I've been working on this since.... September? And I have been trying to piece it together like legos for two months now, and I've finally just decided to give up and leave it as is.
If you've ever wanted to read The Locked Tomb but were scared off by the worldbuilding and the terminology, this is for you.

Escort part 3
Part One, Part Two
He couldn't believe he just did that. If the feel of John's lips wasn't so fresh on his own, Kaidan would wonder if he had just imagined it. But no, he definitely kissed John and then panicked and jumped into the nearest taxi. He felt ridiculous but asking the driver to turn around seemed almost worse so he sat in the car and waited to get home.
This evening was just supposed to be hanging out with John like they did the first time the man acted as his escort. They flirted a bit but Kaidan found he was comfortable doing that with John. There was something friendly and teasing about it. And he just liked talking to John. The man was interesting-- confident, charming, funny, easy-going. Attractive qualities in Kaidan's mind.
I don't get paid to be attracted to you. Kaidan didn't usually go into these sorts of things so impulsively, but he had then. He sighed, paying the driver as he got out of the car. Hopefully John would just forget about the whole thing. When he opened his door Kaidan found he had a message waiting for him.
Kaidan, you left in a hurry. Wanted to make sure you got home all right. J
He looked at the time stamp and saw that John sent it while Kaidan was in the taxi. He didn't know where the man lived but didn't think he could've possibly gotten there that quickly. John must have used a public terminal to send the message. Kaidan stared at the words a long time trying to think of how to respond.
I'm home now. Sorry to worry you.
That was simple enough. He needed to do something to calm down, though. He started with undressing: removing his shoes, pulling off his jersey, and setting the kettle to make some herbal tea. He heard a chime letting him know he had a new message.
It's all right. You aren't the first one to panic.
Great. Not really the impression he wanted to leave this on. But Kaidan couldn't really explain what happened to himself, let alone John. Maybe he did panic, but not for the reasons John was implying. Kaidan's sexual preference never really depended on gender; he was more attracted to personality. If he had to pin down a reason, it was because it hit him just how often John was probably kissed. And there was proof right there in the message: “You aren't the first one to panic”. Meaning John was kissed before by guys who ran for those other reasons.
I didn't pay you.
There, that felt safe. The tea was ready so Kaidan poured a cup and took a sip. The warm liquid felt soothing. He got through the whole cup before John sent a new message.
Feed me and we'll call it even.
Kaidan laughed at the words. Yes, he could do that, and he sent a message saying as much. He poured another cup of tea feeling like maybe this evening wouldn't become a complete disaster, after all. John sent him another message. Was he just sitting somewhere with a public terminal? Or maybe between the messages he made it home, after all. Kaidan opened the message and his heart stopped.
Coming over.
Shit, John was coming now? That wasn't what Kaidan meant! He almost sent a message telling John not to come but stopped. It was just a meal; they did as much already. Kaidan took a breath and hunted down something to put on as he had no intention of welcoming John in his underwear. He felt decently put together by the time he heard the knock at his door.
“Nice outfit,” John commented when Kaidan answered the door. It was really hard to tell if the man was teasing or being sincere. Kaidan stepped aside to allow him entrance.
“I hope you like stir fry, because I haven't been to the store in a while.”
“It's fine.” John settled on the couch. “Mind if I turn on some music?” Kaidan waved his permission and John started messing around with the audio system. He eventually settled on something he liked. Kaidan listened as he threw together some things for their stir fry.
“That's a nice song,” he mused.
“It's called 'Vigil',” John told him. “It's one of my favorites.” Kaidan let the music drift over him as he cooked. He felt even more ridiculous now for running off. Being around John was so easy. It was the reason the man came to mind when Kaidan ended up with the extra ticket. A few more songs played and the two silently listened. But to Kaidan it didn't feel like an uncomfortable silence.
He divided the food onto two plates and poured some water glasses. He set them up at the table across from each other. A new song started playing.
“What's this one called?” he wondered.
“Ah.” John froze halfway into his seat. “I'm not sure.” He sank down and became very intent on eating. Kaidan listened thoughtfully. There was something about this song he couldn't quite put his finger on. He tried to make note of the tune so he could look it up later. “You're a good cook,” John spoke up.
“Don't get home-cooked meals often?”
“I'd say never. I never knew my parents so no 'home' growing up, and I've lived off military rations ever since I joined the Alliance. Except for when I'm on shore leave and then I just go out.”
“You're an orphan?” John had said it so casually that Kaidan felt expressing any sympathy wasn't necessary. “Where did you grow up?” he asked instead.
“The streets, mostly. Didn't always have a roof over my head. It's still a little weird sometimes when I'm off-duty and I can just go to the same place to sleep.” Kaidan took a bite to save himself from trying to find anything to say to that. “Sorry,” John apologized, “I don't usually get so personal with people.”
“Why not?” Kaidan wondered. “They get pretty personal with you, don't they?”
“True,” John agreed. “Just makes the job easier.” Kaidan mulled this over while they continued the meal. He gathered the dishes when they were done and set them in the washer to clean.
“So,” he ventured. “Have you ever dated someone? I mean, without being paid?”
“Sure. I wouldn't really call my first sexual experience a 'date'; just messing around with another street kid. Had a girlfriend when I first enlisted. Then I was with this guy for a while. Neither of them were very serious. I'm liking this one so far, though.”
“This... what?” Kaidan blinked at him.
“The date,” John clarified. Kaidan gaped at him. Was John teasing him? “Kaidan, you asked me out and kissed me. It's been a few years but I'm pretty sure that's a date.”
“It wasn't... intentional.” But shit, John was right. John shifted a little closer while still giving Kaidan some room.
“I won't do anything you don't want, Kaidan. But I would like to kiss you goodnight.”
“All right,” he agreed, though he didn't want the evening to be over already. John leaned into him and pressed their lips together. His mouth was just firm enough for Kaidan to feel the shape but soft enough for him to move his own lips in response. This time the contact lasted as their lips moved against each other in a gentle exploration.
It kept going, breaking only long enough for them to take quick breaths. Kaidan tried not to think about the other people who kissed John like this before. This night was his. He was a little surprised John was still keeping a distance between them. Kaidan rested his hands on John's arms, moving them down to the man's wrists and pulling his hands forward to touch Kaidan's body.
“Kaidan,” John breathed. “I'm prepared for you if you want me.”
“You're 'prepared'?” Kaidan echoed.
“To be fucked. Sometimes my clients--”
“John,” Kaidan interrupted, “I really don't want to hear about your clients right now.” John gave him a soft peck on the mouth as apology and they fell into the embrace again. “You were hoping I would want to fuck you tonight?” Kaidan asked after a few more minutes of kissing.
“I thought about fucking you, too,” John admitted. “Whichever way you like it.”
“Which way do you like it?” Kaidan countered. He moved his lips to brush the stubble along John's jaw. The other man tilted his head up slightly and Kaidan moved his mouth lower. John let out a soft groan and shuddered slightly.
“Kaidan.” This time he said the name in a groan. “I want you to fuck me, please.” Kaidan paused the kisses, pressing his face against the crook of John's neck. There was no denying a part of him wanted to.
“Just kiss me, John.” He felt the man's fingers gently grip his chin and lift his face up to do just that. John was such a good kisser. Of course he is. Kaidan felt a slight shift as he bumped up against a cabinet. They hadn't even made it out of the kitchen yet.
“Couch?” John suggested. Kaidan let out a hot breath.
“Do all your goodnight kisses take this long?”
“I thought you said you didn't want to hear about my clients,” John hummed. His eyes met Kaidan's, the shade of those blue orbs looking slightly darker. Kaidan swallowed and closed his eyes so he could think properly.
“Yeah. I... I'm just nervous, and I was teasing you to lighten the mood.” He felt John's fingers touch his chin and tilt his head for yet another kiss. He could get addicted to that.
“To be honest, Kaidan, I'm keeping this going because I don't want the night to end.”
“Me neither,” he gulped.
“So couch?” He made some sort of noise that John must have taken as agreement. Still holding Kaidan, John maneuvered them over to the couch. Kaidan sank down onto the cushions and John immediately slid down in his lap, fingers pushing through his hair as their lips connected again. Shit.
“Slower,” Kaidan gasped. John slid back off again without protest and they resumed from there. “I'm not ready for that yet.”
“Lucky I like kissing you,” John commented. Kaidan laughed shakily. John grinned and tilted his head back in a silent plea. Kaidan still didn't want to think too much about John with other people, especially fucking other people. He pressed his lips against John's throat and worked the flesh so the marks he left behind stood out just a little more.

Retrievers - XXXVI - Spray Paint
Russia wakes up slowly the next morning to an empty bed and shadows behind the half-closed bedroom curtains. He sleepily turns over and reaches to the rumpled sheets.
He finds that they're cold.
The alarm clock offers a time of 4:37 AM. Russia stumbles up, throws on a shirt over the painful to rub against burn scars, and sleepily goes downstairs.
He looks around through squinted eyes and spots America sitting on the couch, watching TV. Russia couldn't hear the audio. Russia grumbles. He wanders over and America jumps when they make eye contact.
"Oh. Sorry if I woke you up," America stammers, "I'm just too fidgety to sleep long."
Russia shrugs and crawls onto the couch.
"Can I sit with you?" Russia asks, not bothering to adjust his accent.
"Sure," America replies.
Russia reaches too far forward, and he recoils as he feels the scar tissue across his chest throb as it's stretched.
"Are you okay?" America asks, panicked.
"Yeah," Russia hisses, "the burn is just tighter than normal."
America nods before standing up. Russia grunts in frustration and pain. He resists the urge to scratch at it, knowing it would only damage the area more. America disappears into the kitchen. If there is any rustling in the other room, Russia doesn't notice most of it. He does jump when something is dropped onto the counter.
America reappears soon after, holding a tub of something. America sits down in the corner of the couch and opens the package. It doesn't smell like much, but it does raise Russia's curiosity.
"What is that?" Russia asks, curled into a ball on the cushions.
"Some petroleum jelly. It'll help with some of the pain. Come here, I'll help you."
Russia relents, and sleep clouds his thoughts. He shuffles forward and lies across America's lap. America pulls up his shirt and rubs the stuff onto his chest. Russia shivers and closes his eyes. The irritation begins to fade, and the itchiness vanishes. Russia's shoulders relax and he sighs with relief.
Russia squirms a little when America prods under his arms with the cold gel. America laughs at the reaction, and Russia playfully scowls. America sticks his tongue out. America tugs the fabric of the shirt back over Russia, and Russia relaxes easily.
Russia sits up a little when America begins shaking a little. He looks up to see America staring into the distance, wringing and scratching his hands.
"Meri?" Russia asks.
"I need to go wash my hands, okay?" America blurts out.
Russia pulls away, and America rushes off.
'Huh.'
Russia waits, almost falling over. His eyes close, and he feels the warmth of sleep fill his limbs. Then, two calloused hands guild his head down. He lays back and smells the air. It smells like America, so he doesn't bother opening his eyes.
He turns over and curls around America as much as the back cushions would allow, and he smiles when he hears America laugh. The vibrations of it feel nice on his face.
"You really are a cat," America teases.
Russia begins purring to prove the point and America coos. The purring only speeds along his drifting off.
'It's soothing. I might start doing it more often.'
He drifts in and out of sleep as motion fills the home. He catches snippets of conversations. Eventually, it gets loud enough for him to wake up. He sits up a little and looks around. America is sleeping under him, and Russia smiles.
Russia gets up and stretches a little, trying not to hurt his chest. He yawns. Then, Ohio walks up to him. Russia watches curiously.
"Hey Russ," Ohio says, looking at the ground and rubbing his arm.
"Hello. Is something wrong?"
"Oh, no. I -uh. I wanted to apologize."
"For what?"
Ohio looks up, startled.
"For making you feel bad over something you couldn't control, what else?" Ohio snarks back.
Then Ohio sighs.
"Anyway, sorry for making you feel bad about the hearing thing," Ohio finished, staring at the floor and his face growing pink.
"Apology accepted," Russia asserts with a smile.
Ohio smiles gratefully before walking off. Russia watches him go with a small smile. Then the clock on the wall catches his attention.
'It's almost time to go,' Russia realizes.
He stares at America for a moment.
'Aww, but he's so cute when he's sleeping. I don't want to wake him up.'
'But I have to,' he knew.
Russia shakes America's shoulder, and America shoots up. Russia falls back to avoid being headbutted. Russia and America make eye contact and Russia begins laughing to himself. America begins laughing too, and Russia leans against America.
"Hey! Get off," America declares playfully, shoving at Russia.
"Oh, but I don't want to," Russia teases.
"Then why did you wake me up?" America whines, laying down under Russia.
Russia looks up with a laugh at the now upsidedown room. Then he sees a pair of feet walk in front of him. Russia looks up to see Georgia looking down at them with a smile briefly hidden by a scolding look.
"Well, y'all need to get ready to go," Georgia reprimes, trying to hide the amusement in her voice.
Russia rolls to the ground with a laugh, ignoring the sting in his chest, and America shouts. Russia stands up and helps America to his feet.
Russia drags America upstairs, and America laughs behind him.
"Hey! This is supposed to be my job!" America exclaims.
Russia smirks.
They burst into the bedroom, and Russia jumps onto the bed, pulling America behind him. America tumbles over onto Russia's back, snorting. Russia turns over and grabs America and begins tickling his ribs. America shrieks and squirms, cackling and wheezing. Russia scoffs mockingly as America starts swatting at him.
"Sto-o-opp!"
Russia laughs and pulls back. America curls up giggling. Russia leans in to hear it with a huge grin at scratches at his cheek scar. America swats Russia's face. Russia laughs loudly and leans back onto his hands. America scowls pleasantly.
"Come on, we have to get packed," America scolds, waving his finger.
Russia grumbles, but he can't manage to completely erase the smile adorning his face.
They pack quickly, and they go downstairs. Russia grabs some snacks and starts munching on them, waiting for Kansas and Alberta to finish packing. Ohio stands nearby, teasing South Dakota. South Dakota just rolls her eyes. North Dakota stands just behind South Dakota, looking around cautiously. The twins look almost identical, both with pear-shaped frames.
Florida bounces around, flapping his hands and squealing excitedly. And Russia knows that though the teen looks thin, he's still able to wrestle alligators.
Finland walks out with a large gun in hand and a bag on her back. Russia laughs.
"You're bringing that?" Russia mocks.
"Of course!" Finland chirps, "I've got extra clips too."
Russia laughs.
Soon, they load into the car, and Russia tries his best to ignore his nerves. America sits in Russia's lap, and Ohio whines about sharing a seat with Kansas, though Kansas himself doesn't appear too bothered. Delaware drives them out and drops them off at the edge of the town at 11:56 AM.
"Good luck. I'll leave a phone here in case you need us," Delaware says, hoping out briefly to tuck a disposable phone in a plastic bag underneath some tree roots.
Russia watches the location as Delaware covers it with leaves and other debris. By the time Delaware gets back into his car, the hiding spot is invisible. Kansas climbs out with a multitool in hand. Russia watches him pull out the knife and carve a small 'X' on the tree.
Russia hugs America and then lets him out. They shuffle out of the cars and Russia gathers his backpack from the trunk. The rest do the same, and Ohio slams it shut. Delaware starts driving away as soon as the trunk closes.
'Good. I don't want him getting caught here.'
Russia watches the trees, static filling the air. He spots sets of yellow-orange eyes watching them. Russia looks away and slowly skulks forward. America's head perks up and he points forward, whispering something.
Russia watches confused. America catches his eye and just shakes his head and waves them forward, a finger to his lips. Russia walks behind him, scanning the trees and glaring at any creatures he sees. The eyes slink away further into the tree cover.
Russia looks up just in time to stumble into America, who seems to shush him. Russia crouches and waves the states behind him. He watches two agents unloading large tubes from the back of a truck, each hosting a blinking red light.  The agents wore matching black slicks and bright red dress shirts.
The uniformed workers open the tubes, and Russia can almost see the grey magic rushing out. It makes the air heavier and more saturated with electrical static The red lights flicker off, and the tubes are put back into the truck.
'Those look like batteries.'
Finland points to the corner of the truck that the workers had started stacking them.
"We should destroy some of this shit while we're here," one of the workers jokes.
Finland waves everyone down, and only she remains able to watch. Her head just above the foliage.
"It is kinda weird how there aren't any people here anymore," the other comments.
"Who cares? We can spray paint some of the buildings, and now there are just less people to get us in trouble."
The second worker laughs.
"We need to finish emptying this shit first."
"That's true."
The workers finish emptying the tubs and replace them in the truck. They count them and close the back of the truck, leaving it unlocked. When Russia pokes his head into the bushes, he notes the door holds the same symbol as the knife and cameras had.
'The Revolution.'
America steps forward once the workers walk off with shaking paint cans. Finland hops over the underbrush and pulls at the back of the truck. She holds it halfway up and waves them forward.
Russia tries his best to keep quiet, even without the scale of his own hearing. He helps North Dakota and South Dakota up, and America keeps Florida from touching anything. Kansas and Ohio hop on and Finland shuffled them forward.
Alberta shifts some of the tubs in the back right corner to give them a space to sit during the ride. Finland slowly closes the door and shuffles back. Russia sits with his back in the corner and America joins him, leaning against him.
Florida shakes his hands, sitting in the furthest hidden spot from the group, a large grin on his face.
'Well, at least one of us is excited.'
The truck's engine roars to life, and they jerk back as the vehicle lurches forward.
'We're in.'
'Now to infiltrate a probably military level base.'
Russia swallows nervously.
'Should be easy enough. Besides, I got this far, I can do this.'
South Dakota smacks Ohio for a remark he'd made, and Ohio laughs. America shushes them with a glare.
'We can do this. We have to. It's too late to turn back.'

05/29/2019 DAB Chronological Transcription
1st Kings 1 - 2, Psalm 37, Psalm 71, and Psalm 94
Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible Chronological, I'm China. Today is the 29th day of May, welcome. It is so great to be here with you guys today as we are already in the middle of our week. And uh, like I said, kind of just the three day weekends can, they kind of throw you for a loop a little bit? I've been thinking "what day is it? is it still this day"? And so we're already halfway through this week. But today we are going to be in a couple different books today. We're going to be in 1st Kings 1 - 2, Psalm 37, Psalm 71, and Psalm 94. And we continue with the New International Version for this week. Commentary
We have some very interesting things to kind of digest today. Really just seeing Adonijah's boldness and really in just how sure of himself he is and, and really just seeing, he's like, "Okay King David's gone out. All right, this is what I'm going to do". And then when David makes Solomon King and Adonijah realizes, "wait a second, I, uh, I don't really have all of my ducks in a row here". He makes us request, King Solomon's not about it. And um, and really in that Solomon's, he's establishing his throne, he's establishing his, his like dominance, but also like in the healthy way. He's establishing, "Hey, I'm the man, like I'm the one who has the authority here". And as I was reading it, I was reminded, I'm not a parent, but I, I babysit, I nanny and there's this little boy that I nanny and he can be very defiant. And so sometimes he'll tell me, "well my mom lets me do this and I'm allowed to do this". And I'm like, that's great buddy. But since mom's not here and I'm here and I'm in charge, we're not going to do that. And chances are his mom doesn't actually let him do that. But it's the mind of a four year old that is saying, "Hey, I'm going to test and see if you can, you know, go against my resilience if you're going to go up, is your authority more than my authority". And wow, I have no desire to throw him out of the kingdom or to put him in any danger or harm. Just still understanding that concept of "I have to discipline you then". So we have timeouts. I go in and I talked to him. "Do you know why you're in time out", and "do you know you need to apologize for this" and different things like that. But I know that's a different concept, but that's my brain was thinking of with Solomon and really just admiring, maybe he didn't do everything like an "A+", but in terms of he's now king, and with that you have to steward that well. If I were to be a nanny and didn't steward that well, his mom would come home and be like," so why is my kid jumping on all the furniture eating the food he's not supposed to eat"? You know, like there would be consequences there. I would not be stewarding that well. I would not be doing my job well. And so, then just reading in the Psalms about discipline. And I remember as a kid I did not like discipline to the like so much so that I was like, "I'll just be like a perfect kid then so I never have to get disciplined". So that I just never have to feel the repercussions of this. And I was not a perfect kid by any means, but I definitely avoided trouble so that I wouldn't have to get disciplined. And so whenever I do get disciplined, whether it, I mean like no one disciplines me in terms of like "go to your room", "you're grounded" or anythings of that cause I'm an adult and I'm married and that would be weird. But it terms of disciplining myself in certain things, whether that be okay, we need to be active, we need to be physically active. Okay, well you have to discipline yourself to reading and uploading and different things of that sort. And also being obedient and disciplined with the Lord. Understanding that like any good parent would, they would discipline their children out of love. And really just getting into that whole concept. But man, my heart is really just like good on you, King Solomon. Maybe you didn't do everything to the textbook standards of what everyone else would have done, but in terms of, "Hey, I'm king and this is what's going to happen. What I say goes", I'm like, "heck yeah, justice is served". Prayer
But Lord, I thank you that ultimately there's no power higher than you. There's no authority who is higher than you. There is no one who could be above you. And so Lord we thank you and we acknowledge that you are Lord. You are king of kings, that you are lord of Lords. There is no one above you. And God, I just thank you that that is who we serve. That's who you are. And Lord I thank you for that sweet truth and God, I thank you for your word that realigns our hearts. That reminds us of who you, are and who you say we are. And God, if nothing else, I thank you that it encourages our hearts, encourages our soul, whether it's in our jobs, in our marriages, in our parenting. Lord, I thank you that you're there, you're in it, you understand it, you get it and you're speaking to it. You're a part of that process. And Lord, that's such a sweet thing  to have, is to be known and, and know you. And so we thank you for that and it's in your son's holy name we pray, amen. Announcements

And I'll be waiting for you here, tomorrow. Community Prayer Requests
Hi DABC friends.  This is Angela from Tacoma, Washington. Calling in, I want to tell Jamie, Yay, I'm so happy for your tooth and I hope that your healing is going well. I've been praying for you. And Rumby, I've been praying for you and your situation as well. And I will continue. And I have 2 praise reports of my own. I just had my first season of divorce care for kids, which I've called about asked you guys to pray for. But that first season just ended, and I saw so much growth and so much healing in the kids and it was just an amazing thing. So thank you all for your prayers in that. And um, if you would please continue to pray that the right kids get aligned and connected to us for our fall season as that comes about. And then the other thing that's a praise report and prayer requests, I guess I should say is, and I previously called in and told you guys about the guy that I like Ben. He was one of my co leaders in that group and I told him on our final evening how I felt about him. I just flat out told him, I like you. And his response was, I know I like you too, but I'm not dating or looking for a serious relationship right now. And I knew that was a possibility, and I told him that. But he did tell me that he appreciated me saying something and that that was very brave. And let me tell you the bravery, was because God was with me. It was not easy. And, um, he did tell me that he would like to get to know me better, maybe over coffee or going on a hike, um, without kids around. And so I said yes, but I told him, the ball's in your court. I'm not going to pursue you. I've made you aware of how I feel. That was May 10th, this is May 26th. And I haven't heard from him. So, um, praises that, you know, I was able to be strong and have the courage in that God was there with me and helping me say something just so that I could get it off my chest. Um, but also I know that this is a phase in my life where God wants me to have patience, and pray that I will have that patience because it's not easy. But, um, I appreciate you guys and all your prayers. Hello, this is Jamie for Phoenix. I am calling for a quick update on me. Uh, I had my surgery on Wednesday of last week, um, for my tooth. Um, and been in pretty serious pain since then. They said it could take up to two weeks for the pain to go away. Uh, so please pray that that, uh, solve quickly because I'm trying to work with the pain. Um, but the main reason I am calling my sister, her name is Michelle, I call her Mickey. Um, she is in the hospital right now. She is a pastor's wife in Ohio. And um, she had gallbladder surgery last week. Um, there's been some complications with it and she has a lot of fluid on her stomach, and in her chest. Um, possible, um, bleed inside. Their having to remove fluid from her chest and from her stomach. So she has tubes, she's not doing well. Um, she needs a miracle. And, um, she is a really special lady, so please be in prayer for her and, um, I'll keep you posted. Thank you, and I'll talk to you later.

i went on netflix and got distracted from my original goal of “hm maybe look up yona of the dawn” and i started watching uh. sirius the jaeger? so here’s my liveblog of.......... 13 minutes of the first episode because i’m so fucking bored i can’t even finish this episode
i got momentarily angry about how the english subtitles don’t match the english dub. i prefer having both english audio and matching subtitles--which is part of why i don’t actually watch a lot of anime anymore bc dubs don’t usually have subtitles--but i’m begrudgingly listening to original japanese audio w english subtitles
there’s a party in a ballroom. there’s a guy with a mic talking abt how, when darwin described the survival of the fittest, he did not mean that the strongest survive but rather that those able to adapt survive. this is punctuated by a shot of a woman nuzzling her partner’s chest, which ... oof
all of these women are wearing the same style of dress--from what i saw of the collar, they look like qipao? long ones, with high slits up the side.
at the same time there’s a boy walking down the street holding an instrument case. a car stops in front of him when he reaches the end of the sidewalk. a man in a uniform looks at his pocketwatch. “it’s almost time. are you ready?” the driver leans her elbow out of the window and says, “let’s make it a loud song.” the boy shrugs one shoulder and says with a faint smile, “maybe a peaceful one would be better?”
i wanted to see if he would have a good voice in english so i switched to english and listened to this exchange and that was a mistake. that was a mistake. that was a mistake. the sound of this voice immediately reminded me of, like, a mix between ed and envy from fma.
(switches immediately back to japanese audio) yeah his voice in japanese is much better
back to the party at the ballroom--oh no the men are all vampires sinking their teeth into these beautiful women :/ yall have no respect
also it was like a chomp-and-immediately-they’re-dead deal. no one even struggled. that’s not realistic
there’s some kid playing violin next to a street now. his audience has people in both western dress and chinese dress. i have absolutely no idea where this is taking place
there’s a ruckus right next to where the kid is playing and a guy throws another guy out of a... tavern? bar? i was about to be like “hey dude don’t be rude, the kid’s busking,” but apparently they’re friends
back to the party. there are drips of blood to emphasize that they’re eating from people, but i’m like “whoever keeps letting blood dribble out of their mouth, learn some fucking manners, damn. you eat like that?”
jaegers are... vampire hunters?
the kid gdfdfklds “next time you get into a fight, invite me, too”
“we’ll begin the performance as planned” two of them actually have instrument cases... is this like... a code for something or are they actually going to play music. please.
yuliy--the first boy, the one with the bad english voice--his brow is furrowed as the team discusses the plan briefly outside. he murmurs something about smelling blood, and he launches himself at the lookout, sending them through the skylight into the ballroom, where the vampire men have lowered the women to the floor, because not only are they messy eaters, they want to drink lying down. who! the fuck!! raised these vampires!!!!
the vampires just shed their human guises and they look like weird, demonic humanoid-shaped monkeys with chitin
oh! yuliy’s instrument case does not actually contain an instrument. it’s one of those things that connect together to form a staff. except it connects into a scythe?
everyone else rappels down like normal people
yuliy is the one saving grace so far. every time i look at him i’m like “he’s cute” so i keep watching
the kid--i think he was called philip earlier?--got mad at yuliy for jumping in without them and being careless. “do you have a death wish?!” and no one else seemed as concerned as he is and the woman said lightly “maybe he doesn’t value his own life.”
they’re on a ship now. yuliy is at the side, hands on the rail, looking out into the ocean. guy with pocketwatch comes to stand beside him and says, “you made a mess, as usual.” yuliy says, “i apologize for acting selfishly.”
guy with pocketwatch: “yuliy. we cooperate as a ‘pack’. each of us compensates for what others may lack. and... we chase our prey endlessly, corner them against the wall, and kill them. that is our job.”
yuliy’s inner thoughts: i am a jaeger. and i...
???? WE GO NOW TO THE TITLE CARD? WHAT ARE HIS THOUGHTS? TELL ME
i’m literally only five minutes into this because i keep talking ugh i’m going to stop sharing everything that happens
police enter a crime scene to find mutilated bodies. looks like a japanese-style room with tatami mats and sliding doors.
yuliy’s japanese voice isn’t bad! he speaks mildly and quietly, which is a large part of what i enjoy in voices. the sound of it isn’t my favorite, but
OH SHIT NEW CHARACTER. THE SOUND OF HIS VOICE IS BETTER. he was called major iba? and he mentioned being in civilian clothing.
philip: HEY HEY HEY DON’T LEAVE ME BEHIND. [...] by the way, where’s yuliy?
this kid is the only one concerned about yuliy
they go to japan and immediately a girl falls in love with yuliy. immediately. at first sight. their eyes meet thru a window and she gets a blush and he just stares vacantly at her before sliding his gaze away. when she tries to introduce herself in the garden and tries to make conversation abt the flowers he’d been admiring, he looks at her blankly again and says, “you’ve been spoiling them. you’ve given them too much water and fertilizer. they’re rotting from their roots.”
yuliy .
i can barely pay attention to this
the team except for pocketwatch guy assembles in a room. philip and the other guy are sitting at this dainty little table eating cakes. the woman, dorothea, is gazing out the window. yuliy is sitting at the piano, facing away from it, and cleaning/polishing his staff/scythe thing
oh it’s not a piano never mind. it LOOKED LIKE ONE
yuliy interrupts their speculation in a quiet, soft voice and philip literally picks up his chair and moves it to in front of yuliy and sits down, arm against the back of his chair, legs crossed, and smirks at yuliy and says, “you know, it sounds convincing when you say it.”
yuliy just looks at him before setting his staff/scythe away and standing up
philip: “going out for a stroll again? just like a doggy.”
WHERE DID THAT COME FROM? YOU’RE THE ONLY ONE WHO’S BEEN CONCERNED ABOUT YULIY THIS ENTIRE TIME AND NOW YOU’RE INSULTING HIM? THIS IS SO DEFINITELY A TEENAGE CRUSH THAT HE HAS NO IDEA WHAT TO DO WITH
major iba again!!! he looks like ... the child of guren and shinya from owari no seraph.
i can’t do this i’m sorry major iba but you aren’t cute enough for me to continue this. i’m only halfway through the episode. i can’t. i’m bored
