Like Akutagawa being horribly in love with Atsushi so much he hates him for it, and Atsushi trying to fight any feelings he develops for Akutagawa because he's so conflicted between his good vs evil ideology, and his desire to "save" and love him.

And Atsushi seeing Akutagawa so practically pathetic in his devotion, seeing Atsushi as some sort of angelic savior, triggers that savior complex despite how much he wants to show Akutagawa he shouldn't put people on such pedestals.

I just think old habits would die hard, if that makes sense
