hilarious story. i am the ultimate sonic fan who never played a sonic game (except for a couple minutes of sonic rush adventure and the briefest hint of sonic riders) SO my favorite games are purely based on story and things like character models rather than gameplay

i swear im a gamer!!! i like playing video games i super plan on picking up frontiers and i wanna play sa2 someday soon

my top 5 in no order at all is probably sonic unleashed (im a werehog enjoyer and i really like how sonic was written overall), sa2 (of course), sonic cd (the presentation i adoooore how fucking weird it is and the anime ova), sonic and the black knight (the WRITING! !! IMMACULATE), and .... i genuinely . like 06 from kind of the conceptual/what could've been standpoint ... some details aside (yes i will make fun of the kiss bc it was just out of pocket enough that i'm like Good God), it had some really great lines and moments and i liked the cutscenes a lot ... might be sa1 though because i adore the final story with perfect chaos and love the fucking WILD character acting. or sonic riders LOL i do love those bigass thick limb models

after a few too many “slip-ups” around you though, kenma made kuroo swear not to breathe a word of his crush to you

christmas time came and, as usual, everyone was abuzz with holiday fever and stress for the upcoming exams:,(

now during exam time, kuroo would often invite kenma to his house to study (even tho they’re in different grades) and this year was no different

except,,,,,, for some reason that some reason being kuroo you were also there??

kuroo and kenma were just sitting there talking about you when, coincidentally, the bell rang and they opened the door to you

“ah glad you could make it y/n ~” kuroo said in a playful tone upon your entrance

kenma knew he was up to something and few moments later, he was proven right

“actually now that you’re here, i got an errand i need to run. you two enjoy studying i’ll be back real quick;3”

you & kenma: “wAIT WHAT?!??” *internally panics at the thought of being alone with each other*

let’s just say the two of you actually managed to do some a lot of studying cuz you two felt too shy to do anything else 

when kuroo came back, he couldn’t say he wasn’t surprised. he knew kenna would’ve been too shy to initiate anything but he figured you might’ve at least had the confidence to say smth

but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ guess you two were more similar than he thought

that just brought him to phase 2 of his grand plan to get you two together

which was to be carried out at the christmas party after exams...

exams were finally over and you felt like a weight had been lifted off your heart. of course, even though the weight of exams were lifted, the weight of… other things, still anchored your heart. as you combed a hand through your hair, you tried your best to ignore those anchors. they weren’t something you were brave enough to do anything about anyway.  

one last look in the mirror and you deemed yourself good enough to leave the house. you weren’t wearing anything fancy or special for the night’s event; just a simple holiday sweater and classic blue jeans. you grabbed your things and headed out, texting your friends telling them that you’ll meet them at the station in a few minutes. 

seconds later, you felt your phone vibrate and pulled it out.

kenma: y/n, are you going to the christmas party?

you: yep, im on my way to the station rn actually.

kenma: oh ok.

you wondered what he wanted, your brain already coming up with tons of possibilities. you quickly shook them out of your head and texted him back.

you: how bout you? are you coming too??

there was a slight delay in his reply and you had to shut your phone to navigate through the small crowd in front of the station. your friends spotted you first and quickly made their way to you. you all boarded the train and found yourselves a few seats towards the back to sit on. checking your phone for the time, you saw Kenma texted back.

kenma: yeah i have no choice. kuro’s making me go TT

you: lol poor you. im sure it’ll be fine tho 

kenma: mmm he’s probably going to ditch me once we get there

you: i’ll stay with you if he ditches you then hahahha

he didn’t reply for a few seconds and internally you were lowkey panicking. as the train came to a halt, your phone lit up again with a message.

kenma: i’ll be glad if you did (:

you started grinning to yourself but before you could type a reply, the train doors opened and you had to pocket your phone to navigate through the crowd leaving and entering the cabin.

the gym was brightly-lit with streamers of all colors, sizes, and fluffiness adorning the walls. a standard-sized christmas tree stood in one corner with a large number of what you presumed to be placebo presents arranged neatly around it.

your eyes scanned the groups of students until finally landing on a lone boy with hair that seemed to shimmer under the christmas lights. to most others, he seemed quiet and reserved. he wasn’t easily approachable, to everyone else at least. 

you walked over and easily struck a conversation. to you, kenma wasn’t someone someone hard to approach or talk to. he was kenma afterall. what was hard, however, was trying to hide your blush every time he smiled at you, trying to keep a neutral face whenever he said your name, and most importantly, making sure your crush on him was not in any way obvious to him.

oblivious to you, he was trying hard to do just the same. and oblivious to the both of you, kuroo had already completed preparations for ‘phase 2 of getting kenma and y/n together’. 

dont give the man too much credit, “preparations” is just a fancy way of saying he found some mistletoe

lucky for kuroo, you two were exactly where he wanted you to be —standing face to face in a quiet corner of the beautifully decorated gym. 

like a large cat sneaking up on it’s prey, kuroo silently made his way towards the two of you.

“hEY ! y/n, kenma,” he said nodding to each of you respectively. “enjoying the party?”

before either of you could answer, kuroo continued talking.

“oH would you look at that.. it seems you two have been caught under some mistletoe~”

he waved his hand holding the mistletoe just above your heads as the both of you started blushing furiously. 

“cmon, you two know what you have to do~ :3” 

you couldn’t think straight. one moment everything was fine with you and kenma, and the next, some big bloke pops up out of nowhere ruining your peace of mind.

nervously, you glanced at kenma. he was staring at the ground with visibly red cheeks. kuroo kept poking him while he attempted to swat kuroo away. of course that didn't work, but it did make you swoon a bit because damn if kenma wasnt really cute right now…

taking a deep breath, you thought to yourself ‘why the heck not?’. before you had the chance to properly think, you took two steps forward and gave kenma a quick peck on the cheek. 

“oh come on y/n,,, you can do better than that~” kuroo teased. 

not even attempting to hide your blush or embarrassment anymore, you looked at kenma and saw he, too, was as red as his volleyball uniform. what struck most was the way he looked back at you. his eyes seemed to mirror yours perfectly. both searching the others for something to just push you off the edge and admit to each other how you felt. 

it seems you two found it as you both leaned in for another kiss, a proper one.

a continuation/ fleshing out of this mess

I changed the premise a little from my original idea but basically,

it’s Damen’s family’s lake house in norcal (yes all the boys are from socal, sue me). At first, it was meant to be a vacation (read: sexcation) for Laurent and Damen but then Laurent’s younger brother, Nicaise (ye that’s a thing im doing) gets shoved off on them and it goes downhill from there.

Nicaise would rather die than spend a week with Damen and Laurent alone so he calls big brother Auguste (he’s in graduate school in seattle or smth ok) to come with them and of course he’s more than happy to go.He can invite some friends, right?? Meanwhile, Damen’s inviting Nik bc he might as well yeah? and eventually it’s a damn party and Damen swears he doesn’t know how it happened ok. He gave the address to like 2 people this wasn’t supposed to happen

Aimeric’s brothers get invited by Auguste so they drag him in too and he’s Not Too Pleased (but he will be later ok this is gonna go well for him) 

But anyways, the drive up is 2 hours in the mini van Damen rents (it’s an embarrassing ordeal tbh. He makes Laurent go with him to get it but he’s no help bc he doesn’t stop laughing whenever Damen tries to get into bc he looks fuckin ridiculous) but Nicaise and Aimeric swear it’s more like 5. There’s a total of 8 people in the car and, as mentioned in the previous post, there is really bad car kareoke. Nicaise has noise blocking headphones but Aimeric has to suffer. He doesn’t admit it but he enjoys himself when they take pity on him and give him the AUX cord for a few miles and he gets to plays Grimes.

so, like, this caravan of teenage boys end up showing up in this tiny town where Damen’s lake house is. The town is pretty used to a spring break rush but damn. They get into town and then this happens

they meet a boy named Erasmus who is just super hecking cute and nice. he works at the corner drug store and Aimeric goes in for pain killers (the most obnoxious car kareoke is taking place and Nik and Damen are relentless) and he takes one look at Erasmus greeting him at the counter and he’s like ‘shit he’s cute’ ((and i guess im shipping Erasmus and Aimeric?? can i do that?? im gonna do that)) and he flirts with him and gets his number and Aimeric gets back to everyone like “ok dont look now but i got a cute cashier’s number” and ofc they drag him back into the corner store  so they can get a good look at Erasmus and Erasmus is blushng bc he usually doesnt attract much attention at all in his tiny town now all these teenage boys are gawking at him

 So, the week goes by in a wholesome blur of small lake town shenanigans led by Erasmus but mostly instigated by Aimeric. Nik and Auguste go with them if only to ensure limbs aren’t broken and no one ends up arrested, leaving Laurent and Damen to their original plans ;) 

when the sun starts to go down, they all meet back up at the lake shore and small things like this occur

everyone else is wreaking teenage boy havoc and Auguste tries to get Nicaise to catch crawdads with him but after nicaise gets snapped at a few times he gets frustrated and Laurent can tell he’s losing his patience and so he picks him up and puts him on his shoulders and he starts fighting with Nik who’s on Dame’s shoulders and Nicaise is laughing and having a good time and Nik is pretty easy on him obvs but Nicaise plays dirty and almost gets the better of Nik before he puts an end to it and it’s gOOD WHOLESOME FUN OK

Other things that probably happen that week:

 Damen and Laurent stargaze on the roof while everyone is asleep

Aimeric gets stuck sleeping in the bathtub bc he knows he’s not winning any fight for a couch or chair

(but it’s ok bc he starts going to Erasmus’s house in the night and tosses rocks at his window till he lets him in and it’s stupid romantic)

Aimeric and Erasmus fall for each other in the course of the week

Auguste manages to get Nicaise to go fishing with him, which turns out badly bc Nicaise has no patience for the outdoors and happens to get terrible motion sickness in the boat

Damen and Laurent get pitted against each other in a cock fight and it’s the most intense thing you ever did see. it ends up going on so long that Nik gets tired of having Damen on his shoulders, he just throws him off, giving Laurent the win

Dispite his disagreements with nature, Nicaise finds a frog and captures it in a jar and does research on it for a whole day before deciding it’s better off in the lake and lets it go.

Aimeric and Erasmus go on a sort of breakfast date at a local diner that Erasmus likes

However, when Friday starts to roll around, Damen begins to notice an influx of college and high school kids driving in and they all look really familiar...? and as it turns out Nik and Auguste and Aimeric’s brothers have been texting everyone they know telling everyone that there’s gonna be a spring break party up at “that little lake town in norcal” which is so fucking generic in description and situation it makes Damen cringe

When Damen starts to realize how many of their friends/ vague acquaintances are there to apparently ‘get lit at Damianos’ place’. He’s not like, pissed but he’s very upfront. “Ok cool, so we’re gonna party but there’s a few things: A) Bring Your Own Shit. Your own food, your own drinks, your own bedding if you’re planning on crashing on my floor. B) Speaking of sleeping, there are two beds in the lake house. The first one belongs to Laurent and me. I catch you in there, I’m kicking ur ass out. The second bed is for Nicaise. He’s capable of murdering you if you bother him so don’t. Couches for Nik and Auguste. Everyone else, a motel or the floor”. ofc no one tries to argue w/ him on that bc he can obviously just throw you out into the lake and then ur fucked

There’s cheap beer and some craft beer and Laurent turns his nose up at all of it but finds pleasure in watching Damen get tippsy. Nicaise goes around trying to get drunk teens to take pity on him and give him a drink but Auguste keeps busting him and so the younger boy just gives up and switches to trying to scam drunk teens for money. Auguste lets him do that. 

There’s also loud music and dancing on the deck and Lazar pushes Pallas into the lake then someone pushes Lazar into the lake and there’s cursing but also kissing. Erasmus is there and a bit overwhelmed but still having fun and Aimeric takes him to his room (read: bathroom) and they sip a beer someone left unattended and cringe about how shitty it tastes and they kiss in Aimeric’s bathtub/bed and forget about the beer altogether and it’s rlly sweet.

3. how long have you been a sonic fan?

oh god okay so my sonic origin story is that when i was around 11 or 12 i caught some of satam then ended up binging all of it, then found out that it half continues in the comic series and binged ALL of archie (by that point they were at least 220+ issues in along with the side series like sonic universe, so when i say all i meant ALL of it) ... so by all technicalities it's been a little over a decade now

back then tho i didn't do anything like draw or look for fanart or read fics specifically for sonic (aka like, "fandom consumption" i suppose), so it feels kinda weird to say it's been that long even tho it's true !! i saw a weird little blue guy sayin shit like "way past cool" and "gotta juice" and i was like oh i have to find out what his deal is actually

4. favorite male characters?

sonic characters are forever playing spinball in my brain to determine who's my favorite but im what you call a basic bastard and tend to enjoy main characters/protags/main cast of most media i consume and sonic is no different (ofc there are times where side charas become my favorite but. well. not this series)

5. favorite female characters?

when i was younger i thought blaze was so fucking cool, i would always pick to play as her for mario and sonic at the olympic games LMAOO she was by far my favorite kinda overall as a child ...

now im a misogynist /j i just tend to like a lot of the male cast over the female cast (which. well. it doesn't help that there's a lot more male characters and a lot more focus on them anyhow) the comics really tend to add a lot more cool female charas to help that out... i fucking Love bunnie and sally still, tangle and whisper from idw have really been getting up there + surge's design is so good

6. favorite games?

shy emoji i already answered this one with my confession i haven't played any sonic games hehe. teehee. tho i suppose if u count the olympic games one that's the only one on my resume for realsies so far </3 my favorites are based on plot and stuff like visuals .... i'm expecting sonic frontiers to become my first sonic game but i've also been meaning to play sa2 on steam whenever i get the video game urge again i've been slacking as a gamer

27. what do you like about the fandom?

sonic fandom is like. notorious. as we all know GJKLDGAS so i like to poke fun and stuff about it pretty often ... especially the more gamerbro side of it (the side that instantly panned frontiers as shit based on the first footage we ever saw of it that only really showed a bit of environment and movement. u know)

but it's genuinely such a passionate fanbase, like the sheer amount of fans and the amount of fanworks is always so astounding to me. it's notorious but that's probably because people care so much yknow ... people feel things A Lot for sonic as a series. if someone told me sonic has the most video game mods and fangames Ever i would fully believe that

+ fanart, fics, WHOLE animations and animated series and like the fucking sonic and tails radio my beloved and stuff ... so much is made every day even during lull periods between games or nothing rlly happening. crazy shit! people LOVE that goddamn hedgehog!!! so many people like it enough to MAKE stuff for him!!!!!! insanity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
