hi guys !! i promise i’ll do a proper follow forever later in 2018 when we survive 2017 but today i want to give a shout out to some amazing people whom i’m very proud to call my friends and best friends. all of my mutuals are extremely special but these ones mean the whole world to me as we always talk and laugh together and i’m pretty sure i’d die for every single one of them. i hold each one of you very close to my heart :’) so here’s a list of people that make me smile every day and also make my world brighter and my dash a better place !! Jigsaw Pieces

Summary : You comfort Emily after she’s had a bad case.

Your eyes flicked open gently as you heard the front door open ever so quietly, and the faint rustling of a jacket being hung up.

God, what time is it?

You sat up, rubbing your eyes gently as you watched your girlfriend head straight for your bedroom, barely acknowledging you. You grabbed your phone, the time reading 2:14am. You sighed, and picked up the TV remote, closed down Netflix, and finally turned the TV off, giving Emily a minute before checking on her. You've come to learn that on days like this, it was usually a gruelling case, and best to give her some time alone before joining her. So you stood up, and grabbed your dinner plate and took it to the kitchen to wash. You then fluffed the couch pillows, re-folded your throw blanket, wiped the coffee table clean, and grabbed your phone before heading to your room.

Seeing Emily curled up in a ball, wearing your ratty old Dartmouth sweatshirt broke your heart. You gently closed the bedroom door behind you, and silently changed into a tank top and shorts. Upon a closer look, you could see a damp patch on the pillowcase where Emily was lying, her eyes glassy in the faint moonlight shining through the window. You pulled back the covers, sliding them out from underneath Emily's body and pulling them over you both. As soon as you were settled, you felt her nuzzle her head onto your chest, curling herself into your body. It was nights like this you felt so lucky to see this side of her - when around anyone else, she was strong, guarded and a little intimidating - but you were one of the few that had the honour of knowing the real Emily, who was a complete and utter softie, though she'd never admit it. You lay with one hand on her back, drawing small circles, the other stroking her hair gently.

She was trying to muffle her cries, so all you heard were faint sniffles, prompting you to hold her tighter. After a few minutes, she tilted her head up to meet your gaze. You wiped her eyes with your thumb, then stroking her back again.

"I couldnt save them..." She whimpered.

"Oh baby," You whispered in reply, "You did everything you could've done. You can't always save everyone..."

"But that's my job, I'm supposed to save them.." She cried.

"Look at me." You said, in a firm yet gentle tone. She looked up at you again. "You cannot blame yourself. You did everything in your power, and sometimes, that's still not enough... But all anybody asks is that you do everything you can. And that's what you and your team do on every single case. You each give everything you have in order to reunite families, and save lives. That's all you can do, is try your best." You told her. She looked away again, but you pulled her face back towards yours.

"I am so proud of you." You told her, her eyes welling up again.

"What did I do to deserve you..." She mumbled into your chest.

"Shhh... you need to rest, it's nearly 3am," You hummed, cradling her head.

"I love you." She said, your heart feeling like it could burst.

"I love you more... now get some rest babe." You replied as she snuggled into your side more, the two of you fitting together like jigsaw pieces. You played with her hair until you heard her gentle snores, a sign she was finally getting a good night's sleep - something she's not had in weeks. You smiled to yourself, before dozing off along with her.
