyone is waiting, shocking. You look around and then finally at Jason again, pointing to Eddie at his table. âIâve been fucking Eddie Munson behind your back for three months, Jason. And guess whatâI love him. I love him, do you hear me? So you can get fucked.â
Several people gasped. Jasonâs mouth fell open and his friends lose it. You donât wait for Jasonâs reaction as you turn your back on him for good and walk over to Eddieâs table. He grins at you and presses a chaste kiss to your forehead. âWell, that was certainly dramatic,â he says by way of greeting, pulling a chair up so you can sit next to him.
âYou should join Hellfire,â Dustin says immediately, impressed by your balls as you sit down.
You laugh. âMaybe thatâs enough dramatics for the time being,â you say and the cafeteria falls back into its same old routine. Only now you donât have to hide when Eddieâs hand finds yours on the table and squeezes three times, making your heart soar:
I love you.

You are my sunshine, my only sunshineâŚ
It had become your song, somehow. In the two years of knowing him and one year of being together, you had somehow confessed to Eddie that your favourite song was actually You Are My Sunshine, from all the way back in 1940. You think you must have told him after one of your many smoke sessions, brain clouded and relaxed thanks to his pot and it came tumbling out.
When he had laughed at you, your face had scrunched up and you had whined, âEddie, my parents used to sing this to me! I think itâs a lovely song!â
âUh huh, sure it is, sunshine,â he had grinned back and then the nickname had stuck. Sunshine. You were each otherâs sunshine and you told each other often. From then on, it became a thing between the pair of you, none of your friends understanding. And even though the memory of telling him was hazy, the feeling that the pair of you felt when you called each other âsunshineâ wasnât. That was very real.
You make me happy, when skies are greyâŚ
He sang it to you on days you were struggling with your brain, or a stressful day at school. Anytime you were sad or on the verge of tears, Eddie would pull you onto his lap, wrap his arms around you and sing the lyrics softly, his mouth pressed into your hair. He would hold you for the whole night if you needed it, finishing the song and starting all over again while you relaxed in his arms, fiddling with his rings to distract your brain.
âYou okay, sunshine?â He would ask you when you finally took a deep breath and broke out of his embrace. His eyes were always so concerned, scanning your entire body for any signs of lingering sadness.
You braved a smile and nodded. âAlways, Eds.â And you were always fine - after Eddie sung to you. Maybe it was because it was a soft, almost lullaby song rather than the usual metal Eddie performed with Corroded Coffin, or maybe it was the fact that it was Eddie, your Eddie, singing your song that simply melted you. This soft side, this gentle Eddie was something reserved for only you. Sure, he cared about his boys, especially Dustin and Mike, but he was different with you. It was like, at school the world saw Eddie as what he felt he had to be, the âfreakâ, the âSatanistâ, but at home in his trailer, with you by his side, he was simply himself. And god, would he do anything for you.
Youâll never know dear, how much I love youâŚ
Your whole world flipped upside down the day Chrissy died in Eddieâs trailer. You had stayed at home that night and had hated yourself for it when the news broke the next morning: Chrissy Cunningham was dead and the main suspect was Eddie Munson. Your Eddie. It hadnât been announced to the public yet but you knew what would happen when it did. The whole town would believe that Eddie killed her and the man hunt would begin. But you knew better than that. Eddie couldnât hurt a fly let alone a whole person.
Jason and his team found you first. You werenât friends with them by any means, and they practically branded you as a freak too for being Eddieâs girl, but they didnât pick on you as much. You always suspected it was because your parents and Jasonâs were friends and he had to lay off you a bit. But that didnât stop him questioning you a few days after Chrissyâs death. There was a knock on your door and youâd been home alone so you answered it, thinking it would be a reporter or a cop asking you more questions about Eddie that you didnât know the answer to.
Instead, you found Jason and his band of idiots. âOh,â you had said, keeping the door open only a sliver. âWhat do you want?â
He was angry, that much you could tell. And fair enough, his girlfriend was being called a druggie and had been found dead in your boyfriendâs trailer. Youâd be pissed too. You understood. But what you didnât like it when they forced themselves into your house and ignored your protests, surrounding you like a pack of dogs.
âWhat the hell, Jason!â You seethed. âGet out of my house.â
âNot until you tell me where he is,â he had demanded, scarily calm. His hands shook but his voice was steady. If he found EddieâŚhe would kill him.
You shook your head. âI told the police already, I donât know. I havenât seen him since the day Chrissyâwell, you know. I saw him at school and then I went home.â Jason couldnât take no for an answer at first, and it took ten minutes of you repeating yourself and demanding he leave before he did. The way he looked at you when he left said it all: heâd be back, and youâd better tell him what he wanted to know. Well, fuck that, you thought.
So you teamed up with Dustin and the gang after they sought you out to ask if you knew where Eddie would be. Your frazzled brain took a long time to figure it out but it seemed obvious once you knew. Of course heâd be at Reefer Rickâs. It was the only place he could go without being found since Rick was in jail and you and the group went over immediately.
When you eventually found Eddie, your heart broke. He was pinning Steve up against the wall, his eyes wild and terrified. He hadnât spotted you yet. âEds,â you breathed and he stilled. He let go of Steve and turned to you, his eyes brimming with tears. Yours welled up to and you rushed to him, taking him in your arms. He collapsed into you, exhausted and scared and the group gave you a minute. One of your hands went to his back, the other tangling in his hair and you soothed him.
âItâs okay, sunshine,â you whispered. âIâm here. I believe you.â
That blind faith, that belief that you would never think him capable of what he was accused of, almost made Eddieâs heart break. He loved you so much. What had he done to deserve something as bright as you in his life? You were the sunshine, not him.
Please donât take my sunshine away.
You had all fought so bravely, so hard, and it hadnât mattered in the end. You still lost. You had no idea where the rest of your friends were, all that mattered was that Eddie, your sunshine, was lying on the ground in front of you, gasping for breath. Dustin was crying and panicking, thinking of anything you could do to fix the problem. The problem was that Eddie was dying in your arms and there was nothing you could do to fix it. It was just you and Dustin and Eddie, the three of you staying behind to distract the Demobats while the rest of the gang dealt with Vecna. You presumed they had won because the Demobats had fled but not before they had done their damage.
Eddie had stayed behind, severing the rope between your world and the Upside Down to keep you and Dustin safe. He had run valiantly into battle by himself and by the time you and Dustin had climbed your way back to the Upside Down - him injuring his leg and you your shoulder in the process - it was too late.
âCome on, Eds,â you cried as his eyes fluttered. âStay with me.â
âBad, huh?â he croaked, still cracking jokes.
You blinked hard and the tears rolled down your cheeks. âNo youâre gonna be fine.â Dustin looked at you desperately and you tried to move him, planning on getting him back through the gate and to a hospital in your world. But he couldnât move. He was too weak.
âI didnât run away this time, right?â he asked you both and your heart shattered.
âNo, Eds,â you sobbed. âYou didnât run.â
His brown eyes flicked to Dustin and he told him to look after the âlittle sheepâ and Dustin almost lost it then. The pair of you were crying wrecks and there was no one around. No sign of Steve, Nancy and Robin. No sign of Max, Lucas and Erica coming to help. They must have their own problems. You were utterly alone with the love of your life dying before you.
âI think itâs finally my year,â Eddie said softly and you pressed your mouth together as hard as you could, wincing at the pain. He looked at Dustin. âI love you, man.â
âI love you, too,â Dustin didnât hesitate.
And then Eddieâs eyes turned to you for the very last time. âI love you, Y/N.â
Crying harder, you leaned down and pressed a kiss to his forehead. âI love you, too, sunshine.â As he stilled in your arms, his chest no longer rising and falling, you did the only thing you could think of. You began to sing to him, rocking him gently in your arms. âYou are my sunshine, my only sunshineâŚâ
