You wanted a murder 2011

Performance for: 2011 Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space, 16-26/06/2011 2011 Gwangju Design Biennale (Artistic Directors: Ai WeiWei and Seung H-Sang), 02/09 – 23/10/2011

The performance, ���You wanted a murder”, was conceived in response to an invitation by curatorial collective N as part of the Australian contribution for the 2011 Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space. A set of written instructions describing the performance was given to N who was in charge of executing the script and documenting the action with one single photograph – taken by a team operating a custom-made camera Obscura mounted on a truck.

This performance questions one of the claims made by Bernard Tschumi in his Advertisements for Architecture (1976-1977) series: “To really appreciate architecture you may even need to commit a murder”, further examining, as Tschumi states, “the dissociation between the immediacy of spatial experience and the analytical definition of theoretical concepts”. “You wanted a murder” avoids the usual space of the gallery or theatre and uses the street as a setting. ‘[T]he event’ – a fundamental architectural concept forwarded by Tschumi – is inverted, literally turned against him through the symbolic staging of a murder. The script calls for the character, B.T., to be run over. In doing so, the truck with the camera obscura is not only implicated as the witness but also the weapon.

The performance is significant to the architectural field as it speculates on the death of ‘the event’. The potential of the confrontation between the human body and the physical space is diminishing to the benefit of what Francois Ascher describes in Metapolis (1995) as “hyperplace”: a space with n-dimensions, combining physical and virtual dimensions based on hypertext structure and telecommunications technologies.

Inferiority Complex

INFERIORITY COMPLEX: Everyone @ a point or another "enters" the shoe of inferiority complex, usually it is not deliberately entered, but "somehow" "anyhow" we just find ourselves in such position...

CAUSES: -LACK of money, -Lack of power, -lack of position, -lack of wealth, -lack of experience, -lack of exposure, -post effect of problems/challenges/troubles/trials of faith, -academic background, -environment where 1 lives, -nativity (if one has no prominent/renown figure from d town) -due to immigration -etc

MANIFESTATIONS. It include among others the folowings: 1. Silence where one ought to talk, 2. Running away from what one ought to possess, 3. Inability to take business risks, 4. Inability to take bulls by the horn, 5. Fear of starting something worthwhile/tangible, 6. Fleeing responsibilities, 7. Shabby dressings etc.

PATHOGENESIS (HOW IT IS FORMED AND PROGRESS) Essentially brought about by the followings among others: -reduce secretion of some hormones eg ephinephrine/norepinephrine, -we cant rule out the probability of d impairment of some secretory glands -Long & sharp (what medics called protracted) REBUKE AS it occured to Job in d book of job 13:1-2 he retorted thus "My eyes have seen all this, my ears have heard and understood it. What you know, I also know, I AM NOT INFERIOR TO YOU" (Emphasis mine). The protracted rebuke may have dampened and reduce the actions /functions of the secretory glands,

-the possibility of hyperplacity of the associated organs cannot be brushed aside because they will now need hyperstimulation before they can exert their actions etc

EFFECTS 1. Losing what one should legally and rightly possess, 2. Staying @ a position for a very long time, 3. Inablity to mix with people (low or high calibre) for fear, 4. Shifting responsibilities, 5. Apportioning blame to the wrong places, pp, indeed God for everytin evil dat comes along one's path

TREATMENT 1. Discovering this menace, 2. Recurrent advice in Love to remove the fear n ? hatred in the heart of d person (Job 38-42) 3. Reading the word-Bible- REGULARLY. In 2nd Timothy 1:7 we read dat "For God did not give a spirit of TIMIDITY (FEAR) but a spirit of Power, of LOVE, and of SELF-DISCIPLINE (NIV) 4. Applying what one read in the bible, 5. Asking for God's power/Holy Ghost. 6. Casting out the associated demons out of one's life (Mk 16:14-16) 7. Ask for God's boldness 8. Mix with people 9. Learn from those who are more experienced and exposed 10. Learn how to talk among the congregation or crowd etc
